Abosufuckinglutely normal. Reason for that is to protect your hardware

It made me smile when I eventually discovered the rev limiting, it made me wonder if there was an issue that hadn't triggered a code but Daisy sure revved nice and high when I gave her a bootfull on the highway to test it. It seems unlike non-Proton owners in Australia I can't really find problems with them, except the lousy tiny fuel tank.
BTW my 1.6 l seems limited to 2.5k.

The 40litre fuel tank if being used effectively, that 35litres of fuel can made up to 600km. The VIN coded as PL1BT series are all made for fuel economy model. PL1(Proton)BT3(BaseTrimModel3)SNR(Sedan) - Plotong GaGa/S16 series
PL1(Proton)BT2(BaseTrimModel2)LNR(Hatchback) - Plotong Shawie/ShawieStyle in UK-OZ
Help yourself here nod.gif http://vindecoder.eu/proton

The rev limiter is set around that region. I wouldn't be sure what's the exact figure, our old BLM doesn't have that function. As far as I know, most newer automatic transmission vehicle already have the rev limiting function for transmission protection. The 1st time I notice it was a 2003 Hongda Aggord, already got such function when everybody was scratching our head laugh.gif

Daisy has BT6ST for her trim marker. Thanks for the decoder URL, information is always welcomed.

The "BT" I actually do not know what it stands for, neither the local workshop fellas know what the heck it represents, we're just guessing. However, we think it's more likely to be in Malay language BuaTan the meaning of MAKE, similar to MK in other country's VIN. So, if BT2 for Savvy is 2nd model, which makes your is 6th model nod.gif As for the ST... that part is the trim/model. I don't know what it stands for either, take a wild guess - SUPER TURBO ? laugh.gif
*
SUPER TURBO, smile, I wish but no. BT6 would just indicate a fairly high trim standard I'd say, leather, power windows, that sort of thing, even some sort of traction control which much to my surprise can be very useful. I found out when I pulled up in a boggy patch a few weeks ago. I immediately tried to reverse out and when the wheels began to spin (despite much care) I could hear a clicking noise that could only be the traction control doing a bit of exercise, result was painlessly being able to find a drier parking spot, I was half expecting to get muddy feet from pushing. Another Proton thing to impress me.

Driving in the 95% of Australia that is outside the capital cities is somewhat like driving on the moon compared to SE Asia, filling stations can be quite some distance apart, and when towns are a long way apart filling stations in between realise the sky can be the limit for prices, that makes fuel tank size a factor.

Hi all! May i know how to set the clock for my saga flx? smile.gif
*
From memory, start with the odometer reading total distance, not trip distance. Hold the trip reset knob down for a a short time and the time will flash. short jab the knob until the hour/minute (I forget which comes first) is correct, then wait for a little bit and the other thing (minute or hour) will flash, then short jab the knob until it's right and just wait afterwards.
I'm just feeling too lazy to check my manual so forgive me if I'm wrong.

If the chip in the key has moved at all the engine won't crank, it has to be very close to the bottom of the plastic section.

I think ur key chip dah kaput...happened to my friends car before...no crank at all...change the car battery oso same... call proton hotline, & they told my friend to use spare key...and its working fine..
*
Very unlikely, they're pretty rugged.
I had this problem in my first week after I'd opened mine to check what chip type it had, the key is very fussy about the position of the chip.

I've used a bit of double sided tape to hold mine in place as it can slip a bit upstream in the holder, which despite the small movement causes the angst described.

S16 (saga) much cheaper, massively cheaper, money talks when you're spending your own.
Also the Proton looks like it was built for a mere mortal to easily do their own servicing, as well as the dealership put no pressure at all on me to pour money into meaningless add-ons.
The downside though is being told online all Proton's handle terribly, which is quite the opposite of how I feel about their handling, and how bad their build quality is, despite me being unable to find a fault with it.
Bear in mind Hyundai and Kia were also bagged here for ages after their product was pretty damned good, sort of until the baggers realised the peers who they blindly mirror stopped bagging them. I feel Proton are in the same boat, the product is now pretty good but old feelings die hard.

Your side should be 3 or 4 in the morning, do you wake up this early? Or still haven't sleep yet blink.gif

02:51 it says. We're fortunate to not suffer that idiotic "daylight saving time"
I'm glad you noticed, I'm getting old and my sleep cycle is a real bugger of late. I get up for a pee, spend some time online when it's quiet and my downloads don't count against our punitive limits, go back to bed when I'm tired again. I don't stay in bed if I'm not sleepy tired, if a bit of Sudoku play doesn't droop the eyelids I often get up again.
Poor health has me on the pension so it doesn't matter when I'm awake or asleep.

A sad day for Daisy yesterday, she had a breakage of her dash vent.

I wouldn't worry too much if the factory OEM are endorsed.
I wouldn't worry in the slightest, China can make any quality from the top shelf to junk, depending on how much the trader wants to pay.
China has a space program that actively sends humans into the void too, not many countries do that.

hi there, back here with BLM and FLX

FLX SV missing those car passenger in rear grab, wtf

the FLX feel different than BLM
brake seem not responsive, not sure, may be driving habit

FLX pick up faster though, i still scare drive during heavy traffic, minor jam due to the brake

The gear switching is so tight
*
If you're never in the rear then why care?
I changed my brake pads to very cheap ones after a month, brakes are much better since.

I saw new addition of bling bling at the vents brows.gif Will it glow in the dark? wub.gif

I named her Daisy so a bit of yellow to go with her pale white body seemed right. It doesn't glow in the dark, but as nice as it sounds it isn't really something you want.
I like pretty things, as I age I like pretty things more and more, I think I may be becoming homosexual in the same way as actor James Franco, up to the point of sexuality, then I'm straight!

It's complex to use a wideband sensor, requires electronics and tweaking.
A small amount of tweaking can be done to a narrow band one, and it's much easier to trick it into being rich than lean, but tricking it into richness will very likely throw an error code from the downstream sensor, then that will have to be tweaked.

Yes narrow band are really obsolescent technology now, at least the sensors can be had very cheaply.

We've had quite a dry wet season so I just park Daisy outside when it looks like it going to rain. My lazy way of chasing the dust away.

I have care factor zero about country of origin, I would have bought a Chery when I bought Daisy but Proton was cheaper. The pleasant surprise was later when pushed a bit I found myself really liking Daisy's roadholding. I wouldn't care if every part of Daisy was made in China.
