QUOTE(Amras of Nargothrond @ Oct 30 2006, 12:21 PM) I am not sure whether is only my place facing a streamyx network problem? My streamyx keep on disconnected for the entire last week! Is this anything to do with they try to throttling our P2P? Just like yesterday, almost the entire day I was unable to connect to internet, only able to connect for few minutes then disconnect for few hours, and came back few minutes and then disconnected again!!! I live in Cheras, and one of my friend staying same area as me also have this problem... They are cheatting our money!!! Anyone have the same experience or anyone know what is happening? tmnut traffic shaping hardware could be interfering with your connection. call tmnut CS and tell them to send a technician to your house to check the problem. there is a thread here that has many users with the same problem as you.

Yes, I also faced streamyx problems right before I was throttled! They have to mess with the system to install the traffic shaper hence the connection problems.

QUOTE(nwk @ Oct 17 2006, 05:52 PM) for those who of you who still think tmnut don't throttle our BT speeds, this will put an end to all your doubts. I just spoke to a guy from TMnut CEO's office and he confirmed they are throttling all P2P traffic 24 hours everyday. He admitted to me that they are doing this because they are running out of bandwidth and also because of Lim Keng Yaek ordering them to improve their service due to a lot of people complaining to him about slow browsing speeds. He said they are aware of the situation and our speeds should return once TMnut add in more bandwidth by the end of the year. He says we have to bear with the slow speeds until TMnut acquires more bandwidth. In response, I asked to pass some of my suggestions to their management. I suggested that TMnut don't throttle 24 hours a day because nobody is going to surf & chat 24 hours everyday and please have some consideration for P2P users like me who pay RM99 a month for the speed. I asked if TMnut can lift the throttle after midnight and give us our speed until 12 Noon. He said he understand because he also use P2P and it isn't fair to customers like me. Then I said why should I pay RM99 a month just to get slow dial-up speed? I might as well switch back to TMnet 1515 dial-up service if I wanted to surf & chat. I told him, if you want to be fair to all users then don't throttle 24 hours a day and lift the restrictions after midnight so guys like me can get what we are paying for. My last suggestion to him was to put up an official annoucement on TMnut's website so all of us can finally get the true story from TMnut and not waste our time speculating about throttling and waste our money calling their stupid CS all the time. At the end he agreed to pass on all my comments and suggestions to TMnut's management and CEO. You guys are probably wondering why this Tmnut guy suddenly admit to me about P2P throttling? That's because I complained to CFM not once but twice about my slow speeds and on the second time they finally admitted they are indeed throttling all P2P traffic 24 hours everyday. I suggest all of you complain to CFM if you are not satisfied with the standard answer given to you by TMnut's CS staff. very nice of you to do that....thanks

I found this in StarBiz, 6 March 2006.
Title: TM Net promoting broadband lifestyle By Yvonne Tan yvonne@thestar.com.my
INTERNET service provider TM Net Sdn Bhd wants to get this message across to Malaysians: broadband is not merely about surfing the internet and e-mailing; it can be, in fact, a lifestyle.
Chief Executive Officer Michael Lai said when it came to broadband usage, Malaysia was at the 'middle tier' compared with other countries in Asia.
"Countries such as Hong Kong and Singapore, with their many high-rise buildings, allow for the installation of a single pipe to service many broadband customers at a time, unlike Malaysia where many people live on landed property.
"For Malaysians to move to broadband, there has to be something very compelling about it. Therefore, improving on the communication area of the broadband experience is important," he told StarBiz in an interview.
"When I talk about communication, I am referring to things such as using a video call. Many people use some sort of broadband now, but how many are actually making use of something as simple as video calls?
"It is something close to being free of charge, but many people still do not know how to use it," he said.
One could got through messenger services such as those provided by MSN and Yahoo! to conduct a video call, Lai noted.
"I think a lot of people feel broadband is only for e-mailing, surfing and downloading stuff from the internet - they have yet to truly realise its full potential," he said.
Then the article continues on about video calls, webcams, internet penetration, IPTV and etc. I'm too tired to type more.
What I'm thinking is, TM Net is messing up my P2P lifestyle so I can have a video call lifestyle instead? I wonder, are your friends gonna be in front of a webcam when you make that video call? Nope. They'll be out somewhere relying on their handphone for communications while they eat, drink, shop, work and play.

I think broadband service is just a very fundamental or basic thing for a developed country. If TMnut failed to provide a good broadband service, TMnut is better to pass this "fundamental & basic" work to other pontential ISP.

the only problem about passing the job to another ISP is that the goverment supports tmnut by giving them the monopoly over the business. if goverment takes away the monopoly then other ISP even foreign ones can come in and make tmnut bankrupt.

Ahmadinejad is religious nutjob trying to keep Iran in the dark ages by halting the flow of globalisation any way he can. I don't care if you agree with his policies or not, if you're anti US or pro Israel, anybody trying to hold back the inevitable march of progress is an idiot in my eyes.
Why all the hate for Lim Keng Yaik though? He's trying at least?

aiyoh, world is nvr enough hmm? try to appreciate, and you'll be more relaxed.
ppl don't just realised, they overuse the opportunity(without knowing it). Plus, TMNet wrongly forecast the network expansion, and now, we are stranded with capacity issues...ermm, who to blame? of course the ISP, but please, those sarcastics comments..it will nvr help!
I'm a bt'ers myself, so i know how does it feel to be throttled.
yeahyeah, one 'defensive' word, and here i am called as a spy??? defender?? y dun we have open discussion?
@almaty, i'm not defending nijad here...but do u wanna see this thread going off track, being threaded by that sort of replies? ranting here n there.
