AH How can I miss the third thread here !!!
*celebrating ~~~* just curious, which type of sand paper u all use to polish the model surface? I use the most tiny one, but sometimes found it's very hard to do if the unsmooth part of the model is too deep. |

The number on the sandpaper (400, 600, 800, 1000, 1200, 1500..) is actually indicates the sandpaper grit (i.e. how coarse is the sandpaper). The smaller the number, the more coarse it is and you will get less smooth surface...for higher grit number -> vice versa.
Usually you should start sanding using lower grit sandpaper and gradually increasing the sandpaper grit to get a smoother surface. (i.e. 400 --> 600 --> 1200). The 400 grit is to sand off remaining sprues/putty..and the higher gritt sandpaper to get a smooth finish. Try using wet sanding method (dip some water n sand) for the finishing to get a smoother surface. Hopes this will help. |

QUOTE(young_soul @ Sep 26 2006, 11:23 AM) yep, been trying to get those lately. Not the whole set though...its costly Last time i also think like that. But at the end end up 1 or 2 same. When you started to buy its hard to stop buying when you cant get the one you want. I just buy 1-2 boxes at a time and see luck Now i smarter, buy full set cost around S$35 better than lucky picky. ^ yeah it looks nice, but like the CR IJ, it looks nice on websites, but when you see the actual product in boxes, suddenly it doesn't seem that well made at all... there are areas where the paintjob is not as refined as it should be. Hope the CR Akatsuki doesn't have these problems.
Having said that... There's only one gold MS... The HYAKU SHIKI !! Akatsuki... meh... http://www.zlpla.co.kr/zeroboard/view.php?id=gallery&no=971 Meanwhile, we already have: Head Cannon = ZZ Mouth Cannon = Raider, Destroy, Psycho Chest Cannon = Calamity, Abyss, Aegis Tummy Cannon = Strike Freedom Waist Cannon = Sazabi ... ... and now, Groin Cannon !! QUOTE(madpajero @ Sep 26 2006, 07:32 PM) thx. i also would like to know is the result of spray can and normal airbrush is there much difference? the amount of paint spray by spray can is hard to controlso you've to practice more to control the spray so that it won't spray too much on your model Besides that, spray can will suffer the problem of air pressure dropping when you've use it for a long time |

QUOTE(whoami123 @ Sep 27 2006, 07:40 PM) Friend, i'm working at Singapore. I rarely go back Malaysia leh. I can get S$26.90 consider cheaper in Singapore. Malaysia can get Rm50 because suppliers buy with big buck. Because malaysia more challenge in market that why they decreaseing the price if not no 1 would buy. |

F91 is for collectors.
If you are not a 1/60 or F91 collector. Better get something else. If you wanna view the picture of it try googling it "1/60 gundam f91" you will get some results..... |

^ from dalong.net's pictures it seems that there are a lot of unpainted areas, and without panel lines it looks horribly plain. But who doesn't do panel lines?
I would choose F91 over Crossbone, if I were to buy either one of them. Or just wait for V2, which is probable, considering Bandai's venture into 15m mechas. Meh... just get both f91 and Crossbone instead meanwhile... lineart of space helmet astray... and doughnut stargazer. http://i77.imagethrust.com/images/1xSH/vie...333-loow-5.html http://xs207.xs.to/xs207/06394/1158842459625ei4.jpg |

You can use it to colour your gundam. But white marker is quite useless...at least for me. Cos the white can't cover very well. Other colours are fine. |

it doesnt matter that u get your gunpla cheaper or higher...most important is u enjoy building it......like keroro, he very happy that he can built gunpla....
haha, dun know in future i'll hav keroro face or not...hahahahaha zaku tristar is consider 1st gen MG....so we cant compare it with mg like acguy la......like the newly mg MK2 ver 2...the articulation/movement is much more better than PG mk2....buut some how PG advantage is that, it has a very "true form" of mechanism..... the 1/60 f91.....i once read in mag, some consider that kit as the ancester for MG....this is the 1st gunpla that bandai tried for internal frame, it is also be given LED treatment as well.....during that time...it's is a very nicely produced kit...top of the class.... so u can really c how bandai improve..... |

