Yup. To get high OC while reducing the chance of your CPU overheating, it is better to have performance HSF.

There are a lot of good high performance HSF in the market. It depends on you which one you want. For price/performance HSF, I recommend the Xigmatek s1293!!! However, this is quite a new HSF and still awaiting further reviews on this HSF.

is the price expensive for this heatsink? do i need to have alot of casing fan to work with it? because for now im not having a casing fan, 1 more things, is it very stress for 3000+ to work in vista? as im using vista now and overclock my pc to 245Mhz FSB, it works ok, but still playing games is quite lag, even with old games like counter strike it still lags

Price is RM 17x in bulk. However, don't take my word for it. You should do some research and see what type of heatsink would be suitable for you and your rig.

No need a lot of casing fan. But the more the better!

Currently, it is a no no to play games in Vista. Not until DX10 comes out anyway.....

hmmm, i thought dx10 was released, that means the game wont be smooth until i have dx10? currently i dont have any casing fan, i open up the casing and let be so, sometimes when the weather is hot i will switch on my fan to cool it, is there anymore cheaper alternative? hmmm, what clock speed will that heatsink bring 3000+ to?

What I mean is GOOD DX10 games. The one game many people are waiting for is "crysis", only coming out in November.

Games in Vista won't be as smooth as in Windows XP as the graphic drivers are not mature yet. Still buggy too. With time, it will improve but as of now, it is not recommended to game in Vista unless you have a high-end GC that can crank out high fps, making any slow down not noticeable......

There's a lot of cheap computer fans. Go shopping at pc fair! laugh.gif

it's called the " Cool 'n Quite "
as long as you enable (in BIOS) , it will work always (low multi when idle) .
some may encounter unstable when overclock + CNQ while some don't .
try it out yourself .

brows.gif adala... whistling.gif whistling.gif whistling.gif, well startup vCORE is 1.350, with maximum recommended 1.400, the thing is, i'm not willing to risk my new processor get fried just because of too much vCORE applied, is it 1.500vCORE too much icon_idea.gif unsure.gif

yeah, 1.5v seems too much for Toledo, expecially for FX-60. my X2 can did 2.9GHz @ 1.328v which is 1.35v on BIOS brows.gif

tried set you RAM at the lowest speed eg, 400,533,667,800, and play with the CPU multiplier

do ever notice that i'm on DDR1? it's impossible for my Aeneon ValueRAM to run at DDR800, even DDR667..., if only i still have my TCCD, DDR670 which is good for DDR1 whistling.gif...

actually, i've done that, tried on lowest memory speed (DDR200), still can't go, it's just won't go beyond 3.0GHz, aiyah... my old Venice 3000+ at least can boot up at 3.0GHz le...

if i were you, i'll go switch the PSU to a better one, say a nice, strong single +12 rail icon_idea.gif...

ok, anyway... usually, when i overclock, i'll find the highest my CPU can go with stock memory clock, in order to do that, you have to use memory divider, limiting your memory clock to DDR400 (200MHz x 2) or below to ensure, the RAM clock woudn't be too high), from there, increase your CPU FSB by 5MHz or 10MHz until you can't log on to windows, until then... just keep increasing tongue.gif, say at 250MHz x 9 (your CPU's multiplier is @ 9.0x), the system locked up, don't be afraid, reboot (hard-reboot if you have to) and decrease to say... 240MHz and reboot... should be ok to log on to windows, kindly run a short test, in this "section", i prefer use SuperPI 1M calculation, quick and simple, if your system shows an error in 1M calculation meaning your system's not stable, either play with vCORE or decreasing the CPU FSB until you managed to get passed in 1M SuperPI calculation... say, you passed on 235MHz @SuperPI 1M calculation, it's time for your system running on long run test, 32M SuperPI should be ok, but i prefer Prime95, run it overnight >5Hrs considered stable enough (for me la...)

same goes to memory, finding highest memory clock... set the CPU multiplier down to 5x, with stock memory clock (not using the memory divider), slightly increase the CPU FSB until you managed to find a good stable memory clock... icon_idea.gif, testing and testing all same as CPU test (above)...
