Only one word comes to my mind when eating an oversized oyster: NASTY. Especially the palm-sized monstrosities that Jogoya has.

I finally got round to trying Tenji and omg the food is almost as suck as Jogoya. for supper promo price $40 is ok but dinner $88 is too expensive for mediocre food.

Well ... even the drop-clip dishes I had were only so-so. Worst of all is that quite a number of them were pre-cooked, came immediately - and came COLD. So potong stim, drop a clip at the teppanyaki counter, go explore a bit, reach back table got a plate of cold lamb shoulder sitting there.

Which makes me still continue to wonder why Jogoya and Tenji are still so hot and so full. Price expensive, food is crappy, why lah??

what kind of rubbish reply is this? since you're suggesting/recommending, why don't you also post the name of the restaurant (or more details)??!? now if any ppl are interested, they have to ask "oh, what restaurant is that?" and then wait for you to come back and then post the restaurant name?

I went to Tenji beginning of this year and only found the food "average." No idea how it was before, when it just opened. Blogpost here if you're interested.

haven't tried, but for 38.80++ how bad can it be? I go tomorrow and then report back to you guys.

OK I is has been guinea pig and now reporting back.

The Maiu place, the food is "average" for Japanese restaurant standards. Nothing particularly special. Most important however is that the sushi and sashimi actually quite fresh. And 38.80 + 10% service charge is less than half the price of Jogoya/Tenji. So I recommend it as a 'value for money' Jap buffet rather than a 'nice food' buffet. Menu pictures below, and if u wanna read then I blogged about it here. Also there is only japanese food and no fusion chinese food like Jogoya/Tenji.

and i don't think it has anything to do with brainwash. it's more simple supply and demand economics. why should jogoya/tenji reduce their rm80-rm100 buffet prices when clearly there's sufficient demand at that price point to full house their restaurants?

Nelson Tan cafe is a sushi/jap buffet? way to choose a poor name, lol.

two branches. the sri petaling one weekdays quite empty but weekends is full so need reservation (cos ppl go there and sit for 2+ hours to eat)

sashimi was fresh. i went once during lunchtime and it was empty so i was worried about freshness - but i went again during weekend night and it was full house, so that helps with the food turnover.

more likely to trust bloggers who give bad/poor reviews. it's the ones that the restaurant go and sponsor them and then they blog "omg the food super nice" ... this one dunno whether biased due to the free meal.

i went to the sri petaling branch. i won't say the food's very good, but it's worth it to go and whack salmon and tuna sashimi.

please go through a few pages of the thread. Jogoya is crap buffet and not worth either the money or the space the food takes up in your stomach.

TS asking about buffet leh, not normal ala-carte order.

Actually I think most buffets won't serve unagi cos of the price? Nowadays seems like very expensive liao.

As far as I know, Maiu got no unagi one.
