Hi All,

Does anyone know where can I find Leopard or Sulcata tortoise here in KL? Xmas is soon so I thought want to add my tortoise collection. Currently I've a pair of Star Torts.

Last time what I found out is Leopard costs around RM250 and Sulcata costs around RM500 for hatchling.

For Pig Nose Turtles, I remember I saw lots of them at Tmn Taynton around June this year. Not sure if all have been sold out or not. CarmenC if you live in Kl, wish you good luck to buy them.

Anyway, anybody know how long it takes for Star Torts to grow into about 6 inches? Mine currently is 3 inches only. Is it all Star Tort will have the bumpy shell?

Hey, after looking at the pic, I remember I saw this Pig Nose Turtle inside a pets store at Giant, Tmn Connaught. I remember it because its underside is white color. Cute turtles. The one I saw is around 7-8 inches. Around 5-6 months ago.

Went Ikano Pets Safari last month but couldn't see any sulcata there. Only Star Tort and Hingeback. Some time ago I did see 2 Leopards at Pets Family, Tmn Megah,PJ, but the next day I went the, they are already sold. *Sigh*

Went to Natural Aquatic also few weeks back but saw only a few Sulcata. Priced a bit high, but unfortunately I think those remain there are all male. They looks a bit blur and didn't show much respond when I try to handle them. An unhealthy sign.

Hiya All,

Well I also have a pair of Star Torts which are 2 inches+. When first bought them didn't know bout the importance of heat lamp so one of them has a serious runny nose. It was so serious that the Star Torts stop eating and drinking altogether for 2 weeks. Worry bout it so occasionally will bath it in warm water but at last decided to see a Vet. Cost bout RM35.

The vet told that the runny nose sydrome was quite serious and when torts stop eating n drinking altogether, it must be very sick. Have hard time giving my torts antibiotic, hence found an idea whereby my tort will yawn widely if i pick it up when it's sleeping. Once its mouth open quickly will drip a few drops of antibiotic into its mouth. Giving my tort antibiotic was so heartache seeing the bubbles and liquid will flow out from its mouth everytime receiving antibiotic. Well.. after a week it's back to normal. Once it's start eating, everythg is OK.

Ahhh.. speaking of diet, is Opuntia Cacti really an ideal diet for tortoise? I'm not sure if it is really a high fibre diet or not.

Normally I'll feed mine with Sawi or the Exo Terra tortoise pellets. My stock of pellets is almost run out and I cant find any shops selling new Exo Terra Tortoise pellets. Existing shops only selling those which almost expire. Can anybody let me know any other ideal pellets and where to get them?

I also plan to feed the with Timothy Hays, is it a good idea?

Thanks ya all. icon_rolleyes.gif icon_rolleyes.gif

Hmm.. yep.. Opuntia Cacti indeed is an ideal diet.

Opuntia cacti - a plant typically rich in calcium with a very high Ca:P ratio, taken from http://www.tortoisetrust.org/articles/calcium.htm

Guess I've to search for this at nursery to plant it myself, haha. Difficult to grow?

RM50 for Star Tort? I think Pasar Pudu can get around RM60 - 70. You can always haggle for the price there.

Hmmm.. does anyone know the normal prices for Elongated Tortoise? Saw 2 of them last month nearby Brickfields. Size is around 3 inches and selling for RM350 each. Not sure this price is consider cheap or expensive. Planning to get new tortoises to accompany my 2 star tortoises. Still wishing can find Leopard Tortoise.

Awwwwe! Nice sulcata you've there. drool.gif

Looks very energetic and active.

Saw your photos and your torts eat Timothy Hays? They like it?

What substrate are you using now? Wood chip or forest bark? which one is better?
