for those who of you who still think tmnut don't throttle our BT speeds, this will put an end to all your doubts. I just spoke to a guy from TMnut CEO's office and he confirmed they are throttling all P2P traffic 24 hours everyday. He admitted to me that they are doing this because they are running out of bandwidth and also because of Lim Keng Yaek ordering them to improve their service due to a lot of people complaining to him about slow browsing speeds. He said they are aware of the situation and our speeds should return once TMnut add in more bandwidth by the end of the year. He says we have to bear with the slow speeds until TMnut acquires more bandwidth.

In response, I asked to pass some of my suggestions to their management. I suggested that TMnut don't throttle 24 hours a day because nobody is going to surf & chat 24 hours everyday and please have some consideration for P2P users like me who pay RM99 a month for the speed. I asked if TMnut can lift the throttle after midnight and give us our speed until 12 Noon. He said he understand because he also use P2P and it isn't fair to customers like me. Then I said why should I pay RM99 a month just to get slow dial-up speed? I might as well switch back to TMnet 1515 dial-up service if I wanted to surf & chat. I told him, if you want to be fair to all users then don't throttle 24 hours a day and lift the restrictions after midnight so guys like me can get what we are paying for. My last suggestion to him was to put up an official annoucement on TMnut's website so all of us can finally get the true story from TMnut and not waste our time speculating about throttling and waste our money calling their stupid CS all the time.

At the end he agreed to pass on all my comments and suggestions to TMnut's management and CEO. You guys are probably wondering why this Tmnut guy suddenly admit to me about P2P throttling? That's because I complained to CFM not once but twice about my slow speeds and on the second time they finally admitted they are indeed throttling all P2P traffic 24 hours everyday. I suggest all of you complain to CFM if you are not satisfied with the standard answer given to you by TMnut's CS staff.

When's exactly is the "end of the year"?

That could be anytime between November and December 2006. But I am not going to hold my breath because TMnut doesn't have a good record of keeping it's promises.

If one of you guys want to start an online petition, I will be glad to sign up! As for complaining to CS about throttling, don't waste your time on them because all they will give you is a standard answer full of denials. Instead complain to CFM and get the truth out of them like me.

I hear some people in various areas have been unthrottled and I don't know if it's because of my suggestions or what, but I myself am still being throttled right now. I am only standing up for my rights as a consumer because I feel I have been cheated by all this throttling. I suggest all you guys who are still being throttled to do the same like me.

i just received a call from CFM asking me if TMnet had contacted me about my complaint. I said yes, and I explained to them what TMnet told me. I told them it isn't fair to me that I have to wait for TMnet to add in more bandwidth to get back my speed and the lady at CFM told me if I am still being throttled by the end of the week, I can lodge a new complaint against TMnet again. So guys, if you are still being throttled like me, don't waste your time calling TMnut. Call CFM instead to put pressure on TMnut until they give you what you have paid for.

you don't need to access CFM website if you want to complain. Just call 1-800-18-2222 at their hotline and fire away your complaints.

Honestly, all these problems are simply because of the fact that they are offering free unlimited access. As we have all learned the painful way right now, there is no such thing as unlimited access. Anyone who has learned Economics will understand the idea of scarcity of resources.

What they should be doing right now is offer two tiered packages, one where you pay a minimal amount for say 1 GB worth of downloads a month. The other would be where we pay a premium amount for unlimited downloads. Honestly, it's the only way to be able to offer broadband at the advertised bandwidth.

I disagree with all this crappy throttling because, by right, we all signed contracts that said we will be getting the advertised bandwidth on a best effort basis. Now we find out that we are being actively denied that bandwidth because they ran out of bandwidth. Not best effort, right? smile.gif

It's like I sell you two packets of wan tan mee. You pay me for two packets, but I give you one packet only. My excuse is that I ran out of wan tan mee to sell. Now does that sound right to anybody here?

Honestly, they should never have started selling that unlimited package thing in the first place. Now they can't keep up and they're blaming us instead. If TM Net truly want to redeem themselves, stop the unlimited package thing. Let all existing unlimited contracts run out and offer capped download packages after that. Then at least, when I pay RM 88 for 1Mbps, I know I'm getting 1Mbps. Not some bullshit rate.
*
I agree with you. TMnut is robbing us in broad daylight with this throttling bullshit after promising us unlimited access and downloads. That's why I am going to make another complaint to CFM tomorrow. This will be my third complaint to CFM against them. Hopefully this will apply more pressure on them to lift this ridiculous throttle and get us what we paid for.

My next complaint to CFM will be to demand for action not words from TMnut. I will tell CFM that I don't want to hear any excuses from them anymore. Either they give me some kind of rebate or lift this stupid throttle. I am not going to wait until the end of the year for TMnut to "add in more bandwidth" and keep on paying RM99 for dial-up speeds. Lets hope they will do just that. I also hope more people here will complain to CFM until TMnut gives us what we have paid for.

