Example 2: The workshop adjust alignment with only driver seat occupied. Your car will go straight with only u onboard, if got passenger in left side, your car once again will sway abit to left. And this depends on the weight of your passenger also. Same thing apply whether rear passenger is sit in left or right side. If Najib drive ur Saga with Rosmah on left passenger seat, the car will sway to left undoubted.

I'm no alignment expert, I just have a general mistrust of shops that do it. Anyway I'm suspect about the caster on that sheet, I believe the outside wheel due to the general camber of the road should have a touch more caster than the inside wheel, that would be the LH wheel in countries that drive on the LHS of the road. This (I believe since I'm not an expert) counters the road camber effect leaving us with a lovely straight driving car. Most shops here, and I'd have to believe anywhere only bother with toe settings these days and I suspect fancy printouts must only be used to ease money from customer's pockets. I'd reckon without touching anything they could drive the car in again and get a whole new set of numbers.

We used to have a very Chinese looking guy squat under the tree reading newspaper in the morning before 8am. Regardless of the queue, he will only start work after 8. He doesn't have much machine, did alignment with ropes & mirror ONLY. Guess what, 90% of his customers are cab drivers! He do not do alignment for "damaged" vehicle. I had once after waited long hours for my turn, he put the mirrors up, did a rough measurement with his ropes, then with his frown face I ady guess that something is not right. He squat & have a rough estimation, passenger lower arm front bush/sway bar bush on the passenger side/driver side tie rod end need to be changed before he can do my alingment, saying do not want me drive the car out after alignment & come back complaint the car aint driving straight. FOC for diagnose! Normal alignment is RM8. No camber adjustment allowed, but will attempt to use hydraulic jack to repair any bent suspension parts to straighten the car. Only onwheel balancing available @ RM3/piece.

Sadly, this kinda magician can no longer be found.

People like him are gold. Chances are just replacing the bush should correct any problem.
The way it would work here is align the car, take the money and advise a bush is worn and should be replaced, then book in the replacement job and charge for another alignment to set the car back to where it was.

Unless u need to put a great effort to hold ur steering during straight line, else no need to readjust the alignment so often.

i generally agree for the most part however there are some people with specific needs so this may not apply to everyone laugh.gif

In Malaysia here the way to do alignment is hook up the machine and tell u 'ur camber run away, need to add camber nut'.... yawn.gif
