AH How can I miss the third thread here !!!

*celebrating ~~~*

just curious, which type of sand paper u all use to polish the model surface? I use the most tiny one, but sometimes found it's very hard to do if the unsmooth part of the model is too deep.

The number on the sandpaper (400, 600, 800, 1000, 1200, 1500..) is actually indicates the sandpaper grit (i.e. how coarse is the sandpaper). The smaller the number, the more coarse it is and you will get less smooth surface...for higher grit number -> vice versa.

Usually you should start sanding using lower grit sandpaper and gradually increasing the sandpaper grit to get a smoother surface. (i.e. 400 --> 600 --> 1200). The 400 grit is to sand off remaining sprues/putty..and the higher gritt sandpaper to get a smooth finish. Try using wet sanding method (dip some water n sand) for the finishing to get a smoother surface.

Hopes this will help. smile.gif

sweet... but i still dont like B-craft's idea of making the backpack appear gigantic like the IJ. The transformation looks nice too, although it is not as complicated as the Zeta.

hope this time the head of saviour is not kiddie size like the IJ

Last time i also think like that. But at the end end up 1 or 2 same. When you started to buy its hard to stop buying when you cant get the one you want.

Now i smarter, buy full set cost around S$35 better than lucky picky.
If you lucky picky already cost as full set price and you dont get wat you want...

^ yeah it looks nice, but like the CR IJ, it looks nice on websites, but when you see the actual product in boxes, suddenly it doesn't seem that well made at all... there are areas where the paintjob is not as refined as it should be. Hope the CR Akatsuki doesn't have these problems.

Having said that... There's only one gold MS... The HYAKU SHIKI !! Akatsuki... meh... dry.gif tongue.gif nicely made though...
http://www.zlpla.co.kr/zeroboard/view.php?id=gallery&no=971

Meanwhile, we already have:
Head Cannon = ZZ
Mouth Cannon = Raider, Destroy, Psycho
Chest Cannon = Calamity, Abyss, Aegis
Tummy Cannon = Strike Freedom
Waist Cannon = Sazabi
...
...

and now,
Groin Cannon !!

the amount of paint spray by spray can is hard to control
so you've to practice more to control the spray
so that it won't spray too much on your model

Besides that, spray can will suffer the problem of air pressure dropping
when you've use it for a long time

unless there's one kit where I like all of the gashapons tongue.gif but so far none...

I just saw dalong.net's review on Crossbone Gundam. Nothing technical like Phase Shift Armor or Neuron Jammer Cancellor in Gundam Seed, but really nice design. I love the rifle that can split into two to become a big sword and a shotgun. And the daggers that come out of the feet...now that's original laugh.gif

I love the rifle that can split into two to become a big sword and a shotgun. And the daggers that come out of the feet...now that's original laugh.gif

maybe will ask u for crossbone from bulk 5(going to hv it?) brows.gif brows.gif

Friend, i'm working at Singapore. I rarely go back Malaysia leh. I can get S$26.90 consider cheaper in Singapore. Malaysia can get Rm50 because suppliers buy with big buck. Because malaysia more challenge in market that why they decreaseing the price if not no 1 would buy.

F91 is for collectors.
If you are not a 1/60 or F91 collector.
Better get something else.
If you wanna view the picture of it try googling it "1/60 gundam f91"
you will get some results.....

^ from dalong.net's pictures it seems that there are a lot of unpainted areas, and without panel lines it looks horribly plain. But who doesn't do panel lines? biggrin.gif 3500 yen for loads of gimmicks, not a bad deal, although personally I am not a fan of crossbone due to it's cartoonish weapons. I prefer military like accessories like bazookas biggrin.gif

I would choose F91 over Crossbone, if I were to buy either one of them. Or just wait for V2, which is probable, considering Bandai's venture into 15m mechas. Meh... just get both f91 and Crossbone instead laugh.gif

meanwhile... lineart of space helmet astray... and doughnut stargazer.

