It's amazing. Here I am uploading to a guy in Brazil at FULL 256 kbps speed. Whereas we can't even download anything thru bittorrent at 256 kbps speed. Last I remember Brazil is a poor and developing country where football is the main way out of poverty while we are steaming forward to developed status by 2020. Looks like we are now heading in the wrong direction.

About the dslreport, the time is now 12:10pm and I'm still getting good speeds on my torrent 10-30kBps with 0 local peers. Most of the peers are uploading at less than 1kBps while a few are uploading up to 10kBps. I have pinged those high speed peers and they have very low latency while others (very slow) have high latency. The peers are located in Germany, USA and Netherlands. Meanwhile, I have noticed that my google problem have also disappeared. I think TM Net did something to my DSLAM.
So the report has some errors unless they really decided to remove the traffic shaping appliance because it is needed elsewhere with higher traffic or suffered some kind of malfunction from heat or humidity. This post has been edited by TC_Boy: Oct 30 2006, 12:37 PM |

QUOTE(nwk @ Oct 30 2006, 12:35 PM) tmnut traffic shaping hardware could be interfering with your connection. call tmnut CS and tell them to send a technician to your house to check the problem. there is a thread here that has many users with the same problem as you. Yes, I also faced streamyx problems right before I was throttled! They have to mess with the system to install the traffic shaper hence the connection problems. |

I found this in StarBiz, 6 March 2006.
Title: TM Net promoting broadband lifestyle By Yvonne Tan yvonne@thestar.com.my INTERNET service provider TM Net Sdn Bhd wants to get this message across to Malaysians: broadband is not merely about surfing the internet and e-mailing; it can be, in fact, a lifestyle. Chief Executive Officer Michael Lai said when it came to broadband usage, Malaysia was at the 'middle tier' compared with other countries in Asia. "Countries such as Hong Kong and Singapore, with their many high-rise buildings, allow for the installation of a single pipe to service many broadband customers at a time, unlike Malaysia where many people live on landed property. "For Malaysians to move to broadband, there has to be something very compelling about it. Therefore, improving on the communication area of the broadband experience is important," he told StarBiz in an interview. "When I talk about communication, I am referring to things such as using a video call. Many people use some sort of broadband now, but how many are actually making use of something as simple as video calls? "It is something close to being free of charge, but many people still do not know how to use it," he said. One could got through messenger services such as those provided by MSN and Yahoo! to conduct a video call, Lai noted. "I think a lot of people feel broadband is only for e-mailing, surfing and downloading stuff from the internet - they have yet to truly realise its full potential," he said. Then the article continues on about video calls, webcams, internet penetration, IPTV and etc. I'm too tired to type more. What I'm thinking is, TM Net is messing up my P2P lifestyle so I can have a video call lifestyle instead? I wonder, are your friends gonna be in front of a webcam when you make that video call? Nope. They'll be out somewhere relying on their handphone for communications while they eat, drink, shop, work and play. This post has been edited by TC_Boy: Oct 31 2006, 08:55 AM |

QUOTE(nwk @ Nov 2 2006, 11:29 AM) thank you for reporting. if they don't call you back you can also complain to cfm and tell cfm they ignore your complain so cfm can send a letter to their ceo to taruh them. Internet become Intranet just got an update from cfm. they say, tmnut does not gurantee any problems with the international link and p2p downloads. they say tmnut is only responsible for domestic traffic only. they also recommend us to email cfm if tmnut still does not give you the speed you pay for so they can show it to tmnut's ceo and their management just how bad their service is. they recommend email because they can't write down everything on the phone if you talk to them. i think it is an outrage that tmnet dare to say they only give internet service for domestic use only. it is totally ridiculous. those dimwits at tmnut don't even know the meaning of internet. QUOTE(DeaDLocK @ Nov 7 2006, 02:33 AM) And just to confirm something - I'm on Streamyx Enterprise (3MB downstream) and my BT speeds haven't been affected at all. If I run lots of concurrent downloads, I can get 100+k/sec easy. I wonder, does the Streamyx SOHO 1.0M Package have the same effect. I can't seem to find the Streamyx Enterprise 3M package listed at the website. Also, my general downloading speed doesn't change throughout the day. I can max out my connection at 320kb/sec at any time and on any day I want when I download from my Usenet service. So when TMNet say they are running out of bandwidth, what they are really saying is that they are running out of the bandwidth allocated for the users on the home packages. They do not reveal just how much spare capacity there is on the business lines. And based on my consistent performance, zero disconnections and totally reliable throughput, there is A LOT of excess capacity that they are choosing not to release to the home users. Wait a minute. There is a user here by the name of steven437 with bandwidth problems eventhough it is a Corporate package. How do you explain that? This post has been edited by TC_Boy: Nov 7 2006, 03:48 AM |

QUOTE We wish to also highlight to customers that TM Net provides each subscriber with In other words, a 512 kbps connection is shared among 10 users so when 9 of them are not using only then you'll get full 512 kbps speed. an allocated bandwidth to which other subscribers may use the allocation when not used by others. Unfortunately, the nature of p2p more often than not, takes more than the allocated bandwidth, thus causing undue setbacks for other users when they want to use the service. |

QUOTE(blaxez @ Nov 8 2006, 04:26 PM) Their international links seems to be always broken, lots of jaws in the underwater love biting tmnet's cable though. When the fix the broken one, another link will be damaged eventually, never ending story. It's the damned sea monsters I tell ya! I saw them in Surface and Pirates 2. |

QUOTE(tirumisu @ Nov 8 2006, 04:39 PM) I don't think it's a surprise thing that the international links were taken down.It can't be that coincident while they gave notices of upgrades before it happen.Either they messed the whole thing up or as I say one of their Tier-1 providers disconnected them. Couldn't pay cisco too? By the way my torrent suddenly shot up to 140-150kBps at the moment.Dunno what happened. |
