My friends and i decide to hunt for sushi buffet, so far we only know there is an outlet which located at 1U, shogun. each pax, RM 50. The price is quite OK for us, but i heard some complaints about the food is not fresh and not even delicious... So is this a true? Or guys, got other suggestion for me?

Erm.. for buffet style.. I do recommend Kampachi @ Equotorial Hotel Kuala Lumpur .. although quite ex a bit at RM70 - RM 90 plus plus.. or my fav spot is Zipangu @ Shangrila Hotel @ RM88 plus plus.. tongue.gif.

Its the best as they air flown their supply direct from japan 2 - 3 times a week. Enjoy

speaking for myself, i find the jap restaurant in Legend hotel to be pretty good. Price is about 70++ and it's only available on weekends. Please call ahead and book as they are usually packed.

Hmm, momo restaurant is only having buffet on weekend. Price around 45 each Nett, no ++ tongue.gif

What can i say: very nice, it is not sushi buffet but japanese food buffet. so you can try quite numbers of food here. According to my friends sasake has more variety but i havent been sasake so no comment. But Momo is thumbup.gif

its called Saisake...and I have been there. Their range is a lot better than Momo I think. They do have sushi...and shark's fin soup too laugh.gif

Shogun in 1U is under Saisake company. But Shogun only opened somewhere earlier this year while Saisake has been in KL for quite some time. The food in Saisake are ok...I couldn't tell whether they were fresh or not tongue.gif

They have Ala cart style buffet where you can order as many dishes as you like but the dishes takes a long time to be served and the waitress is rude

i went there last month after they removated that palce, all that i can say. Its value for money and have all the food that u ppl said in here.

BUT I will never go there again! Food quality is not there, not fresh, and the ambience is not nice.

I'd recommend the Jap/French rautaurant in Sunway Resort or Zen @ Sunway Pyramid. they are not as cheap as Saisaki but definately serving much much better food .

wow rm499 PER YEAR? wow. that's a good deal if you're a often buffet goer. I guess i should ask my dad to consider that. BTW, this priveldge card not just for kampachi right? other restaurants in shangrila oso valid right?
*
Yeah.. Except for the lobby lounge and u only get 20% off for 2 in Lafite . Man I love that place but always cost me a bomb. Haha.. tongue.gif.. Recommend to try Lemon Garden Cafe also.. Damn Value for money in Shangrila.. Equtorial.. Didnt know much even my office is behind it.. Haha.. Prefer Shangrila than Equtorial anytime.

A little off topic a bit, but if you happen to be in Bangkok (be it business or travel), you can try out the Oishi Japanese Buffet. It's superb, seafood is fresh and the price is reasonable (around THB590 = RM60). The choices they offer are more than those in KL.

Wisma Antarabangsa at Jalan Bukit Bintang..
-the best thing bout Shin-Ichi is unlimited supply for oyster (Saisaki give 1 per head, Ichiban need to snatch with other)..
-not much people aware of that place, so take ur time choosing ur food without pushing n hushing XD
-got herbal soup like 'mini buddha jump over the wall', 'ginseng' etc
-the cake there are nice biggrin.gif
-the only let down for me is the konyaku jeli hard to take.. always break coz no proper plate to support XD
-the variety is not much if compared with saisaki but almost all that u expect in Japanese buffet is available such as tempura prawn (aLOT!!), teppenyaki, sushi, unagi, n alot more.. got chinese food corner as well..
-price is is +- RM48 per person.. Saisaki +-RM55 per person
*please note that my price is rough nett price, not those ++ thingy XD

Depends on which area you are staying. I'm living around Sathorn area, so the JC Kelvin branch is the nearest to my place. Haven't really tried other branches yet.

http://www.oishigroup.com/buffet_branch_en.html

The other one you might consider trying is the Oishi Grand Restaurant, located at Siam Discovery Center

Ichiban - SUXX! I rather go Sushi King then

Jogoya - Nice environment, very expensive, lots of varieties, opened by Taiwan company I think (not sure), but the food so-so only

Shogun - dunno. How much per person?