Yeah. You can use it to colour your gundam. But white marker is quite useless...at least for me. Cos the white can't cover very well. Other colours are fine.

it doesnt matter that u get your gunpla cheaper or higher...most important is u enjoy building it......like keroro, he very happy that he can built gunpla....

haha, dun know in future i'll hav keroro face or not...hahahahaha

zaku tristar is consider 1st gen MG....so we cant compare it with mg like acguy la......like the newly mg MK2 ver 2...the articulation/movement is much more better than PG mk2....buut some how PG advantage is that, it has a very "true form" of mechanism.....

the 1/60 f91.....i once read in mag, some consider that kit as the ancester for MG....this is the 1st gunpla that bandai tried for internal frame, it is also be given LED treatment as well.....during that time...it's is a very nicely produced kit...top of the class....

so u can really c how bandai improve.....

If you have around rm150 budget, go for an MG kit. For good articulation, get those which has inner frame. But basically depends on personal preferance. I started with 1/60 NG kits and now working on MGs and SDs. Personally recommend SDs for beginners. (I like my destiny SD so much) haha!!

1/60, 1/100, 1/144 are sizes of the model. Eg. 1/100 is 1/100 of the original gundam size. the bigger the number, the smaller the model is.

Hope the info helps. Maybe some sifu here can add on more. Im still a beginner tongue.gif

Height of RX-78-2 = 18m

1/144: 1800cm / 144 = 12.5cm
1/100: 1800cm / 100 = 18cm
1/60: 1800cm / 60 = 30cm
1/24: 1800cm / 24 = 75cm
1/12: 1800cm / 12 = 150cm (1.5m)

All the 1/xxx is call scaling

Hi z3r0,

Don't get the cheap RM30. I got one and regret for the rest of my gundam life. For a beginner, i think u can go for HG 1/144 to get a taste of what is gundam kits...these figures can pose and come with colours, but not that posable if compared with MG (the fingers movement for example).

If u have some cash, like what the other sifus said, around RM100-RM150, then go for the MG stuff. Nice inner frame and articulation, size is in 1/100 and posable. If u can't buy the PG, which cost >RM400, then go for the MG. U won't regret one. Now, i collect MG kits. HG kits is around RM50-RM75. These are the range. For 1/100 NG, i haven't try that out, but now waiting for the 1/100 Astray Gold Frame Amatsu to arrive....my 1st NG 1/100. I like it because of how the model looks like, but i bet MG is better...ko lian no MG for that.

Some kits u can consider for MG:

a) MG Aile Strike
b) MG MK2 Ver2 Titans
c) MG Zeta Ver2
d) MG Acguy
e) MG F91

Go and buy a gundam marker to add panel lines to ur gundam. It's nice u know. Once u start, u'l not stop. That's me. Now i burn $ on gundam kits coz i can't control myself. tongue.gif

Welcome... another fella who will be stuck knee deep in the quicksands of mecha modelling tongue.gif As Savor Savvy said, once you start, you can't stop... If not for my sky high uni fees I'd have bought all the MGs released recently... tongue.gif

Anyway... PG>MG>HG is the rule... with the exception of Gundam Seed and Destiny 1/100 series which are not labelled. But those are HGs anyway. To be more specific, the 1/100 Astrays have articulations which is similar to MGs, which means they can move more than normal 1/100s. However the fingers cannot be moved, and the cockpit cannot be opened like the MGs.

It all depends on your budget. I'd say leave out the 1/144s unless you intend to collect the entire series of mecha, eg the 5 GAT-Xs from seed... or Destiny... coz 1/100 would burn your pockets much faster. But then, personally I feel that a 1/144 is not nice due to its small size. Get an MG instead, especially if you're in KL... Graffiti is selling loads of them (although I don't see that much variety of models there when I visited last Sat, only Stargazer and some MGs)

Well, pictures say more than words... so check out dalong.net for tons of mecha...

Where do you guys buy the gundam markers ? I used to get them from a Hobby shop at 1 Utama (not Jusco) but now they have closed shop.

How much are they now ?

I just got my MG Freedom, but i prefer to have everything at hand before i start building it, like i always do with other gundams coz there's some lines you'll need to "gundam marked" before putting the other pieces together.

then bought 2 panel liners and eraser during miniature hobby closing sale.
all less 50%

it's rm5.90 per marker.

i stocked up my paints from there too....50% very cheap.

