Was scrolling my fb and they kept shooting me ads for this Bcoz somehow the algorithm caught onto me shopping around for home fiber renewal and saw this 1 agent saying Maxis now can do renewal and they giving a good deal?

100 mbps
2 years @ 89 /m@ 6 months free
3 years @ 89/m@ free 50' Samsung tv

Free replacement router 6, if ours is old 1...

And  they throw in some vouchers to buy electronics.. (later go enquire further)

Agent charging RM100 service fee for 100mbps B4 they start processing.. (will be refunded if maxis don't call) (300 and up they charge 150 rm)

Looks legit with office (and thousands of good review on fb) nearby my place so maybe later I go walk In see see..

Any1 done this B4?

Actually there is no Rm100 service fee. The agent maybe is trying to discourage people from cancelling halfway, hence he/she charge the service fee. Because before this, many from Unifi apply to switch to Maxis and then cancelled halfway after receiving good SWU offer from TM.
Also, the free TV actually you need to go to Maxis centre to check eligibility, just like zerolution. Some irresponsible agent just leave their customer hanging without the promised TV after their fibre is installed.
If possible, try to check from official Maxis store first.

Any Maxis user here using Controld DNS?
Are you able to be assigned to DNS hosted in Singapore?
How's the ping?
On Unifi I keeps getting routed to Japan, ping consistently 100ms+

I believe no one reply you with the ping time yet.
Both IPv4 and IPv6 via Equinix SG

Already explained earlier..
Rm 100 Service fee is for what they call a "renewal" for those with intention to stay with maxis.. And they will guide us on how to squeeze maxis . Lol. And they will initiate transfer like usual, bet on the fact maxis will call us to do retention and offer us 6 months free for recontract of 2 years... Or 50" TV for 3 years... They said if maxis don't give us these..... Then they will cancel it and reattempt with another "new order" so maxis will repeat the process and hopefully offer us the aforementioned. RM100 refundable if deal didn't go thru and we don't get what is expected

As for if we just change to unifi, no service fee and they will just process like normal (rely on ourselves to nego with maxis)...... If maxis offers what we want then best we save the RM100 service fee to agent.... If don't get good counter offer then proceed switch to unifi I guess? Not sure if can cancel halfway?

The TV is not confimed with maxis when they make counter offer?? Should be nego with maxis and confirm all only recontract ma? How to say recontract with them then only check eligibility? Lol.. Like that I rather don't want...

It's up to you if you trust the agent or not. But if somehow something happen along the way and the agent run off, then Maxis also will not help you for things that they do not promised.
6 months free sounds reasonable offer, but to expect the deal as good or even better than Unifi SWU plan is a far wish, since Maxis in most places need to tumpang TM and pay to use their infra.

Comparing evening speed of Maxis.
There's similar comparison in Unifi thread so I might as well try the same on Maxis as well.

Hi guys, want to ask the route from Maxis, KAON AR2140, how's the performance?
is good for 1Gbps pacakge?
Tested with LAN cable able to get 950Mbps+/-.
But been test with few devices with WiFi6, never hit 900Mbps confused.gif .
Do anyone can hit 950Mbps with WiFi6 with this AR2140 ? hmm.gif

I access to the route config page, cannot find "change channel" for 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz, is this route allow user manually choose the "channel"?

AR2140 is Gigabit port only

Gigabit port max speed is 940Mbps

And WiFi 6 is not really suited for 1Gbps anyways, usually peak at 900Mbps for most WiFi 6 devices

During my speedtest, change to different server will give different number, up and down. Is there any preference server that fit for Maxis during speedtest?

Thanks for the info about gigabit port.
Well, if I plan to buy my own router to enjoy higher speed (close to 1Gbps) with WiFi, is there any recommended router?
Due to the cost, I think TP-Link may more fit to my pocket sweat.gif

Technically Maxis own speedtest server will provide the fastest speed.

Archer BE400 from TP-Link if you're on a budget

Nevertheless, back to default Maxis router. Hopefully that isolates one lesser problem to troubleshoot.

I wanted to use Maxis router to isolate problem but I just noticed Maxis router only accepts SSID without "space" and my existing SSID on Asus router has spaces... So, it means I need to reconfigure for all my devices again if I were to change to Maxis router... Yesterday and today problem came back again while I'm now back in the house.

Ah yes. The infamous Maxis Router that doesn't allow space. Not sure if you could try this as space for your SSID.

Thanks for the tips let me try! So far it’s OK now, I feel like resetting my Asus router if it’s still happening. I noticed the Internet is OK once I’m on Maxis Huawei router.

Not every router can be reused as range extender

Not possible on AR2140