QUOTE(z3r0 @ Oct 3 2006, 11:41 PM) hi guys....... im totaly newb in gundam modelling If you have around rm150 budget, go for an MG kit. For good articulation, get those which has inner frame. But basically depends on personal preferance. I started with 1/60 NG kits and now working on MGs and SDs. Personally recommend SDs for beginners. (I like my destiny SD so much) haha!!wanna know wat is the diffrences in those grades....coz i like to buy one thar suits with my needs. wat i know is perfect grade is super superb.....n the RM 30 model....cant do any special moves....how bout master grade n high grade? i just want to find a gundam model that actually can pose good moves, elbows, knees and also fingers can be move......but not the extend to buy a pg coz its way expensive n may i know the scale refers to wat? 1/100,1/144.....so which is good actually? 1/60, 1/100, 1/144 are sizes of the model. Eg. 1/100 is 1/100 of the original gundam size. the bigger the number, the smaller the model is. Hope the info helps. Maybe some sifu here can add on more. Im still a beginner |

so is it like this :
PG > MG > HG ? but still dun get it.......like if there is no grade state at the box, can we conclude its a "stiff" model,right?.......but seen a kit that has no grade, a 1/100, the gundam astray red frame........that can pose. is it special?....r the movement still limited? how bout the joints n fingers ? |

Hi z3r0,
Don't get the cheap RM30. I got one and regret for the rest of my gundam life. For a beginner, i think u can go for HG 1/144 to get a taste of what is gundam kits...these figures can pose and come with colours, but not that posable if compared with MG (the fingers movement for example). If u have some cash, like what the other sifus said, around RM100-RM150, then go for the MG stuff. Nice inner frame and articulation, size is in 1/100 and posable. If u can't buy the PG, which cost >RM400, then go for the MG. U won't regret one. Now, i collect MG kits. HG kits is around RM50-RM75. These are the range. For 1/100 NG, i haven't try that out, but now waiting for the 1/100 Astray Gold Frame Amatsu to arrive....my 1st NG 1/100. I like it because of how the model looks like, but i bet MG is better...ko lian no MG for that. Some kits u can consider for MG: a) MG Aile Strike b) MG MK2 Ver2 Titans c) MG Zeta Ver2 d) MG Acguy e) MG F91 Go and buy a gundam marker to add panel lines to ur gundam. It's nice u know. Once u start, u'l not stop. That's me. Now i burn $ on gundam kits coz i can't control myself. |

QUOTE(z3r0 @ Oct 4 2006, 04:09 AM) so is it like this : Welcome... another fella who will be stuck knee deep in the quicksands of mecha modelling PG > MG > HG ? but still dun get it.......like if there is no grade state at the box, can we conclude its a "stiff" model,right?.......but seen a kit that has no grade, a 1/100, the gundam astray red frame........that can pose. is it special?....r the movement still limited? how bout the joints n fingers ? Anyway... PG>MG>HG is the rule... with the exception of Gundam Seed and Destiny 1/100 series which are not labelled. But those are HGs anyway. To be more specific, the 1/100 Astrays have articulations which is similar to MGs, which means they can move more than normal 1/100s. However the fingers cannot be moved, and the cockpit cannot be opened like the MGs. It all depends on your budget. I'd say leave out the 1/144s unless you intend to collect the entire series of mecha, eg the 5 GAT-Xs from seed... or Destiny... coz 1/100 would burn your pockets much faster. But then, personally I feel that a 1/144 is not nice due to its small size. Get an MG instead, especially if you're in KL... Graffiti is selling loads of them (although I don't see that much variety of models there when I visited last Sat, only Stargazer and some MGs) Well, pictures say more than words... so check out dalong.net for tons of mecha... |

Where do you guys buy the gundam markers ? I used to get them from a Hobby shop at 1 Utama (not Jusco) but now they have closed shop.
How much are they now ? I just got my MG Freedom, but i prefer to have everything at hand before i start building it, like i always do with other gundams coz there's some lines you'll need to "gundam marked" before putting the other pieces together. |

i bought mine 6pcs set from stardust around rm50 i guess. can't remember.
then bought 2 panel liners and eraser during miniature hobby closing sale. all less 50% it's rm5.90 per marker. i stocked up my paints from there too....50% very cheap. QUOTE(z3r0 @ Oct 4 2006, 04:09 AM) so is it like this : It really depends on individual preferance. But seriously, start with SDs. you wont regret. cheap and nice. then build your way up. QUOTE(chastise @ Oct 4 2006, 10:05 PM) SD stands for super deformed. A very good kit to start with or to keep your hands busy for the weekend. You can check it at www.hlj.com and search for gundam sd. Are you gonna paint it or just assemble? SD needs painting is it? Plan to buy one, but if i don't wana paint, then will it look ugly? Saw some pics at dalong, looks like the SD comes in one or two colour for the whole body.... |