It really depends on individual preferance. But seriously, start with SDs. you wont regret. cheap and nice. then build your way up. But if you wanna start with better kits. get an MG. Atm i think MG F91 is worth your money.

Not really. Some looks good with only panel lining. But still depends. My friend only collects SDs but never paint and she actually likes it without painting.
But for me, ill paint MG kits as well.
So it depends.
Personally i think SD destiny is pretty neat.

but if you are serious in this, you will gonna spend alot of $$ in this. so be prepared.
last time i told myself that ill only get y fav kit. but now ended up with alot of other kits...hehehe

SF? just found this pic:
http://www.figure.fm/userimages//big/2006102212.jpg
It appears to be redesigned, and looks really similar to the 1/60 bling bling edition. Maybe they just shrunk it for an MG size. But uh uh, me no like bling SF ugh

Of course the pictures beside the box show the real thing tongue.gif But don't expect to get those results if you don't intend to paint or panel line them. Doing panel lines is the minimum requirements anyway... As for paint, most MGs do not require them, while 1/100 and 1/144HG has some areas that need touch ups. NG 1/144s are worthless and hopeless... The proportions suck, the articulation is crap, the colors are hideous.

Again, read dalong.net for picture review, if you know korean you could get more info. The pictures should suffice in telling you about the various movable parts, eg fingers, joints, cockpits... But the downside with dalong.net is if you're planning to get something other than MGs, PGs, HGUCs, or Seed (eg Gundam W, X...), you won't get much help there.

Come on... buy one gundam ASAP tongue.gif

i wish they would release the destiny gundam, i dont really like the SF (dull color scheme and design). However over all i wish there could be more UC MG model kits especially those baddies robot from Zeon, Titans, or Axis. Looked more creative than plain designed gundam.

Or any other suggestions? MG only as PG is too farking expensive for me and HG well.... u know i know la.

Preferably somewhere that would be easier for "tourist" like me to go to. laugh.gif

if u could be so nice and help me check it in XL as well, Id really appreciate it. laugh.gif . But it seems like their crossbone is priced at 150++ while DC's only 143. But I've heard a lot of "stories" bout DC in the other thread. There's a shop in BB plaza also selling models at good price right? somewhere near Metrojaya?

Any other good place to hunt for gundam?

I bought 1/100 Justice X19A and Strike Freedom X20A last month. This month bought 1/100 Astray Red Frame and 1/144 Strike Noir Gundam.
Next month maybe 1/100 destiny or 1/144 Owashi Akatsuki

Haha! no problem!!
But personally, i wont get anything from XL, i mean gundam kits. cos their price is quite expensive.
But since you are only coming down in 2 weeks time, by that time i guess many shops will carry crossbone already.... you might be able to get it around Rm13x at that time. (that's just my estimation..dont flame me if it's not ok? kekeke icon_idea.gif )

yeah...there's one next to metro. Just get down to BB...and scout around. i bet you will have a fruitful day. tongue.gif

omg, ure doin it again deii! gosh i remember the first time i got a gundam. was like a few months back witha 1/144 NG Force Impulse. and i checked in here, u guys were like, "WTF a 1/144 NG?!! get larr HG or MG or PG " and then u also said that i wont be able to stop buying gundams.

hohoho, ur prediction's true. gundams are burning a whole in my pocket cry.gif  haha but im lovin all of em. since the NG FI, i got strike rogue IWSP, blue frame 2nd L, MG zeta, SD Duel and now the latest one, Legend rclxm9.gif

i think z3r0 is just gonna end up like us here. MUAHAHA.
*
Haha... so fast sapu so many gundams adi?
Welcome to the dark side muahahaha.... I don't even dare to try painting mine coz I am afraid I will spend more on it... Then I need to eat grass to support this expensive hobby.

Grafitti.... Go to times square... find McD... it's directly opposite... beside the anime shop. The prices are going according to yen, which means it is the cheapest you can find, and there are hell lots of other toys selling there. But then, the last time I went there I didn't find a lot of variety of gundams.

For fun-browsing I prefer going to Fantasy Toys in Lowyat Plaza coz there are usually more gundams on display. Dunno whether the uncle there is selling cheaper or not, coz everytime I go there sales and discounts are always present.