Seisaki - heard before but tak tahu mana

Oishi - last time ate before at Boulevard Mid Valley, but it's not there already izzit

Genji - always very full..dunno why. But the food quality not bad, it's almost all Jap food unlike Jogoya apa pun ada

Kampachi - always so packed..dunno why again. Food so-so only, sometimes saw some food never see before..dunno what

Keyaki - I like this place, quiet and can eat in peace dun need to rebut with other people. But it's best to make reservations first. They have the best fresh oysters there, can it's mostly all pure Jap food, and cheaper than Jogoya

Seki-Tei - Not bad, ate there few times, mostly all Jap food as well. But the environment dunno why..I don't really like it, maybe it's too dark

Saisaki sux. food sucks, sushi not fresh, place very noisy ( like pasar malam like that )

Shogun... i've heard a lot of bad reviews on it and i'm just gonna skip it.

i use to love to go to Munakata ( opposite wisma genting ) too bad they shifted over to a banglo at jln yap kwan seng, and decided to remove the buffet thingy. but their ala carte is still very good ( imagine u got sushi bar like those u see in japanese drama type. but the price for Sake Sushi is RM 10 per 2 piece. ) ( unless you're loaded, avoid it. but if u wanna impress someone and money is not a problem, highly recommended. )

Matsuba in Sri Hartamas is pretty good. ( ard RM 43 ) ( sushi freshly made by chef ) ( run by jap owner from what i heard )

Momo in Centerpoint, bandar utama was recommended by some of my frens ( who will only take good jap food ) ( below RM50 )

there's a few place more which i couldn't recall now.. maybe i'll try the one in wisma antarabangsa ( but the carpark rates in wisma genting is CRAZY ! )

there's one rule of thumb my frens told me tho.. if that place is filled with japanese, it's gotta be good.

momo is near the McD near KDU there.
( i havent been to momo too )

matsuba, if you're coming from the maybank in sri hartamas, you'll pass the fire station on your left, go further down till the end of the road ( to a T junction ) matsuba is just on your left hand side, 2nd floor ( yellow signboard with Green wordings )

Know any place with "Doria" on the menu? Common fusion dish in JP family restaurants like Royal Host. Miss it more than usual sushi, tempura stuff....

Also, friend asked to meet at Yoshinoya....errrmmm..... not great even in JP but here, tasted completely different. Hope if Matsuya opens here, will get more authentic choice.

can u guys recommend which japanese buffet around bukit bintang or any place near one utama?

i would like a place with nice ambience, good food and reasonable price...as i'm planning to bring my gf there for a little celebration...

and plz do give directions...as i'm not very familiar with those areas myself...

The KL one is Saisaki. It's in the UOA building, behind Wisma Cosway. Near the Istana Hotel.

The 1-U is Shogun. It's on the new wing. It's on the 2nd floor Oval area. It's near the escalators, S&J outlet and Esquire Kitchen.

I recommend the 1-U place, coz can jalan jalan after makan very full, LOL!

IIRC It's about 50++. Mostly Japanese food. Some is fusion but still Japanese inspire to suit local taste.

Don't expect to see Nasi Lemak, or Roti Canai ok, LOL!

Make a reservation if you want to go to avoid lining up, just in case. Don't want to be embarrassed on a date right?

Because I'm feeling nice I'll PM you the phone number.

I used to like Keyaki (Pan Pacific) and Kampachi (Equatorial) but I'm starting to go more and more to Midori (Marriot) and like it very much there.

I really have to try Shangri La if it really is that good. I miss the variety and freshness of the fish you can get in places like Tokyo or New York. O-toro anyone? biggrin.gif

Time limit?
If i am not wrong, you go for lunch then u can eat till the "lunch" session ends.

About food choice, dinner should be the session with most choice

I've been to alot of place to enjoy good food and esp I love japanese food and gtg say

for sunday. Rakuzen Jalan Raja Chulan is the best deal at RM55++ per person

Normal days is Shinichi for RM39++ for lunch or RM43++ for dinner and guess what use HLBB card u get 10% discount or opt for their member card. (I just went there again today after visiting Jagoya yesterday and seriously speaking, I prefer Shinichi anytime)

Jagoya... if you go for lotsa variety

and Zipangu if you had the cash. I love their special set menu which have cod fish which is not always available

And best without budget constraint for Jap buffet is Iketeru Jampagne Buffet. Serve unlimited amount of Champagne u can drink throughout the 2 hours. lol

