I think this is where you are wrong. For the Big 4s they are still hiring at the moment, its just that the criterias have become more stringent.

After all, right now supply outstrips demand, you can afford to be picky about your future employee and make sure you hire the best out of the pool of labour workforce. So essentially, yes they are being picky and hiring less, but that does not equate to not hiring at all.

p/s: my 2 cents.

I was required to sit for numerical and verbal reasoning tests, before finishing with essay writing. I forgot the name of the company that prepared the questions, but I would say that the level of difficulty for both papers is slightly higher than SHL direct's questions. The assessment ended with essay writing. Six topics were given, which cover financial and business issues relevant to today's economic climate. (I applied for audit btw)

The interview with the partner was helpful and constructive. It was relaxed and I believe PwC genuinely wants to know who we are, our interests, strengths and weaknesses etc. My tip is to be yourself. Remember to smile and be confident.

PwC, EY and KPMG are generally the major players in Malaysia and then comes Deloitte (with a gap in between).

Rumour has it that, "D" in Malaysia is in fact the big joke in the financial industry.
*
PwC- Huge Conglomerate
EY- Diverse & Wide Base Of Clients
KPMG- Big Bro In Financial Institutions Field
Deloitte- Da Best Tax Dept

They're Known As Big4 For A Reason, And Da Reasons Are Per Above. Each Has Their Pros & Cons.
Just My 2 Cents.

Added on July 3, 2009, 4:49 pmI got an offer from a medium firm in JLN IPOH lately. 2k+ the salary, it seems good, and i would like to join also. however, my parents said the place looks dangerous, as the street is dark at night, and all malays, if i OT , then it really dangerous. some more my friend's dad said the place will full with those drug addicts at night..... rclxub.gif Hence, looks like i force to reject the job.sigh. dunu wat to do already......

It's da client you get to audit & those special task opportunities given, rather than your firm that make all da differences.
Special task? Examples are like due diligence or maybe secondments =)
Often people are misled by da glamorous of da firm instead of their own career development. Even with da best firms, your brain will still filled with peanuts if you don't appreciate and enjoy the beauty of audit works.

that is cause the basic is 2.4k + CPF 14.5% = 2.7/2.8K. In the long run (Unless he turns PR later), his has no EPF savings.

Thx for your info lenglui,
Anyway every Big4 in SG pays 2.7k for AA2?
Will we be downgraded into AA2 if we're AA1 in Malaysia?