The best for browsing is still Aunty Lenny's shop in Indah Parade... coz can chit chat for long time and she'll recommend nice items and give opinions on good products. Still remember her showing me 1980s EzS gundam... and also 1993 HG V2 gundam.... super old school models... tongue.gif Almost bought the V2 when I bought the 2nd L... but luckily resisted the temptation.

thanks to duotiga from animesuki.com and 1999.co.jp... burn your pockets... let them burn!!

Finally i got my hands on the MG 1/100 Freedom. Please excuse the messy table biggrin.gif

user posted image

Finished the head. There's only a few outlines coz I ran out of ink of my 0.18 pen. Also I painted the eye part (the cystral part) with blank colour and stick the eye sticker over it. I did a mistake by putting the head together coz now i can't propearly outline the eye lids (the red colour part under the eye) doh.gif.

user posted image

As always, I lineup all the parts in alphabetical order. There's actually alot more in the box ... haven't opened them yet.

Here's a short story. The every first model i built was a HG G Gundam, and the guide shows A23 with B4 ..... and i was like huh.gif coz i found 23 but it does not look like what the guide shows, later I found out its C23, not A23 laugh.gif

do you mean candy toys as trading figures?

if yes..then gashapon are always smaller and the paint job not that nice..and i maen most of it..not all..some gasha really have nice paint job..but its rare..and it also cheap

about trading figure..most of the time they have a nice paint job and also slightly bigger than gasha..they usually come in box and tikam style..but most shop here in malaysia sell them in box set.

I m interested in MG Nemo coz i saw 1 shop selling it at RM90, wonder is it the cheapest price. For Legend, bcoz it can do the following flying pose, but the problem is price, its over RM100, rite?

Hi, everyone. In ur opinion, 1/100 Legend Gundam wit stand or MG Nemo better? Coz i m planning to get one of them, but cant decide.... rclxub.gif
I m interested in MG Nemo coz i saw 1 shop selling it at RM90, wonder is it the cheapest price. For Legend, bcoz it can do the following flying pose, but the problem is price, its over RM100, rite?

Legend should be less than RM100 if you can find the Nemo at RM 90. After all, the Nemo is around 3K yen, while the Legend is 2700+ yen if I'm not mistaken.

Normally, an MG is much more worth it, but then again, the 1/100 Legend comes with a stand, and the articulation is not much inferior compared to MGs. I'd say get the Legend for more gimmicks, stand, and weapons. Nemo only has standard equipment such as rifle, sabres, and shield.

Then again... (!!) MGs are much more fun to build due to the presence of the inner skeleton.

Well.... the best bet... GET BOTH OF THEM tongue.gif

Anyone has comments on the 1/144 HG Destiny Gundam?

unless u hav good hands, working on the small Destiny is quite challenging. But its better than da NG 1:100 as the HG 1:144 has the mirage colloid wings smile.gif

for me panel lining was the most difficult part.

Thanks for reply, hehe...wil try to get both of them. I heard MG Harrison's custom F91 wil release soon, right? IWSP, Crossbone, Strike Freedom...so many temptation. drool.gif

For epsilon_chinwk86, ver.KA is Katoki Hajime(a gundam designer) version.

Heh, saw one guy like buy an MG Strike Rouge and another MG right away at Times Square. Was looking at the MG Titans Mk-II that time.

The shop in Low Yat Plaza have already quoted the price for MG Strike IWSP at RM136 like that.

it looks quite plain outside but when you see its inner frame
you'll "WOW" biggrin.gif

Indeed... but it's kinda potong stim when the armor covers everything up. Like when I was building my MKII, I was ooh ahh with the intricate design of the skeleton. The pistons, the seperate moving levers... but the outer armor covered most of them dry.gif

The F91's frame looked superb too... but again, once the armor has been fixed on, the marvelness is obscured.

Phallic... I LOL'ed at this... Looking at the frame of the Acguy, it's indeed a superb piece of engineering. But the overall shape is really weird. An amphibious teddy bear which looks like a hybrid between a rotten toadstool and a hot cross bun... and now PHALLIC...