Yay~ I found out where Hideki is.. rclxm9.gif
Anyway, for those who are still looking for it.. here's er.. details I can give, map googled and "copy+edited" from http://www.malaxi.com/map_bangsar.html smile.gif
*The RED BOX should be where BANGSAR ONE is.. tongue.gif sorry I cannot remember if it is before or after the junction to Jalan Bukit Pantai from the map..*

I bet you all definately know the link out from Mid Valley South court *Dome* that leads to Bangsar Jalan Maarof..
Yes, take that route, all the way *until you reach Bangsar* and you'll see Petronas on your right.
After Petronas there will be a traffic light, turn left at that junction after the traffic light *Jalan Ara*(now, the mosque will be at your right).
Go all the way and you'll see TMC on your left, and Bangsar Village on your right..
Keep going on *after traffic light* and you'll see BANGSAR ONE on your RIGHT~ Ta da~ You'll see along with Hideki, a few other restaurants~

Sorry if this directions sounded a little childish, but I hope everyone here that loves jap food will be able to try it out~ I'm waiting to try them out too~~ laugh.gif

ps: oh yeah~ anyone, if I'm wrong, please feel free to CORRECT me smile.gif

worth going, although there was no buffet on weekdays.

I like the prawn tempura the most, fresh prawn and not oily thumbup.gif

Ordered 5 dishes - baby octopus, tofu salad, chicken tepanyaki, some chicken soup(serve with a rice) and prawn tempura.

Damage +-Rm130 biggrin.gif

Just came back from JOGOYA tongue.gif

Anyway, the food quality is good, and there are plenty of food to choose as well smile.gif You could find quite a lot of Japanese dishes, and plenty of western/chinese/indian dishes to choose smile.gif

akachester: The price just stated by ronaldjoe above; and for the dinner session, the price will be RM100 after included the service charge and tax. smile.gif

Well, it depends what you like to eat. If you're not a picky person, I'm sure you will enjoy the foods there smile.gif You could take a look at some shots of Jogoya that I took last week through my blog smile.gif

I went there last Saturday for the dinner session, and it gets full very fast.. sweat.gif So, I think its better to book a table smile.gif

Which one compare to sushi king? IMO, sushi king food freshness is the worst among all the Japanese buffets that I had tried so far.

tried shin-nichi today. the food is quite ok but it went cold very fast because of the cold aircon there. don't quite like the cold soba(maybe i do not know how to enjoy tht food -.-" ) and the desserts are not so good. but the jap food is good lor. the price is rm49.80 per pax for dinner excluding service charge and gov tax.

Heard that Hideki is currently under renovation.
So, when will it be reopen again? Since trying to call them this few days but it seem no one is answering the phone......

Btw, went to sin nichi past few weeks ago but never manage to get on their food. Since i left even before i sit down. Terrible ambient. The place is huge but it seem old and uncomfortable. + only 2 patron is there when we went in. (it is almost 8pm at that time. wonder why???). Should really improve on the ambient. (No comment on the food though.)

So, we went to Zipungu as many had recommend in this forum. The ambient is superb. Rack of wine bottle displayed on the way in to the restaurant. But wait... Where is all the buffet that people are talking about.... It weekday and no buffet. Damn..!!! shocking.gif
For those who want the be there for buffet, please bare in mind it is only for Sunday Lunch. (please correct me if i'm wrong).

I called PJ Hilton on the Buy 1 Free 1 promotion and they said it is only for Diamond Club member (or something like that). As for casual patron, it is still RM79++ per pax for Saturday Dinner Buffet and RM69++ for Sunday Lunch Buffet.
I thought it is for everyone. What a dissapointment.... cry.gif

Btw, anyone of this Diamond club member? Probably can have some outing together for this.. Hehe.... thumbup.gif

I know this topic is about sushi buffet places in KL but then today, I went to Rakuzen at Subang, for the first time and I must say, it's amazing!

There is a vast variety of choices but they are missing out on my ever favorite garlic fried rice, yes I'm a fried rice kind of person.

We had:
Tempura - Sashimi set
Chicken Teriyaki set with sushi
Sashimi for 5 people
Grilled (those satay like sticks) - 7 different types
rice with tea soup
Dragon roll
Spider roll
Blue fin tuna
Beef udon
some other sushi

The price ~RM435 and its due to my dad's birthday, it made him very happy...