I just made my third complaint to CFM against TMnut. According to CFM, they have been receiving a lot of complaints about slow speeds everyday. Good job guys! Keep on putting the pressure on TMnut and stand up for your consumer rights!

soon...Malaysia will be like Iran??!!

only a leader with the IQ of a baboon will ban broadband. That will be a huge step backwards for any country in this IT age. Instead of going forward, they go backwards...right back into the STONE AGE!!!

if everyone thinks like you do, there would be no need to set up consumer associations like CFM because nobody bothers to complain and would rather have their hard earned money cheated from them. fortunately, not everyone thinks like you do.

To the thread starter,

Was it Mr.Azrul that you spoke to? A certain Mr.Azrul, who claims to be Mr.Lai's personal assitant, called me up after I caused hell at tmnet. biggrin.gif

I think his name is Azrul. I am not sure but I know he is a malay guy. Anyway, I was more interested in giving the guy a piece of my mind then bothering to remember his name when I spoke to him on my handphone tongue.gif . What kind of hell did you cause at TMnet?

I emailed this on a friday night, at about 7pm, and at 9pm got a reply, detailing my rebate! Haha, rm118, woot! I then wrote back, saying that this rebate alone is insufficient, and i DEMAND a reply from Mr.Lai himself.

The next morning i got a call from Mr.Azrul on my handphone, he asked for additional details, assured me Mr.Lai reads all emails, and action would be taken. He also asked me to call him directly incase I had issues later on in the future, which I did and he got them fixed in a day! biggrin.gif
*
woah!!! that was some hell you raised in michael lai's face. I wished you would also raised some hell about our slow BT speeds in his face too. I am sure he would have stop all the throttling if you did. Good job!

Ok, dudes...I stumbled upon this thread, and I have the utmost respect for u guys, the deeds you guys do are an example for all us lambs.. Anyway, on to my point:

I think I found a way to bypass the P2P block, might not be fool-proof, but it seems to work pretty fine on my side.

Ok, this works on multiple computers at once, in my case, my house has 4 computers sharing the same line....yeah. Now, I was downloading BT file A, which has miltiple files in it, my total speed was 30K, I was pissed off, then it hit me. I set each computer to download seperate files onto individual computers, and guess what...lol...all files were downloading at 30K on individual computers, get it??

So, my theory, if you have multiple computers at hand, hook em up and download seperate files, or better yet, seperate PACKETS of a BT file on different computers...hope this helps!
*
this won't be of much use to the majority of BT users here because most of us are connected to a stand alone PC. We mostly bypass the stupid shaping with other alternatives already discussed in another thread. But thanks anyway for the tip! smile.gif

LOL just shoot 1 full scape of compliant to CFM and they called me the next day...(monday)
asking me whats going on.. and i said my BT are damn slow! so spoke to the tm net people about it and they said uh we cant give more bandwidth cause the cyberjaya server down and crap like link to hk was cut off...so i said when will it be fix they answered tommorow...so i waited until the day before yesterday and it dint solve till 12 midnight and i Shoot again and gues wats their answer  this time...
Bt cannot access international link cause i am using a fire wall but then i am using a portforward off my fire wall and it still dint improve. yesterday called CFM and issue more complaints...
Streamyx man arrive check my speed and everything then he say no problem...before he went home i showed him the BT speed even he say " WTF" so damn slow..he call his office and ask the people there to increase my speed to 1.5mb ...result same as usual...
so he said he wil try his best to see why it happened "AT HIS OFFICE"....
called CFM again today.... Told them same story....
Streamyx man called me and in the end he admit most of the ip throttle to give more chance to ppl who uses STREAMYX to surf and chat...-.-

end of story

Another case that has confirmed the traffic shapping TMnut has been doing all along. They do it so well, that even their own technicians have no idea what is going on until they check with their HQ. Good work! Don't give up yet, call CFM again and tell them that you demand TMnut give you the speed you are paying for or give you a rebate. You should also say that you don't want to hear anymore of their lame excuses!

sabarlah , bro ... don't put too much hope toward TM.
maybe we should lower our expectation ... TM is providing its' best efford. Even though, TM's service is BAD. But, at least we still can access internet.

anyway I still look forward to see more attached reply from cfm. keep on complaints will be the only method to release customers' anger.
*
sabar??!! I have already run out of patience with this nincompoop, imcompetent, fradulent ISP!!!! I am still waiting for them to call me after sending my third complaint to CFM. If I don't hear from those monkeys after the Raya holidays, I am going to call CFM again and again and again until they know my name until I become famous over there. Or should I say infamous.....

Anyway, I am not going to let this moronic ISP rob me of my hard earned money without a fight!