I'm a completely noob on gundam here..just got addicted after i've build my first gundam.....just have a question about painting on gundam models. Is there any cheap solution on painting them? like acrylics paints...is it neccessary must go for those Tamiya's paint? Because I found those normal acrylic paints from those art shops, is it ok to use them as the price is very cheap compared to those tamiya's paint.

I use Hobby colour to paint my gundam, much cheaper compare to Tamiya's,but Tamiya's bottle looks larger than Hobby colour. I like Hobby colour more than Tamiya's...By the way,you are hand painting or using airbrush/spraycan?

Maybe other members here can give you opinion on what paint should be used. smile.gif

I have been long didnt assembly and paint a gundam already....no time. sad.gif Still have a lot of boxes I havent started to assembly. Miss my gundam painting time..sob cry.gif

Yeah... it happens on PG Gundam too
the whole skeleton design is magnificient
but after put on the armor
everything is covered and it looks nothing different from a normal 1/60 kit

Now I left my new MG with excellent skeleton "half naked"
right side of the body will put the armor on
while exposing the left portion of the body biggrin.gif
but of course it only applicable for those MG with a complete inner skeleton frame

I seriously doubt this...if it ever comes out, its gonna be a few months after SF MG comes out. Ban Dai should know better than to release two top selling models at the same time.

i dont think it wise to use other paint even for acrylic other than using the paint that made for plastic model..

better go with either mr.hobby or tamiya color..

mr hobby are much more cheaper than tamiya model..but of coz smaller. but personally i think that mr hobby paint color variant are more suitable for gundam and other robot style model..while tamiya color are more for those military and aircraft model..most of them are flat while most of mr hobby color are gloss..

I'm not sure whether u can get extra handset here in Msia, but Japan sure got lar.
Another option is to slice off the fingers to make all d fingers movable...but u might make the grip loosen n find it difficult to hold the sword/rifle.

Another option...make ur own hand from scrapes

Super robot wars series is a good choice, good quality, detailed, 90% color match to original. However price is quite high for 1/144 compare with HGUC, posability lower than the new HGUC kits.

Don't get fooled by its scale
although it's 1/144
it's almost as tall as 1/100 Gundam

All the SRW & Armored Core plastic kits are from Kotobukiya
the color seperation is good but the con side is the parts are small
so when building it need to becareful
not really recommend to newbies in building plastic kits

Haha, believe me,you will get addicted and buy more and more and more until you dont know where else to put biggrin.gif But dont buy those RM30 one, they are pirated. try those HG 1st that is yes around RM60-100. You will notice the difference between original and pirated one. I saw Gunze paints in XL Mid valley at RM5.90 . Mr Hobby is different brand?
*
Gunze paints have two type I think. One is Hobby colour another one is Mr.colour. Hobby colour and Tamiya are acrylic paint, which is more waterish and much easier to paint imo. Mr.colour is enamel paint, which is oily and more difficult for hand painter but the colour can last longer. Imo,for hand painters better go for acrylic paint which is Hobby colour or Tamiya. I personally like hobby colour more. smile.gif

Mr. Color is Lacquer paint
which is arcylic base but need to dissolve with thinner

I've heard that MV want to increase the rent of MH space
so MH decided to shift

kingkong81:
If the flying base is better than MG Strike
then it's worth to get thumbup.gif

Actually I prefer Bandai release the IWSP as options part
then we don't need to have 2 MG Strike
but I think it's impossible sine Bandai want to milk more money from us vmad.gif

Wao...Mr.colour is arcylic base? I dont know tongue.gif . I only know it is like enamel paint, more thicker than normal arcylic paint. Enamel and lacquer are both oil paint right? Whats the difference? By the way,Thanks for the info mate smile.gif

By the way,you use Mr.colour? Cos I heard a lot of expert prefer those thicker paint. I use hobby colour but I also add in a little of thinner...