Thanks for the nice recommendation people!

I think the next place I would want to try as far as Japanese buffet goes would be Zipangu. I've had their excellent normal menu and it was an experience not to be forgotten. The sunday brunch sounds enticing, slightly cheaper than jogoya too.

JB Shogun nearby Pelangi Leisure Mall a.k.a Giant ?

If so, they have no relation with KL Shogun.

I asked the staff there, they say they are different company. And it is not very nice la... RM50 per pax.. Hardly worth it for me. Sashimi restock slow and little.

For Saisaki.. I find it to be so-so only. The food are not very impressive TBH.

i went to Jogoya last month, the selection nowadays are quite limited, although the ingredients are fresh but i still think the price they charge at 100++ is hardly justify. Not sure when they introduce this, but you can get cocktail and house wine for free too.

I would normally go for buffet in SHOGUN, either One Utama or Sunway Pyramid. Cheap & good. Plenty of selection of sashimi and cooked dishes. Good environment but can be cramped on weekends. 50++ per person.

We should all ban Jogoya, the quality descended faster than gravity. Shangrila is excellent but pricey.

Another alternative - Zen in Sunway (beside Zanmai) serves Japanese buffet every Sunway from 11am - 3pm I think. They charge RM55 per head.

I had try Sazaki and Sakae, both are quite nice. Actually GENKI SHUSHI will be the 1st choice, but it close in Malaysia, replace by Sakae Sushi. Sakae price is normal. Sazaki is buffet sushi, if not mistake i still remember is RM50 per person. I like shushi is because im addicted by WASABI

Rakuzen fan here... smile.gif
though their buffet are only for Sunday lunch from 12pm to 3pm...
as a matter of fact, im going this Sunday... XD

choices are limited compared to other japanese buffet... but the food are top notched... for me, i would rather have quality than quantity... cool2.gif

they don't have open tray serving style, but rather waiters coming to get orders from u (50 pieces of tempura prawn at 1st order for 2 person... even the waiters went notworthy.gif )

price is rm55++ for adult, dun remember for kids... tongue.gif
after including tax and service charge, it's around rm60...

yes i suggest Rakuzen too, with given choices of the 'famous' few amongst saisaki, shogun, jogoya.

jogoya has only certain food thats worth it..but if u can get afew more extra VIP coupons..ull get more of the so called exclusive dishes there which cost more than other restaurant normally.

shogun and saisaki being under the same company, i find that their food has too much artificial flavouring that they made me slave for water after dining there.

shinichi has closed down unfortunately..they had some good dishes but their poor location has taken them out of the carpet.

so...Rakuzen cheaper than the aboves. generally better food..fresher interior..good for a relaxing buffet =] and my choice.

Value vs quality i'd say Saisaki biggrin.gif i wont recommend Ichiban. ate once..service very cacat sad.gif Sagano is a tad too expensive and not too much variety

For japanese food buffet, go to Rakuzen @ Chulan Square / Kampachi @ Equatorial Hotel.
For ala carte, go to Umai ya/ Ninja Jones/ Ozeki(cheaper)
While for sushis, I recommend you better to jusco buy their sushis, lol nice + cheaper + more convenient =)

Hmm....How I want to answer ah? Although I'm Muslim, I think I cannot answer. But i will try. Sushi are pork free but its no stated Halal. Pork Free means no pork while Halal status must have all Islam methods from food preparation, material used and so on. Sushi sometimes contains alcohol/sake. So , no halal status would be rewarded. Hope its can clear your doubt. Some people do not intend to try restaurant which clearly no halal sign. Bear in mind, pork free are not always halal smile.gif

It depends on the person thought. For me, I will visit Sushi restaurant at least once a month to cater my hungry tongue.gif I've been a lot of Sushi Restaurant. The best and value for money is still Kampachi at Equatorial.

Didn't like Shogun when i went there.

seating lousy. food not so great.

sorry to shatter your fantasy, Jogoya is bad. Totally not worth the price to eat there.

For the price you're paying, i'd rather go kampachi, or the jap restaurant in PJ Hilton. Hell, even shogun's (pyramid) food is better than jogoya.

Jogoya might've started off good, but they've slided off and it's totally overrated.

By same owner open. Even during the beginning they have Etoile in Pavalion but seems now closed and replace by coffee bean in concourse.

