But Affin's long term FD also they will reduce the rate if OPR reduce.

Huh? Since when? Once you put for that specific term, the bank will honour the rate when you put regardless whether OPR goes up or down

Any promo for 12 mths?

AmBank seems to be trying to compete for <12 mths FD. They told me on 4 & 9 mths FD promo only. biggrin.gif

QUOTE(??!! @ Jun 4 2015, 12:09 AM)
Uplifted FD from BR last Fri. Despite whatever I read here, BR refused to issue BC and insisted the only cashless way I can get my money out was via Rentas. trans done at about 11.30 am. I split the amount to Alliance Band and CIMB. No show of funds at both banks until at about 11 pm  vmad.gif
Despite my frenly RM at both banks allowing me to pre sign forms for FD placement and waiting until 6 pm to effect the FD, it cannot be done until the foll Monday. Lost 3 days' interest there.

Wonder if I can lodge a complaint to BNM .. i thought the guideline says latest before 5 pm?

1 more cert maturing soon and will not step back into BR again.
*
The BC talk is for the branch that I was in. It is also when we complained in the high tea session in a hotel. Also my branch last time said no Rentas except for business acct. So, each branch of BR is operating differently ! doh.gif

After dropping more than half of my deposits there, I am just maintaining my acct since Feb. Just renewing matured ones. But I really like their monthly interest and no issue for me, unlike Ah Boom ! tongue.gif

Surprised with your Rentas, worst than my experience. I remember I asked about it and few forummers said it is IMMEDIATE. But learned yesterday that banks run Rentas in batches. biggrin.gif

Agreed as the FD cert just show 4.33% pa for 15 months only without any remarks which indicate interest rate is subject to change when there is changes in OPR

There is a cutoff time for Rentas at around 11 am. After that might as well perform IBG. Rentas is for normal business use only. tongue.gif
Usually it can be done individually or if they are lazy then in batches.

For my yesterday's case, the Rentas did do the work. Though it is after 11.30am, still received by 2.40pm. Enough time for me to place FD. If use IBG which saves RM2, likely to be after 8pm. tongue.gif

But you big boss, BR do not allow for me to do Rentas, have to pay for their IBG. You, big boss, FOC for Rentas ! rclxms.gif notworthy.gif

I believe the terms 'subject to OPR" is referring to the promotional rate. Since the promotion period is long (until 31 Dec 2015), there might be changes of OPR in between. Lets say the OPR reduced by 0.25% on July 2015, those who place the deposit after the changes will get the effective rate of 4.08%.

But those who place the deposit before the OPR reduction will still get 4.33%. Correct me if I am wrong. unsure.gif

When I opened FD acct and a SA with Affin last year August, no card was issued. For online banking they gave me a slip with some numbers for online acct opening. Unlike some banks that you need ATM/debit card for online acct opening. You have to pay the 1st year fee then cancel it after setting up online acct to avoid yearly fees. shakehead.gif So Affin wise, is good in that aspect ! rclxms.gif

Erm...roll over promotional technique is called "Term Deposit". For example, Public Bank TD-I reward is subject to OPR. You only lock the rate for the first 4 months. If OPR reduces afterwards, the 1st roll over & 2nd roll over also reduces.

However, Affin Bank promotion is called fixed deposit. So, by the terms, I think its rate will be fixed once you place your deposit until matured.