Don't get fooled by its scale
although it's 1/144
it's almost as tall as 1/100 Gundam

All the SRW & Armored Core plastic kits are from Kotobukiya
the color seperation is good but the con side is the parts are small
so when building it need to becareful
not really recommend to newbies in building plastic kits
*
SRW model kits also have sharp sharp edges where it should be (unlike Bandai's blunt edges for everything), but the poses they have are very limited. I've did some comparison of the poses it can do with a bandai kit in my blog =,=

I'm not quite sure the differences between enamel & lacquer tongue.gif
I just know both of them using different solvent
so you can use them at the same time without melt / mix with each other's color
one example is a lot of people use enamel black color to draw panel line on arcylic / lacquer paint

infested_ysy:
Bandai's models are more "user friendly"
so it's more safe & easy to build
furthermore Bandai also target on younger teenagers or kids
Bandai has to take safety into consideration & made the edge to be blunt
so that we won't hurt our fingers when building the model kits

You can notice that building Kotobukiya's model is harder than Bandai's model biggrin.gif

Get the Taiwan translated Dengeki Hobby magazines for RM8 each issue. Same contents, only less stupid ads.

or alternatively, visit 2chan's /y/ board for magazine scans of upcoming figurines. People post them there from time to time.

Yup those plastic kits made by kotobukiya are really good in quality, colors are well defined and the parts are more than those Bandai HG kits and also more complicated to built than them. Get the upcoming Huckebein MK3 Boxer sure it will be like a PG kit.

Yup those edges are really really sharp! My Alteisen right hand's have a sharp pin which can pinned throw a cardboard, really dangerous for small kids to tackle with.

The poses for those kits are really limited. I played with my HGUC powered GM it is 4 - 5 times more posable than my Alteisen.

True, the news of Taiwanese Dengeki Hobby is late by 2 months, and we can get the latest news online. But I still buy the Taiwan magazine just to get more information, especially on various merchandise like Gashapons (although I never collect them, I just read for fun). Besides, a colorful and vibrant magazine is still more convenient to read than looking at radiation-spewing monitor screens.

The Hong Kong version which costs more is not worth the money. You get the same information, just with different advertisements. Why pay more? The Japanese one, well, I can't read Japanese, and I suppose not many here can; so the Taiwanese version is still the top choice. Gifts? I never buy those... RM 10 extra for a small gift... dry.gif

By the way, the newest issue of Taiwan Dengeki (August 2006) has a scratch-built Delta Astray. Very nice modelling... of a horrendous-looking mecha doh.gif

I remember there is one shop at level one or two, quite good one, they sell original only. I think near Jusco and the escalator in south/north court. Sorry I forgot south or north already.

Yes, it's gold coated
if Bandai just use the yellow color like Hyakushiki Ballute System
I think everyone will kill Bandai for selling it at the price 2,400 yen laugh.gif

The Akatsuki's gold plating is a bit dark, compared to the MG Hyaku or the 1/100 Amatu. In fact, I prefer a lighter plating. Akatsuki's darker tone makes it look really "cheap". Again, refer to dalong.net for pictures tongue.gif

the die cast parts are part of the ankle to provide balance so the kit won't fall over when u pasang the funnels on its back. that's what the tauke told me

the diecast on nu gundam act as the "weight balance" stuff ler....

coz the rear funnel....too heavy...if they didnt add metal stuff to the leg part...it wont stand still....

the old 1/100 nu gundam diecast part even more larger..... sweat.gif

Looks like Bandai is going to increase the price of its new MG line
MG Strike IWSP is selling at 4.2k while MG Aile Strike sell at 3.8k
The price of IWSP ver. is slightly more expensive
since it has replaced the launching pad to a normal display stand
MG GM Sniper sell at 3.5k (same with Crossbone)
and the MG Strike Freedom sell at 4.8k somemore

Don't know about the nu, but my PG MKII die cast part paint chipped since is a first edition, which i think is over 5 years old? anyway not a big problem just sand it and spray with clear coat.

^ it is similar to the WZC stand... or maybe a painted Destiny stand. Whatever it is, it's inferior to the Aile Strike's Launchpad.