My friend only collects SDs but never paint and she actually likes it without painting. But for me, ill paint MG kits as well. So it depends. Personally i think SD destiny is pretty neat. but if you are serious in this, you will gonna spend alot of $$ in this. so be prepared. last time i told myself that ill only get y fav kit. but now ended up with alot of other kits...hehehe This post has been edited by chastise: Oct 4 2006, 10:27 PM |

SF? just found this pic:
http://www.figure.fm/userimages//big/2006102212.jpg It appears to be redesigned, and looks really similar to the 1/60 bling bling edition. Maybe they just shrunk it for an MG size. But uh uh, me no like bling SF ugh Meh... we demand more AU MGs!! Tallgeese... GX, DX, Deathscythe... QUOTE(z3r0 @ Oct 4 2006, 08:54 PM) thx for the support guys........ Of course the pictures beside the box show the real thing ~StarGazzer~ -how do we actually know some models are in the same "situation" like the Gundam Astray......no finger movements....and cockpit cant open but still hv movements as MG models....... can we believe the pics beside the box? Again, read dalong.net for picture review, if you know korean you could get more info. The pictures should suffice in telling you about the various movable parts, eg fingers, joints, cockpits... But the downside with dalong.net is if you're planning to get something other than MGs, PGs, HGUCs, or Seed (eg Gundam W, X...), you won't get much help there. Come on... buy one gundam ASAP This post has been edited by StarGhazzer: Oct 5 2006, 12:50 AM |

i wish they would release the destiny gundam, i dont really like the SF (dull color scheme and design). However over all i wish there could be more UC MG model kits especially those baddies robot from Zeon, Titans, or Axis. Looked more creative than plain designed gundam.

Next month maybe 1/100 destiny or 1/144 Owashi Akatsuki |

QUOTE(z3r0 @ Oct 5 2006, 09:00 PM) hahahaha.....just notice...the fingers cant be move .... the kit is equipt with 2 kind of hands........ Grafitti.... Go to times square... find McD... it's directly opposite... beside the anime shop. The prices are going according to yen, which means it is the cheapest you can find, and there are hell lots of other toys selling there. But then, the last time I went there I didn't find a lot of variety of gundams. i think i'll get myself a destiny 1/100 For fun-browsing I prefer going to Fantasy Toys in Lowyat Plaza coz there are usually more gundams on display. Dunno whether the uncle there is selling cheaper or not, coz everytime I go there sales and discounts are always present. The best for browsing is still Aunty Lenny's shop in Indah Parade... coz can chit chat for long time and she'll recommend nice items and give opinions on good products. Still remember her showing me 1980s EzS gundam... and also 1993 HG V2 gundam.... super old school models... thanks to duotiga from animesuki.com and 1999.co.jp... burn your pockets... let them burn!! http://www.1999.co.jp/dbimages/user/hobby/...g/10051252a.jpg http://www.1999.co.jp/dbimages/user/hobby/...g/10051948a.jpg http://www.1999.co.jp/dbimages/user/hobby/...g/10051946a.jpg http://www.1999.co.jp/dbimages/user/hobby/...g/10051958a.jpg http://www.1999.co.jp/dbimages/user/hobby/...g/10051945a.jpg This post has been edited by StarGhazzer: Oct 5 2006, 11:50 PM |

QUOTE(epsilon_chinwk86 @ Oct 6 2006, 12:11 AM) Haha! when you really like something, you dont mind spending more on it.I got it cheaper though cos i got some from my friend which he got it from japan. But i spent too much last week...really heartache...with that amount of $$ i can get a PG wing.... and i only plan to get a PG wing when i first started.. hehehe i told myself not to get anymore till i finish assembling all the kits. I wonder how long it will last. haha! Nope.. no crossbone. hehehe! QUOTE(Dark Lynx @ Oct 6 2006, 12:19 AM) really depends on wether u willing to spend or not TRUE!! when ive started....even if i dont feel like getting any kits. but ended up getting one cos it's too irresistable. hehehe....the kits nowadays are really cheap compare to last time for a collector, once u start, the craze never stop edit : typo This post has been edited by chastise: Oct 6 2006, 12:30 AM |

