Hi All,

Does anyone know where can I find Leopard or Sulcata tortoise here in KL? Xmas is soon so I thought want to add my tortoise collection. Currently I've a pair of Star Torts.

Last time what I found out is Leopard costs around RM250 and Sulcata costs around RM500 for hatchling.

For Pig Nose Turtles, I remember I saw lots of them at Tmn Taynton around June this year. Not sure if all have been sold out or not. CarmenC if you live in Kl, wish you good luck to buy them.

Anyway, anybody know how long it takes for Star Torts to grow into about 6 inches? Mine currently is 3 inches only. Is it all Star Tort will have the bumpy shell?

Ive seen only 1 Boxie with SCL less than 3 inches all my whole life and that was when i was standard 6 which is 10 years back.

Nice boxies, I like the way their plastrons are able to seal their limbs off so it looks like a neat empty shell without things poking out of it  biggrin.gif

Yeah, indeed they are great.

You can find them at Pets Safari Ikano Power Centre at Damansara. They have variety of the tortoises including sulcata. Leopard a bit hard to find here.

Here's the old dude in Aquaria KLCC at the flooded forest section. He seems to be gigantic....but I think the water depth is playing optical tricks to the eye...I think he might be a Pelochelys bibroni

Pelochelys bibroni(Asian Giant Softshelled Turtle) or Chitra chitra(Striped Narrow Headed Soft Shell turtle) might be that turtle. They both looks almost the same. No doubt about the giants(Pelochelys) there was a huge specimen, so might be Pelochelys since they can grow very big. Nice turtle i must say, someone offered me Chitra Chitra before but im not interested.

Hi fellas,

Where can I buy a pair of Pig Nose Turtles. I remembered seeing them around sometime back. Went looking all over but not available. The fishshop told me it's illegal and it's classified under endangered species. If caught selling they will be fine by the wifelife dept.

Is this true?

Even if you managed to find the PNTs, it not advisable to keep more than 1 in a tank. They tend to be aggresive towards each other. They do need big tanks though.

Here's a pic of mine. biggrin.gif

Hey, after looking at the pic, I remember I saw this Pig Nose Turtle inside a pets store at Giant, Tmn Connaught. I remember it because its underside is white color. Cute turtles. The one I saw is around 7-8 inches. Around 5-6 months ago.

Went Ikano Pets Safari last month but couldn't see any sulcata there. Only Star Tort and Hingeback. Some time ago I did see 2 Leopards at Pets Family, Tmn Megah,PJ, but the next day I went the, they are already sold. *Sigh*

Went to Natural Aquatic also few weeks back but saw only a few Sulcata. Priced a bit high, but unfortunately I think those remain there are all male. They looks a bit blur and didn't show much respond when I try to handle them. An unhealthy sign.

Uzairi, so sorry to hear that man! My my...how did they manage to climb out from the box? Where did you put him? Maybe can share with us the picture and we can all try to think of the possibilities of escaping?

Anyhow, making its way from 9th floor, i dont think it will reach the ground safely so either you find it or not, probably worst then what you expect. Be cool buddy and dont think bout it anymore, start hunting for new ones and take care of the rest!

They priced around rm500-rm600 and that is normal. With that size, u cannot determine the sex and the best thing to see whether they are active or not is to visit the pet shop on evening since they are quite active that time.

Uzairi, sorry bout your loss but dont be too upset since its over and no point crying over spilled milk. Anyway i am pretty curious as well whether how yours and ekiddie's turtle manage to escape. Would you guys illustrate more on your setup? It will help others to prevent this from happening next time.

Anyway the bigger sotfshell in Aquaria is a Chitra chitra,as per in the picture posted by our forummer.

Cheers.

Hun : They got for display is it ? I didnt know coz never go to sunway lagoon. laugh.gif
