Anybody knows any hyperlinks to core temperatures for X2? Both overclocked version and stock clocks, with references to the type of cooling e.g. on air, water....

Thx.

Anyway, just got my brand new OEM X2 4200+.

Don't dare to OC it too much as my HSF is not that good.

Did try to OC with C&Q enabled but quickly found out that I can't!!!!

(Used to be able to use C&Q while OC when I had my 3500+ single core.... sad.gif )

Was just trying to OC without C&Q and managed to OC until 2572 Mhz before I chicken out. Stock voltage too!!! rclxms.gif rclxms.gif

I know I know, have to stress test with orthos...... one day, when I'm brave enough..... have to wait for my new HSF too...

haha .. marc .. ur x-fi extreme music good ar ??
expensive le .. 600 + right ?
anyway , i'm still thinking why bother getting expensive sound card ..
maybe u can explain ? xD !
*
Sorry, didn't see your post.

The x-fi extreme music is definitely good but not necessary. I found that my on-board Realtek97 audio is more than adequate. However, your fps will be slightly lower if you use on-board audio.

I bought mine about 1 year ago, cost me RM 450.

Anyway, I saw people bulking it in the bulk section. Now, cheaper, around RM3++, I think. Look in the bulk section. Search for "creative"...... thumbup.gif

HI i just got my hand into 3800+ x2.. i was able to oc the proc to 2.5, using software like clock gen, a64 tweaker and ntune... prime test both core for 3-4 hours.. so i tot it was stable.. but when i try to set it in the bios.. the computer wont boot into my vista or xp, it just looping, without giving me any error. is it stable? if cannot set in the bios i can set it as startup.
*
Ya, that means that the OC is not stable.

What are the settings that you change in windows? Make sure that all those changes are done in the bios too. e.g. forgetting to set the rams divider, etc.

I'm also OC in windows. Once it is stable, then I try changing it in the bios. So far, I've manage to boot at 2.6 Ghz without any problems.

Why not try A64info? You can set the memclk frequency from inside windows.

Caution: Don't try to change the rest of the settings unless you know how. If not, you'll get BSODs and reboots!!!

HI Guys..

New in Overclock CPU. It seems to be more complicated than last time where changing the multiplier will do.

I have a AMD64X2 4600 2.4GHz (Windsor) 200MHz X 12
Single slot Kingston 1G Kingston DDR667MHz at 300MHz 5-5-5-15
MSI K9n Neo

Anybody have the same specs as mine? I am thinking of OC step by step...

need help.

OC graphic card is easy....

using MSI6800GS OC (550/1400)

See this thread : http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...post&p=11634502

Just that you have to find out how to set the DDR2 (haven't updated that yet!)

I'm running fsb 240x12.5 @3.0ghz vcore1.45v. Should i lower the multiplier to increase the fsb cause i can't get pass fsb 245. Now still prime for more than 6hours no error but too high temp 58'c+.
*
Errr.... I thought it is not advisable to set multipliers to half (I see yours at 12.5).

AMD4800+ brisbane 2.5ghz = 200fsb x 12.5 default http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/cpu/displ...brisbane_5.html

Added on June 7, 2007, 3:37 amWhen idle my temp is around 45'C. But when i prime or orthos my temp go up to 65'C and above . Izzit normal to have the temp so high for 3.0ghz?
*
Download core temp ver 0.94. It has a parameter called TCaseMax. This temperature will give you a rough guide as to how high your proc can run at 100% stability and reliability.

Both 0.94 and 0.95 core temp can't read the tcasemax.
*
Oops! You're using the brisbane core? I've have come across a few people who have problems with temp reading in the brisbane core.

Unconfirmed but they say that the brisbane core may have a defective temperature sensor. That may be the reason why your core temp is so low!

Here's one link : http://www.alcpu.com/forums/viewtopic.php?...4506f3b16bde900

Try googling for brisbane temperature problems.....

Other things that you can try:
Reflash your BIOS to the newest update
Use other temp sensor programs
Use your mobo's temperature sensor

noobie here..

i'm using brisbane 3600x2 am2, hynix hpy5-c4 512x2 667, x 1650pro..
currently running at 2.62(ram n gc didn'nt oc)
i just bought this proc last friday n running it 4 48 hours at 2.62..
then i wander why my cpu temp is very cool..
its reading is around 26-32(depend on surronding)
is it ok??
*
Is the temperature at idle or at load?
A bit too low temp. What cpu hsf are you using? What app are you using for monitoring the proc temp/

QUOTE(afosz @ Jun 17 2007, 05:35 PM)
Just get my 3600+ Brisbane and Biostar TA690G with a pair of Mushkin DDR2-667 1GB. I want to OC, but even running at stock, my cpu-z shows

Core Speed: 1000 MHz
Multiplier: x 5.0
Bus Speed: 200 MHz
HT Link: 800 MHz ( I change it at BIOS)

How do I get 9.5 multiplier? I've been trying around, but none change it. And also I didn't find CnQ features too
*
I think you're running the CnQ. Run a CPU intensive program and I'm sure it will go up to normal speed. Use some program like Orthos to stress the CPU...

Do you want to run CnQ?

@uzairi - Eh? For toledo core, 1.5v is acceptable meh? For air-cooling or water-cooling?

I'm using toledo too but at 1.42v already me sweating like what...... sweat.gif

Toledo at 1.6v??!!?? sweat.gif sweat.gif Could you please give me some references and hyperlinks on this? If these voltages are considered safe for toledo (relatively speaking of course), me wanna OC some more!!! rclxm9.gif

actually 1.6 is not so ok... coz i 2.70GHz @ 1.5Vcore, speedfan showing 60C++
its more when check with core temp...

so i downclock a bit running at 2.67GHz @ 1.42Vcore.. Temp is acceptable on my nitrogon nt06. orthosing at around 50C++ with low fas speed...

Just wanna know if i change mobo to KN8 <-- Not Ultra
dunno can run at lower vcore or not ler???

BTW, is my psu consider good for oc? see my sig...
*
Ya, I tried 1.45v and managed to get 2.85 Ghz! However, my core temp jumped up to 61-62'c!!! sweat.gif sweat.gif

Decided to put back to normal vcore... cool2.gif

I should think a 500w PSU should be enough, as your rig doesn't consume much wattage....

@ uzairi - thx for the reference! Really helpful! thumbup.gif

Was wondering whether you can tell me where you got it from. Wanna see what other info they have! biggrin.gif

I guess my toledo would be safe until 1.5v. However, at 1.45v and at 2.84 Ghz, already 60-61'c!! More than the recommended max of 60'c..... sad.gif

Which thread are you talking about? I see you have already gone to fundamental's of overclocking. What not use clockgen? Is has a version of nforce mobo's too....

QUOTE(Kenny4820 @ Aug 4 2007, 01:02 AM)
ha, using clock gen now, but not very understand about the ram stuff is it the best to set the the frequency of the RAM to be 1:1 to the FSB? dont really understand the memory part of this site:

http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...&#entry11634502

why we need to change the frequency of RAM from 200MHz to 166Mhz ? then how to add back the 30Mhz in that example? what is the best speed anyone get to overclock 3000+ venice without changing the cpu fan?
*
The guide is for overclocking the CPU. The reason for reducing the RAM to 166Mhz or lower is so that you are not overclocking the ram when you OC the CPU. This way, you can find the limit of the CPU without the RAMS holding your OC back.

If you lower the ram speed to 166Mhz, the speed will gradually increase once you increase the CPU frequency....

I thought of doing a guide for RAM OC but mod doesn't think my previous guides were that useful. So, I gave up. sad.gif