![]() Finally i got my hands on the MG 1/100 Freedom. Please excuse the messy table ![]() Finished the head. There's only a few outlines coz I ran out of ink of my 0.18 pen. Also I painted the eye part (the cystral part) with blank colour and stick the eye sticker over it. I did a mistake by putting the head together coz now i can't propearly outline the eye lids (the red colour part under the eye) ![]() As always, I lineup all the parts in alphabetical order. There's actually alot more in the box ... haven't opened them yet. Here's a short story. The every first model i built was a HG G Gundam, and the guide shows A23 with B4 ..... and i was like |

Esp gundam gashapon if yes..then gashapon are always smaller and the paint job not that nice..and i maen most of it..not all..some gasha really have nice paint job..but its rare..and it also cheap about trading figure..most of the time they have a nice paint job and also slightly bigger than gasha..they usually come in box and tikam style..but most shop here in malaysia sell them in box set. |

Hi, everyone. In ur opinion, 1/100 Legend Gundam wit stand or MG Nemo better? Coz i m planning to get one of them, but cant decide....
I m interested in MG Nemo coz i saw 1 shop selling it at RM90, wonder is it the cheapest price. For Legend, bcoz it can do the following flying pose, but the problem is price, its over RM100, rite? http://old.rfdh.com/dal6102/seed/d12/d12_15.jpg http://old.rfdh.com/dal6102/seed/d12/d12_16.jpg |

Legend should be less than RM100 if you can find the Nemo at RM 90. After all, the Nemo is around 3K yen, while the Legend is 2700+ yen if I'm not mistaken. I'd say get the Legend for more gimmicks, stand, and weapons. Nemo only has standard equipment such as rifle, sabres, and shield. Then again... (!!) MGs are much more fun to build due to the presence of the inner skeleton. Well.... the best bet... GET BOTH OF THEM |

I'm a completely noob on gundam here..just got addicted after i've build my first gundam.....just have a question about painting on gundam models. Is there any cheap solution on painting them? like acrylics paints...is it neccessary must go for those Tamiya's paint? Because I found those normal acrylic paints from those art shops, is it ok to use them as the price is very cheap compared to those tamiya's paint.

Yeah... it happens on PG Gundam too the whole skeleton design is magnificient but after put on the armor everything is covered and it looks nothing different from a normal 1/60 kit Now I left my new MG with excellent skeleton "half naked" right side of the body will put the armor on while exposing the left portion of the body but of course it only applicable for those MG with a complete inner skeleton frame |

QUOTE(dyrenforx @ Oct 10 2006, 01:51 AM) I'm a completely noob on gundam here..just got addicted after i've build my first gundam.....just have a question about painting on gundam models. Is there any cheap solution on painting them? like acrylics paints...is it neccessary must go for those Tamiya's paint? Because I found those normal acrylic paints from those art shops, is it ok to use them as the price is very cheap compared to those tamiya's paint. taiko..welcome to the club chun la, this guy quite artistic..we shall look forward for your work |

There's no news whether the MG Strike IWSP will include the launching pad from MG Strike...
QUOTE(300078 @ Oct 10 2006, 11:07 PM) Super robot wars series is a good choice, good quality, detailed, 90% color match to original. However price is quite high for 1/144 compare with HGUC, posability lower than the new HGUC kits. Don't get fooled by its scalealthough it's 1/144 it's almost as tall as 1/100 Gundam All the SRW & Armored Core plastic kits are from Kotobukiya the color seperation is good but the con side is the parts are small so when building it need to becareful not really recommend to newbies in building plastic kits |

One is Hobby colour another one is Mr.colour. Hobby colour and Tamiya are acrylic paint, which is more waterish and much easier to paint imo. Mr.colour is enamel paint, which is oily and more difficult for hand painter but the colour can last longer. Imo,for hand painters better go for acrylic paint which is Hobby colour or Tamiya. I'm not quite sure the differences between enamel & lacquer I just know both of them using different solvent so you can use them at the same time without melt / mix with each other's color one example is a lot of people use enamel black color to draw panel line on arcylic / lacquer paint infested_ysy: Bandai's models are more "user friendly" so it's more safe & easy to build furthermore Bandai also target on younger teenagers or kids Bandai has to take safety into consideration & made the edge to be blunt so that we won't hurt our fingers when building the model kits You can notice that building Kotobukiya's model is harder than Bandai's model |