Hm... new MGs are getting more and more expensive. Due to more accessories I suppose, as the IWSP should have much more parts. But the GM Sniper... so expensive? Only a few more barrels and cables mah...The SF will cost 4800 yen... unless it comes with bling bling accessories, I think it's a rip-off... even the zeta ver2.0 which has so many parts, gigantic launchpad costs 5K yen... bling bling SF, which is probably Freedom + a few new parts will cost 1K yen extra than the normal Freedom. doh.gif

Haha! Here's the 1/60 Wing Gundam 0 I'm working on... the panel lining almost used up my whole gundam marker! rclxub.gif
Almost done 90%. Still need a semi-gloss coating and some silver painting then it's done. Still haven't got my hands on the material yet.
Nothing major. Took using my phone's camera, not very clear.
Will take again using proper camera when it's complete. tongue.gif

Yeah, i have one, and it was great for a HG. The HG nowadays have more parts than before. The strike noir is an excellent kit, no painting is required, coz it's already quite nice, add a lil bit of panel lines and u'r set to go. It's a reminisence of strike gundam, just a remodified version with wings. Highly recommended if u'r into HG. thumbup.gif

Nope.

But it's compatible with MG F91's stand (I see what you did there, bandai, hurr hurr). Or you could always get the superior Yellow Submarine bendable metal-rubber stand. Though it might cost you like RM50 or so.

It is possible to apply top coat w/out painting 1st. Top coat got 3 types (Gloss, semi-gloss, flat) n it is use to protect the paint/give some surface effect. Gloss will make ur gundam look glossy, semi-gloss less glossy lor, Flat is totally give no-shiny effect..more realistic look.

I try using the Gundam Basic Marker Set, but the quality of the ink fr the marker is sux.

Most of the hardware shops do sell sandpaper no. 600
I'm just using a paper blade cutter & a wire cutter to build my models
Hobby knife is not really important for building your models

Maybe you can get a hobby cutter to replace the wire cutter
it's because hobby cutter will have a flat bottom surface (which will contact with the model surface)
normal wire cutter sometimes will hurt the parts surface when you cut too close to the parts

I try using the Gundam Basic Marker Set, but the quality of the ink fr the marker is sux.

this is how a pro use gundam marker pen to paint his SD kit.

http://www.l-workshop.com/gallery/progm/workprogm.htm

for me I usually use gundam marker pen's paint to paint small/detail parts. I just squeeze the paint out and paint with brush.

With paint brush dun you get uneven surface results and slight smears around? What special brush are you using? I'm still figuring how to paint mine without an airbrush. It's been a long time I didn't colour my Gundams after my compressor died off on me cry.gif

if you don't mind bout the extra work tongue.gif
but use fine sandpaper like no. 1000 & above

Why not use those Mr. Color paint to paint?
Since Gundam Marker is not cheap at all

hamster9:
I've read from a tutorial bout hand brushing:
1) Dilute your paint until not so thick until when you brush on the surface, you should feel smooth during painting
2) Paint in 1 direction, ex. from left to right, but don't paint backwards after that
3) If you've paint the first layer horizontally, then the 2nd layer should paint in vertical direction, and then vice versa

wah.. 1000 sand paper? I using nail thingy what girls always use. Correct me if i'm wrong, we only sand paper those cut edges only right? Or the whole surface? Thanks for the painting tips. About brush, you guys using those hard caligraphy brush or soft brush? I'm using soft brush n tend to get smears. How much is a compressor?

coz me lazy to mix the Mr-Color paint with solvent again. and the paint inside Gundam Marker is really ready to paint, no need solvent. And I only use it to paint small parts/detail.

i also hand-paint noob, usually depend on air-brush. except lazy to mask those small parts/detail, then use hand-paint.

i just use nylon brush, coz more durable. And it take practice to master hand-paint.

To me, after i got the acryllics paint (Mr. Hobby), i think the Gundam Marker really expensive. For RM 50++ u get 5 Marker, but wif RM50++ u can get bout 4 Mr. Hobby colour but it will last u longer than the marker (depends on how u use) and easier to work wif. But for starter, i think the marker will b a better experiment candidate.

To me, the white colour is the worse...it is so watery n have to paint a few time in order to fully cover the plastic. Wat i really dislike about the Gundam Marker is that they r too dilute/watery n make it difficult to paint. The few Marker that i think is really good to use is Black, Silver, Gold, Chrome Silver. Anyway, this depends on personal preference lar.