My experience is Pavalion Kampachi sucks the food as I try before when they open that time the sashimi have ice in it and prefer the one in Equtorial more. ^^

Fav Jap restaurant for me now is KAMIMURA in the weld. Cheap and nice food. But notice its non halal. lol

And for ramen nothing beats Munakata Ramen shop which also sell non halal food. ^^ but only for ramen.

Tenji NOT that nice, really.
even though they say they're fully booked, actually if you turn up at the door,
they wont turn you away. only the seating area inside, with aircond is allowed to be booked.

you can still sit outside, but choose a cloudy/cooler day. smile.gif

other than the gigantic oysters, some sashimi (only swordfish, salmon, TILAPIA!, and scallop, the day I went)
and Haagen Dazs ice cream worthy. cooked food, sushi, desserts = all horrible.

Most horrible place (Tenji) ever. Went there today and they said that they're fully booked until the 15th for lunch session. Ask them why their phone cannot be reached and they say their "system is down" without even an apology. So don't bother calling cause they're not even bothered to fix their stupid phone. I tried for 3 days in a row including night time.
If you haven't made a reservation you can forget about the promo. How to even make a reservation when you can't even contact them?? And they should just take down the promo banner cause its not "valid" anyway. At least they can let people know that they're fully book until the 15th cause I saw alot of people being turned away due to this ignorance. Lousy service. Jogoya is waaaaaaaay better.

here's if anyone wanna have a rough idea on what to expect.

go for one hour or two binge - eat sashimi (IF they give anything more than TILAPIA, swordfish and salmon only), and haagen dazs only.

hmm.gif which number did u call? i tried the number on their website, couldnt get through the whole night. but i realised they have a different number printed on their card.

my experience with their front counter is the exact opposite as yours. i reached before 11.30, and walked in to make reservations for 12pm. they said they have to give me an outdoor table coz indoor tables that big are already booked. however, when my family arrived they said that they have an indoor table if we prefer that. smile.gif the guys at the front counter were very nice, kept smiling and were very polite throughout the time.

1700801818 for tel and 0362036396 for fax. I call both for 3 days trying from morning 10a.m until 3a.m (It rang like normal at 3a.m but obviously no one picked up.) on one particular day just to test whether is the phone line real or not. Dunno, I reached around 11:15 and they open about 11:35. And they didn't let anyone enter until around 11:50 even for those who made reservations. A lot of the people came and complain about their phone not working and not one word of "sorry" even came from them. They look like they didn't care at all. And they don't even bother to tell every detail. I had to keep asking, probing them with questions before they say that they are fully booked all the way to 15th Jan. Its pretty sucky service for a so call high class restaurant. They could at least put a notice in their website or some where stating that they are fully booked until the 15th so people won't have to go there like fools. Or at least pick up their phone ( I suspect their phone is not down like they claim. Probably they just don't wanna handle any calls.) and let us know that they are full until the 15th. Its common courtesy. Right now the only way we can get info from them is going there and not everyone lives so near Mont Kiara. Which day did you went? There have been reviews on their service and certain food declining in quality since they day they opened. Started great and now ending horribly.

Started great and now ending horribly.

i went last week. they were very nice throughout the conversation. but i din ask them bout not picking up la. biggrin.gif i did take a risk by going without reservations though. lucky they had tables. the place got kinda empty after 1pm, so you might wana try that. smile.gif

last week there were quite many people, but i guess not as many as it is now. before 11.30 got some people hanging around, but no long queues or whatever. the only queue was around 10ppl long, which was caused by someone in front who came in a very big family.

Today the queue was quite bad. And those who didn't make reservations are not allowed in. My friend gave his number to them and ask them to call us when they have a table. No call also. And I have friends who went there said that around after 1-2p.m like that they stop replenishing some food like the coconuts. That's why we went around 11 thinking better to be early. I met 2 of my friends there with their respective groups both of them also got turned down. Maybe you're just lucky la or maybe you look like some rich important person. Hahaha... Won't be going back. My makan gang is pretty pissed off at the place.

haha. its possible that last week not that many people were interested/know about the place, or they're rushing now for the promo.

laugh.gif nah, looks has nothing to do with it. went in jeans and tshirt only. at 1-2 they were still replenishing the coconuts, but i realised the grilled food section was closing down though smile.gif

thats the problem.. if they advertise 11:30-3pm... why are they closing down way before the end of the session? on the day i went.. not only the coconut stop replenishing at 1pm++, the grille section were closing down around 1:30pm, choc fountain was not working since 12pm, cooked food was always empty most of the time after 12:30pm.. and by 1pm++ u will be lucky u still can get some of those popular cooked food... i never had a single tempura prawn fritter that day... and i went in at 11:50am..

they should make sure every food is still available even at 2.59pm...