QUOTE(300078 @ Oct 11 2006, 08:17 PM) with the current Model Kits price warfare if u get a RM30 - RM50 HG kits it may still be an original. My powered GM is onli worth RM40. HG kits can get RM30plus? Thats more like a BB price to me already... RM 40-50 still possible, but it is rare. And the guy mentioned he got a no grade gundam for RM30,so I was expecting those are pirated one...sunnyboy: Stop spamming...... This post has been edited by Tsuto: Oct 12 2006, 04:07 AM |

I think sunnyboy has the right to post as much as he wants
anyway I don't think that Saviour Gundam will sell much...looking at the hand mechanism which Stargazer posted the other day, I was hoping this to be a practice before they come out with Gaia |

The Akatsuki's gold plating is a bit dark, compared to the MG Hyaku or the 1/100 Amatu. In fact, I prefer a lighter plating. Akatsuki's darker tone makes it look really "cheap". Again, refer to dalong.net for pictures |

the die cast parts are part of the ankle to provide balance so the kit won't fall over when u pasang the funnels on its back. that's what the tauke told me

Looks like Bandai is going to increase the price of its new MG line
MG Strike IWSP is selling at 4.2k while MG Aile Strike sell at 3.8k The price of IWSP ver. is slightly more expensive since it has replaced the launching pad to a normal display stand MG GM Sniper sell at 3.5k (same with Crossbone) and the MG Strike Freedom sell at 4.8k somemore |

^ it is similar to the WZC stand... or maybe a painted Destiny stand. Whatever it is, it's inferior to the Aile Strike's Launchpad.
Hm... new MGs are getting more and more expensive. Due to more accessories I suppose, as the IWSP should have much more parts. But the GM Sniper... so expensive? Only a few more barrels and cables mah...The SF will cost 4800 yen... unless it comes with bling bling accessories, I think it's a rip-off... even the zeta ver2.0 which has so many parts, gigantic launchpad costs 5K yen... bling bling SF, which is probably Freedom + a few new parts will cost 1K yen extra than the normal Freedom. Haha! Here's the 1/60 Wing Gundam 0 I'm working on... the panel lining almost used up my whole gundam marker!
Almost done 90%. Still need a semi-gloss coating and some silver painting then it's done. Still haven't got my hands on the material yet. Nothing major. Took using my phone's camera, not very clear. Will take again using proper camera when it's complete. ![]() This post has been edited by chastise: Oct 14 2006, 03:26 AM |

The strike noir is an excellent kit, no painting is required, coz it's already quite nice, add a lil bit of panel lines and u'r set to go. It's a reminisence of strike gundam, just a remodified version with wings. Highly recommended if u'r into HG. |

QUOTE(blur_goofy @ Oct 17 2006, 03:51 PM) hey guys! Most of the hardware shops do sell sandpaper no. 600does any1 know where to get sand paper 600 n a good quality hobby knife? my location is w.maju. I'm just using a paper blade cutter & a wire cutter to build my models Hobby knife is not really important for building your models Maybe you can get a hobby cutter to replace the wire cutter it's because hobby cutter will have a flat bottom surface (which will contact with the model surface) normal wire cutter sometimes will hurt the parts surface when you cut too close to the parts |

this is how a pro use gundam marker pen to paint his SD kit.
http://www.l-workshop.com/gallery/progm/workprogm.htm for me I usually use gundam marker pen's paint to paint small/detail parts. I just squeeze the paint out and paint with brush. This post has been edited by StormV: Oct 17 2006, 07:31 PM |

Yes, you can do like that if you don't mind bout the extra work but use fine sandpaper like no. 1000 & above StormV: Why not use those Mr. Color paint to paint? Since Gundam Marker is not cheap at all hamster9: I've read from a tutorial bout hand brushing: 1) Dilute your paint until not so thick until when you brush on the surface, you should feel smooth during painting 2) Paint in 1 direction, ex. from left to right, but don't paint backwards after that 3) If you've paint the first layer horizontally, then the 2nd layer should paint in vertical direction, and then vice versa |

wah.. 1000 sand paper? I using nail thingy what girls always use. Correct me if i'm wrong, we only sand paper those cut edges only right? Or the whole surface? Thanks for the painting tips. About brush, you guys using those hard caligraphy brush or soft brush? I'm using soft brush n tend to get smears. How much is a compressor?

