for those who of you who still think tmnut don't throttle our BT speeds, this will put an end to all your doubts. I just spoke to a guy from TMnut CEO's office and he confirmed they are throttling all P2P traffic 24 hours everyday. He admitted to me that they are doing this because they are running out of bandwidth and also because of Lim Keng Yaek ordering them to improve their service due to a lot of people complaining to him about slow browsing speeds. He said they are aware of the situation and our speeds should return once TMnut add in more bandwidth by the end of the year. He says we have to bear with the slow speeds until TMnut acquires more bandwidth.

In response, I asked to pass some of my suggestions to their management. I suggested that TMnut don't throttle 24 hours a day because nobody is going to surf & chat 24 hours everyday and please have some consideration for P2P users like me who pay RM99 a month for the speed. I asked if TMnut can lift the throttle after midnight and give us our speed until 12 Noon. He said he understand because he also use P2P and it isn't fair to customers like me. Then I said why should I pay RM99 a month just to get slow dial-up speed? I might as well switch back to TMnet 1515 dial-up service if I wanted to surf & chat. I told him, if you want to be fair to all users then don't throttle 24 hours a day and lift the restrictions after midnight so guys like me can get what we are paying for. My last suggestion to him was to put up an official annoucement on TMnut's website so all of us can finally get the true story from TMnut and not waste our time speculating about throttling and waste our money calling their stupid CS all the time.

At the end he agreed to pass on all my comments and suggestions to TMnut's management and CEO. You guys are probably wondering why this Tmnut guy suddenly admit to me about P2P throttling? That's because I complained to CFM not once but twice about my slow speeds and on the second time they finally admitted they are indeed throttling all P2P traffic 24 hours everyday. I suggest all of you complain to CFM if you are not satisfied with the standard answer given to you by TMnut's CS staff.

Bloody TMnut tongue.gif why not we sign an online petition and send it across to them? all low yat members could make like a online complaint or somethig? I also dont believe i will pay rm88 for speeds like this just to use for chat and surf, might as well use something cheaper vmad.gif

At the moment , my BT download speed suddenly drop from 50k to <10k, I was sure that TM throttle BT.

If TM can lie to customer about this BT throttled issue, I am sure TM will lie again about "the promise --speeds should return once TMnut add in more bandwidth by the end of the year".

I mean, TM might throttle BT FOREVER with the excuse "running out of bandwidth ... because of Lim Keng Yaek ordering them to improve their service" This will be a "nightmare" for all BT users.

We must get an official promise from TM regarding BT throttled issue.

That could be anytime between November and December 2006. But I am not going to hold my breath because TMnut doesn't have a good record of keeping it's promises.

I do believe the suggestion is valid. Not only should we sign an online petition but we should sign a petition in person and submit it to whoever or watever organization that is supposed to be handling this. Furthermore, we should also bring this to the media and highlight that we as consumers are being cheated from what we are supposed to be getting.

Getting sick and tired of TMNet's responses. End of year so what .. what if in another few years this happens again. They should have the ability to forecast a hike in demand and bandwidth usage before signing up more subscribers. Right now, I guess they are just signing up as many as they can just to earn more and that's totally disadvantageous to us as subscribers.

There's no point in paying for such service when we are not getting what we paid for.

Hope they consider to lift it from midnight till noon. noob can surf/chat after that. Well, better for noob to cancel streamyx and use dial up for that. At least, mummy can save a bit.

Edit: LOL

Let me ask you guys something. You think TMnut will UNTHROTTLE P2P once they 'acquire' more bandwidth? I don't think so. They just spent RM70,000+ (that's just an estimation, could be more) to BUY the throttling device. Are they going to use it for 2-3 months then switch it off after they have bought more bandwidth? Hmm.. I don't think so. Throttling of P2P could be permanent.

That's the reality folks..

Are you saying because they earn BILLIONS that RM70,000 is nothing to them? So they can use for 2-3 months then the thing collect dust? I don't think so. If they have BILLIONS then why they didn't just BUY more bandwidth immediately?

I'm just saying this just to remind you all not to keep your hopes up on getting P2P unthrottled by end of the year. I seriously doubt they going to do it.

I'm a heavy BT users and I am pissed that TMnut did this to us. So I'm going to have to look for alternative (which I don't see one) or spend a little bit more money to circumvent the throttling.

But I would be happy to be proven wrong at the end of the year if they decide to junk the throttle device and give us full bandwidth again. rclxm9.gif

You'll never know how things may turn out here in Malaysia. By logic, i do agree with you.

But i rather go by without any logic at all.

If too many users complaint they will sure have to switch it off. Maybe they will still use the device but not 24/7. Anyway RM70,000+++ is nothing to these big guys!!!Its not even 1% of their total net profit.

70k? even tho i'm not TMNet, but that is too cheap! for any cisco with optical capabilities, which can do deep packet filtering, and with manageable policies...ermmmm...and they are not using only one! the amount = at least not less than 5.

if the thread starter happened to call the CEO's staff again, ask him...how much does TMNet earn from Streamyx vs the operating cost? My bet, streamyx maybe big in revenue, but not really making TMNet significantly richer!

Yeah, TELEKOM's revenue is big, but bear in mind, they are the parent company, which have lot more costs to cover! TMNet is just one of it's subsidary.

If anyone here think it's cheap to have international links, i would share some info, an ISP internet g/way (Core Router/Switch) would cost you coupleofmillions per site. That is only on the box, excluding the rent from cable providers + other expenditures.

The point is, it's easier to tell n say, rather than to do and 'buy' . some may disagree with me..but WTH, i hates to see a thread easily drifted far from reality ...
