Your vet doesn't do scaling? I'm surprised that wasn't the first thing they recommended. One of my cats had gingivitis grade 3 and within two weeks of adopting her, they took her in for cleaning/scaling. She ended up having 9 teeth extracted, but that's not something that is guaranteed to happen for your cat.
How old is you cat? If it's young, then yes, send your cat in for cleaning. Reason why age is important is because older cats cannot handle the general anaesthetic that they will have to go under.
I don’t know if they do scaling or not, going to go ask next week on Monday! I’m very surprised they didn’t recommend anything too. I had to do researches all by myself.How old is you cat? When I first brought her to a vet nearby it was because one of her ear is very dirty and I was scared to clean by myself (because it was near with her eardrum) and I also told the vet how she sometimes would scream in pain out of nowhere or would scream when we touch her neck and mouth area. He opened my cat’s mouth to check it and said “oh it’s nothing too serious, it’ll heal by itself. If her condition get worse come here again”. He just gave me some kind of ear cleaning product for cat and that’s all. I thought nothing was too serious with my mouth’s cat but then she continue to scream out of nowhere so we brought her to another vet for another opinion. That’s how I know that my cat has gingivitis. The other vet injected my cat and provided some meds for 1 week. After she’s off her med her pain comes back then we went to the same vet again for injection and meds for 20 days. This time the meds doesn’t seem to work on her anymore that we decided to go for the first vet we went to (but different doctor) he then injected my cat again and gave 2 antibiotics for 10days. On 7 days or something she seemed to be in a lot of pain that I decided to bring her to the same vet again, by that time her gums were really red and that’s why she didn’t eat much and always hiding somewhere around the house. He injected some steroid and told me to continue the antibiotics if I can. By that time I decided to do all the researches by myself then found out supplements might help so I asked the vet about it and he finally showed me a multivits + lysine supplement 😅
Sorry for the tldr; but I just wish some vets would do their job properly to prevent the conditions from getting worse =_= how come they never recommend me anything ;-;
My cat is 3 years+, I heard so too but I wonder if 3 years is still fine to go under GA? Tysm for letting me know about your experience and helping me out! I really appreciate it and sorry for the tldr reply 😅