Can I really use sand paper on the gundam parts first before I do marker coloring? not sure bout tis... To me, the white colour is the worse...it is so watery n have to paint a few time in order to fully cover the plastic. Wat i really dislike about the Gundam Marker is that they r too dilute/watery n make it difficult to paint. The few Marker that i think is really good to use is Black, Silver, Gold, Chrome Silver. Anyway, this depends on personal preference lar.Yes Dyrenforx, u can sand the parts before colouring with marker. Juz make sure u sand using the more coarse grade (400) and slowly increase to higher grade (1000, 1200) to get a more smooth surface. Wet sanding is useful to have less sanding mark. QUOTE(StormV @ Oct 17 2006, 07:30 PM) this is how a pro use gundam marker pen to paint his SD kit. Nice website...thx StormV. I try squeezing the marker ink out as well, but it dry up too fast. I haven't get any Mr Retarder Mild/Mr Levelling Thinner which will help to slow down the drying process and help in reducing brushing mark.http://www.l-workshop.com/gallery/progm/workprogm.htm for me I usually use gundam marker pen's paint to paint small/detail parts. I just squeeze the paint out and paint with brush. I guess, for larger part, the marker is not so good, but for small details/parts the marker is great, especially for panel lining. |

Mr. Hobby that expensive? I thought it's selling around RM 5.90 - 6.90 now Don't forget you've still need to use thinner on the paint from Mr. Hobby and that's another cost to the painting tools |

Gaplant is quite a huge mecha
the HGUC Gaplant should be almost as tall as a MG RX-78-2 it's selling in 2,200 yen (about RM 73) but of course RM 135 is quite overprice Gaplant at dalong.net |

Custom stand... hm... let's see what custom stand SF will give us. Very unlikely it would be a launchpad, maybe one with extra wires for the dragoons... That's my guess. But 2200 yen extra for bling bling? Ha! You're having a laugh! It'd be much more economical to buy gold paint and spray the exposed joints. From the pics, it looks like it is using the proportions of theMG SF, with the SF wings and few addons, like the tummy cannon and shorter railguns. Meh... still not diggin' it. I am waiting for MG V2 http://ahchi.net/WGUNDAMTALLGEESE.html This post has been edited by StarGhazzer: Oct 19 2006, 08:51 PM |

Aiya this days bandai HG are so attrative unlike before which are craps. Now those HG has almost 80% above color similarity and come with good mobility, can play with them as u like. Just look at the coming up HG Stargazer, TR-5, and the Dog looking mecha, is more attrative than the MG SF to me (dun really like SF design). Hoping bandai will have so more attrative MG coming out, just hope that there will be MG X gundam or a double X gundam.

Like I predicted, the grand slam is made of plastic, dull white plastic!! Not unlike the red frame's katana. Besides, the small steel swords of the IWSP pack are also made from the same meh white plastic... Enjoy painting them silver!! Nevertheless, look at the amount of parts!! Cool... I was told that Noir in Strike Noir means black in French
then realized that Duel had the color "Blu" (Blue la)...and thought that Verde in Verde Buster has another similar color meaning. After some searching...Verde means green in Spanish This post has been edited by young_soul: Oct 22 2006, 06:15 PM |

^ just buy any silver paint or marker?
http://ga.sbcr.jp/g-toys/plamodel2006/21/index.html#04 Anyway, more pics... The more I look at the MG SF, the less impressive it appears to me. Poo-colored joints... For god's sake, if BANDAI really wants to make golden bling bling for SF, by all means use chrome plated materials, like Hyaku Shiki or Amatu... I'll give this one a miss... BENDI !! what have you done to my beloved MKII?? dang... the website is even copied from dalong.net http://dashe.cn/foldor/mg.files/dm38/photo.htm This post has been edited by StarGhazzer: Oct 22 2006, 09:57 PM |