Yes Dyrenforx, u can sand the parts before colouring with marker. Juz make sure u sand using the more coarse grade (400) and slowly increase to higher grade (1000, 1200) to get a more smooth surface. Wet sanding is useful to have less sanding mark.

Nice website...thx StormV. I try squeezing the marker ink out as well, but it dry up too fast. I haven't get any Mr Retarder Mild/Mr Levelling Thinner which will help to slow down the drying process and help in reducing brushing mark.

I guess, for larger part, the marker is not so good, but for small details/parts the marker is great, especially for panel lining.

I thought it's selling around RM 5.90 - 6.90 now

Don't forget you've still need to use thinner on the paint from Mr. Hobby
and that's another cost to the painting tools tongue.gif

If iI'm not mistaken, there was a pic before showing the grand slam as an uncolored item. But I might be wrong. My guess is the whole thing would be made from plastic but maybe have a shiny blade part.

Gaplant is quite a huge mecha
the HGUC Gaplant should be almost as tall as a MG RX-78-2
it's selling in 2,200 yen (about RM 73)
but of course RM 135 is quite overprice

Custom stand... hm... let's see what custom stand SF will give us. Very unlikely it would be a launchpad, maybe one with extra wires for the dragoons... That's my guess.

But 2200 yen extra for bling bling? Ha! You're having a laugh! It'd be much more economical to buy gold paint and spray the exposed joints.

From the pics, it looks like it is using the proportions of theMG SF, with the SF wings and few addons, like the tummy cannon and shorter railguns.

Meh... still not diggin' it. I am waiting for MG V2 tongue.gif rclxms.gif If BANDAI ever releases it that is. Oh yeah, and if there is ever an MG Tallgeese, that would be one of the sweetest things ever. Tallgeese's design rocks!!

Cheapest Crossbone so far i saw is the one from Low Yat Fantasy Toy. Selling at RM125 but that was the onli one left last Saturday, dunno whether got ppl snatch it or not?

SF coming this November meh? I thought it was onli gonna launch at December at Japan, and when it arive here it should be somewhere near end of December.

Is the Sniper GM coming out around November? I am looking forward on the Sniper Riffle.

I still prefer the normal white F91, even though normally I like blue mechas more (eg Titans versions). The Harrison Madin version has a lighter coat of blue, and I feel that the white V-fin with the white feet are turn-offs. dry.gif If there is a Titans version of the F91 that'd be great, although the Titans have already been wiped out in the era of F91.

Maybe F91 with the color of the X2 Crossbone... dark blue with purple.... thumbup.gif

So many kits coming out before the freezing winter in Japan... But still no signs or news of MG V2 sad.gif

It seems that you have to paint the gold circuit lines yourself tongue.gif and the green beam rings are quite cheesy looking whistling.gif

Stargazer's gold lines can be solved easily. Just buy the gold marker from XL and color away flex.gif I think the result would be much better than what Ban Dai would give. Those cheap plastic gold plates similar to Akatsuki whistling.gif

Aiya this days bandai HG are so attrative unlike before which are craps. Now those HG has almost 80% above color similarity and come with good mobility, can play with them as u like. Just look at the coming up HG Stargazer, TR-5, and the Dog looking mecha, is more attrative than the MG SF to me (dun really like SF design). Hoping bandai will have so more attrative MG coming out, just hope that there will be MG X gundam or a double X gundam.

Like I predicted, the grand slam is made of plastic, dull white plastic!! Not unlike the red frame's katana. whistling.gif What a turn off... In addition, there's no launchpad, only a Destiny-like stand. Better than nothing I suppose.

Besides, the small steel swords of the IWSP pack are also made from the same meh white plastic...

Enjoy painting them silver!!

Nevertheless, look at the amount of parts!! Cool...

I was told that Noir in Strike Noir means black in French
then realized that Duel had the color "Blu" (Blue la)...and thought that Verde in Verde Buster has another similar color meaning. After some searching...Verde means green in Spanish laugh.gif

Anyway, more pics... The more I look at the MG SF, the less impressive it appears to me.

Poo-colored joints... For god's sake, if BANDAI really wants to make golden bling bling for SF, by all means use chrome plated materials, like Hyaku Shiki or Amatu...

I'll give this one a miss...