Hmm... I just dine there last night but didn't encounter any problems. Not sure about the promo lunch, but for dinner, the food were quite satisfying and the service is (i know some people may shoot me for this) better than Jogoya. Think the food have less MSG than Jogoya's and thumbs up for the lobster salad! Just my 2 cents!

Of course with the price of RM88++++ they had better give good service and better food. If they still give crap service and food for the price of RM88++++ then something is seriously wrong with them. Try paying RM29.90++ or RM39.90++ and obviously they couldn't be bothered. If they can't handle things professionally I think they shouldn't even have a promo at all. Sure some people are happy about the promo but so far currently now I hear more bad reviews about it more than good because they can't cope with the crowd properly = lousy service + bad or missing food + pretending that their phone doesn't work.

I may sound a bit boring coz I think it's written here somewhere.

Is the buffet is Kampachi@Equaltorial worth a try? I am bringing my wife there on Sat 17/1. I do prefer quality to quantity tongue.gif

Any place else to recommend?

yeah, the promo is currently 49.90 plus 10% tax. so it comes out to 55.

pretty similar to the old promo, only that now its fixed time, you dont get to eat for only an hour or two. smile.gif

maybe like you all said the promotion and the RM88 may have difference in food or services. Since there's still promotion for the lunch, maybe it's time for 2nd trip to review it! nod.gif

BTW, take the bigger plates near dimsum counter! Can take more.... whistling.gif

SO far been to 2 sushi buffet before.

@Shogun
It was the first experience I ever been to a sushi buffet. If you are really into sushi shogun might be the place. They provide a lot more variety of sushi for you to eat. Overall the food is ok for the price I had paid. The server is kind of good thou. Just that the salmon, tuna, oyster aren't fresh enough for me.
I went for the lunch and it only cost Rm33 each, as my friends and I all together have 7 ppl resulting in Rm100++ discount. Is weekends anyway.

@Jogoya
Not planning to go there actually but received coupons from housemate- buy 1 free 1. It only cost me Rm57 for the dinner from 5pm to 9.30pm.
The salmon tuna oyster are quite fresh considered it is Malaysia. If you are sushi freak type maybe Jogoya is not for you. Jogoya only has a few types of sushi which i didn't even try as it is too common for me. Overall it has deep fried, bbq, cooked, terpanyaki, drinks, and deserts sections. The food are quite ok, especially the fresh coconut. Lol i like coconut. It has liquor as well which are red wine and cocktails, a cocktail called wonderful is my fav ^^. Paid Rm57 for all these food is quite worth, also the service is good. There are a lot of food you hav to order and they will take to ur table , that's the best part haha. Also forgot to mention is has abalone.

So anymore sushi buffef which has good food and affordable price would like to recommend??

So glad to hear about this smile.gif

I have dinner in Rakuzen before, the food is really not bad...and this Sun Im going for the buffet lunch...their buffet lunch is a bit different from others, where you order and they deliver to your table, eat all you can...

I have checked 3 Rakuzen, only Chulan Square offer buffet lunch on sunday...Hartamas and Desa Park City also don't have buffet.

Hi,
I heard there is one Renaissance Hotel, my friend told me so. She likes to go there for Sushi buffet. She says it is really good. But the price is really expensive. Have to make booking first before going.

This seems very interesting.. only RM34++ for dinner buffet, it's almost the price of an ala carte order in normal Jap restaurants already..

I went to Tenji this afternoon with colleagues for lunch. The food was good, some really good.

BUT... (there's always a but)... I felt like I didn't get my money's worth. That's because they were so damn slow at replenishing the food.

