Deloitte has Lafarge Cement (M) Bhd, MahSing Bhd etc.
BDO's biggest client is IOI (if not mistaken).

Btw, when you face big clients, you will know the pain in your behind part smile.gif

hi guys,

just want to ask about registration for KPMG: Their website states that we need to include a scanned copy of our academic transcript together with the resume in one file. So does it means that we need to put it in the same Microsoft Word file with the resume? sry kinda noob here.

Sorry i'm at work - if I remember correctly, the website accepts PDF?

Nevertheless, my advice is, if they ask for it, give it to them, Open your transcript (scanned) and "print screen"
then paste the image at the end of your resume

Hope this helps

Well, am I wrong to say minimum is still zero, then?
*
Well technically speaking minimum was still zero, but you have to know any company which is performance based will have ppl getting zero bonus since they are not performing. And minimum for average performer was definately 2 or above which you probably have gave a wrong indication and impression to the readers.

as i've mentioned before in the earlier postings, there are no tips that we can give you, to prepare for the interview.
only thing is, you have to be impromptu and think fast (as thanatos mentioned), most of the time its not really how right is your answer, but rather how convincing and how good you are at presenting your answer.

having said so, that was my interviewer which did not touch on standards or anything theoratical. maybe you'd do well in reading up some of the hot and upcoming standards, just in case.

Hi, I want to ask, how is Tax at PWC like? I'm being considered for tax even though I wanted to go Audit (because pwc say audit too many application biggrin.gif) I'm just scared that with tax, my options are more limited and also, not so easy to if want to move to different country... cause tax is different for each country.

If I apply to the other big 4 for audit, i think i will get rejected... cause my grades are only so-so sad.gif

Hmm don't mind me asking, do you have connections in PwC to bypass the screening process? Otherwise, it wouldn't make much sense to me cuz PwC is usually the one more stringent on selections, and if you could get through that, I don't see why you couldn't get through the other Big4 screening process.

But to get you the interview, your grades must at least make the cut during their filtering stage to be called for interview.

Haha no connections.

They apparently lacked people in tax. At a recent career fair, they just took applications on the day itself and told people to just come for the assessment. So basically went straight to test+interview.

My main concern is whether tax got transferable skills...cause hoping 5-10 years in the future can go to a different country and work there. Tax differs from country to country, so quite concerned...

That's why KPMG rejected me I think. Super fast, within 8 hours... kinda like the system just went "Grade test fail. Rejecting application."

My advice is unless if you are very sure of your career path or dreams then start with audit. It gives you a very clear picture of many pros and cons of each industry and line. After you get a rough idea you can make the selection.

Tax learning curve is quite slow at junior level bu go skyrocket once reach higher level. Everyday i see tax people leave around 5pm. Even peak is only 2 or 3 weeks max. Rarely travel, most to IRB office near jalan duta or pandan indah for tax filling. Not sure about other firm (but guess pretty much the same) in audit we already do the tax comp and deferred tax for them so much of their work is already covered by audit.

The real value comes from the top, tax planning, transfer pricing, VAT, ..... all these are value added service which comes the real fun. Client likes you and paid you more (better than audit la) but to reach that level you need certain years of experience la. The fields I just mentioned is a general skills can be applied in many country but the tax computation part is different in each. I have some lucky chance to expose to australian, singapore and malaysian tax the core principle is about the same just a minor twitch here and there. Singapore are much easier and much more lenient. Seriously why foreign companies still coming to MYS is beyond me. tongue.gif
