Nop, working now. But I know I'm not good/competitive enough to work in SG now. So must improve my own worth first.

May I know if you get charged by bank for transfering SG money back to Malaysia? How about taxation?

Thanks.

Usually ppl change money in singapore and go over to JB to bank in. Tax rate is at 18%.
*
Possible to do this online? I heard most who work in SG use POSB to transfer money back to Malaysia. How about if using Maybank SG to do the transfer?

For tax, you mean we will be taxed 18% by SG or MY? If we paid tax in SG, do we still need to pay when we transfer money back to MY?

Thanks.

shinichi,

if u wanna do bank transfer online, if not mistake the cheapest way is thru telegraphic transfer (TT). you will be charged a percentage for of the amount u transfer as levy with a minimum of SGD10 plus other charges. there is no tax for transfering money home via TT. as for me, i will normally change the money in cash and bring it back to malaysia everytime i go back hometown.

Hi smartalec,

Thanks for your reply. If I were to work in SG, guess I'll go with electronic money transfer rather than cash. Don't want to take risk of being robbed.

i've actually considered about that also. but after taking into account that i take a bus direct from sg to kl and not travel to jb to take a bus, i think the risk is minimal as the only place u stop is at the sg & msian customs as well as the r&r area along the highway. of course i make sure there is some one to fetch me from kl also lar, else will kena "lou lap" also hahaha...if some one were to take a bus from jb, then the risk is multiplied by N times hahaha...

also if u transfer via bank, u will definitely be on the losing end as the exchange rate given by the banks is definitely lower than wat u can get outside at selected money changers smile.gif

Ic. But if you take bus and they drop you off at Pudu, its quite risky too... Really need to plan beforehand what I should/should not do if I were to work in SG.

Btw, any Penang-nites here that work in SG? Please do share your opinions/experience.

Nope, because you will still not enjoy those Singaporean citizen benefit.

PS: you do not have to serve national services as well if you first generation of PR.

How to define first gen PR? Not really understand this.

For example, you applied for PR, and months later you are a PR recipient.
You are a first generation PR.
Your kids will be 2nd generation PR, and it goes on.

Thanks, got it now smile.gif

I think BT or whatever p2p download is illegal in SG and they can charge you for illegal download offense... That's what I heard from others.
