QUOTE(kmarc @ Aug 3 2007, 01:23 PM) Which thread are you talking about? I see you have already gone to fundamental's of overclocking. What not use clockgen? Is has a version of nforce mobo's too.... ha, using clock gen now, but not very understand about the ram stuff is it the best to set the the frequency of the RAM to be 1:1 to the FSB? dont really understand the memory part of this site: http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...entry11634502why we need to change the frequency of RAM from 200MHz to 166Mhz ? then how to add back the 30Mhz in that example? what is the best speed anyone get to overclock 3000+ venice without changing the cpu fan?

QUOTE(kmarc @ Aug 4 2007, 02:04 AM) The guide is for overclocking the CPU. The reason for reducing the RAM to 166Mhz or lower is so that you are not overclocking the ram when you OC the CPU. This way, you can find the limit of the CPU without the RAMS holding your OC back. If you lower the ram speed to 166Mhz, the speed will gradually increase once you increase the CPU frequency.... I thought of doing a guide for RAM OC but mod doesn't think my previous guides were that useful. So, I gave up. oo, but i think max speed will not be archived by me since i'm using the original cpu fan, dunno wat fan to buy and i think high clock speed will giv a very high temperature

QUOTE(kmarc @ Aug 4 2007, 10:22 AM) Yup. To get high OC while reducing the chance of your CPU overheating, it is better to have performance HSF. There are a lot of good high performance HSF in the market. It depends on you which one you want. For price/performance HSF, I recommend the Xigmatek s1293!!! However, this is quite a new HSF and still awaiting further reviews on this HSF. is the price expensive for this heatsink? do i need to have alot of casing fan to work with it? because for now im not having a casing fan, 1 more things, is it very stress for 3000+ to work in vista? as im using vista now and overclock my pc to 245Mhz FSB, it works ok, but still playing games is quite lag, even with old games like counter strike it still lags

QUOTE(kmarc @ Aug 4 2007, 05:04 PM) Price is RM 17x in bulk. However, don't take my word for it. You should do some research and see what type of heatsink would be suitable for you and your rig. No need a lot of casing fan. But the more the better! Currently, it is a no no to play games in Vista. Not until DX10 comes out anyway..... hmmm, i thought dx10 was released, that means the game wont be smooth until i have dx10? currently i dont have any casing fan, i open up the casing and let be so, sometimes when the weather is hot i will switch on my fan to cool it, is there anymore cheaper alternative? hmmm, what clock speed will that heatsink bring 3000+ to?

QUOTE(kmarc @ Aug 5 2007, 01:17 PM) What I mean is GOOD DX10 games. The one game many people are waiting for is "crysis", only coming out in November. Games in Vista won't be as smooth as in Windows XP as the graphic drivers are not mature yet. Still buggy too. With time, it will improve but as of now, it is not recommended to game in Vista unless you have a high-end GC that can crank out high fps, making any slow down not noticeable...... There's a lot of cheap computer fans. Go shopping at pc fair! oo, i just bought a hd2600 graphic card in this pc fair, mid end graphic card, but still feel the lagness of the game, hmmm, any recommendation