I didn't manage to score a piece of sake sashimi or any oysters. The dim sum came out when I just entered the restaurant, but everytime I roamed, they didn't replenished it. The tempura section had about 6 plates for the dishes, but only 2 were always filled... with yam. I don't even know if they have tempura prawns, fish, salmon or pumpkin because I never saw it at all!

The tepanyaki stuff took a gazillion years to serve, I placed my table numbers into the bowl that says fish, prawn and mussels. Guess what? They served ONE miserable piece of fish, two prawns and two mussels.

The little coconuts, similar to the ones in Jogoya... but that's where the similarities end. Instead of displaying it nicely on a bed of ice like they do in Jogoya, they had one guy at the bar, knocking a hole through the coconut and then inserting a straw into it. I'm sure its more cost effective that way, but considering its Friday lunch, and most likely you know that its fully booked, shouldn't you get it all done beforehand?

I did not have any bad experience with the hostess. But I have a big problem with the waiters/waitresses. I took quite a while roaming for food (Coz there were none) and also had to queue for certain stuff. It took me about 8-10 minutes I think. But guess what? My previous plate wasn't cleared!... And there was one time when I was walking, I stopped because I missed my table... But this waitress, she bumped into me shoulder to shoulder, but never said a single word of sorry. WTF man. Bloody rude.

Verdict: Taste good... But never again.

Paid a visit to Jogoya over the weekend. My 1st visit to Jogoya and what can i say .. very very disappointed... Paid RM78 for a very disappointing meal:-

1) Too short hours.... 2 hrs not enough to have a relaxing time eating
2) 3 clips per table is such a cheap gimmick to stop customer from placing order. Every order need to wait ~10-15mins.
3) Food served are already partially cold. Should due to overwhelming response and insufficient man power to cope.

Don't understand why still so many ppl loves Jogoya so much

Even Shogun ~ RM 50 is way way better than this pirate's den

I was there on Sunday. I saw one room full of smokes..food was ok only, u can order some BBQ stuffs from menu. Have oysters, salmon also. I dont like how charge, mine was RM135, then tax on 10% and 5% from RM135, only minus off 50% (RM65) from there. So u actually paying Rm10 more on tax.sigh

I just went to Jogoya at Starhill with my friends. With VIP card u can get 50% discount. And I was paying at just RM55++ including tax. Quite worth it.

yay, just came back from Tenji! it is a special day because our dinner time fall during the earth hour!
the restaurant had an announcement saying that they will shut down (certain) dining lights for 10 minutes.
meanwhile, each table will have a mini candle - so romantic biggrin.gif

oh ya, not sure this has been posted b4 or not, but anyway, is a good info to share:-

if you are bringing a child (below 90cm), the child can go in foc.
if you are bringing a child (above 90cm, below 110cm), half price.
if you are bringing a maid together with you, let the receptionist know, they will charge RM20++ only (for the maid)!

i'd like to share some photos:-

i had 3 or 4 oysters la. burp!
food quality is okay.
environment oso okay.
service is not bad. they cleaned away your dirty plates very quickly.

somehow i find that jogoya is bigger than tenji - in terms of spaciousness and food variety.
well, overall i'll give tenji 7/10. worth to try out, atleast once la biggrin.gif

I went to Xenri few weeks ago without booking, but they said it is fulled! This is because they are having 50% discount for lunch also... But I think the environment is quite nice ^^.
Anyway, will go to Yaki2 dinner end of April. Hope can have nice experience there~

I honestly don't understand why people are so enthralled with huge oysters here.

Only one word comes to my mind when eating an oversized oyster: NASTY. Especially the palm-sized monstrosities that Jogoya has.

ok guys. i went to Tenji again and i would probably be my last visit.

food was nice (love the soft-shell crab and pomfret) but ah, you know la the dishes are pretty much the same. you'll get bored!

and i would like to confirm that the oysters are not as gigantic as before. heck looks normal sized. in short, the oyster i saw today has the flesh mass that's 1/3 of the one in my photo. tongue.gif haha, so panasonic88 was right.

i confirmed it today.

hmm.gif i remember reading in the sun last week or so, a review on Tenji. They mentioned that the huge oysters were out of season or something, so the oysters they serve are smaller.

truth or just an excuse? whistling.gif

Just wondering, is Hideki totally vanish from this world liao? I know it closed down 2 years ago, or did it make a comeback?

Still the best to me, good service, place and price eventhough not much selections.
