QUOTE(SoFastSoFurious @ Sep 15 2006, 12:30 AM) my tortoises collection and tortoise home SFSF, beautiful tortoises you got there Livestock : 1 Radiated Pair, 1 Star pair (Egg Laying 8 inch female) and 1 Leopard. Home : 3ft x 2ft fiber tank Environment: Airwell (12 hours sunlight) Daily consumption : 1 Stalk of ChoySum per day Bedding : Corn kernels Lighting Bulb: 75W Sunglow (2ft distance) Diet Supplement: Azoo calcium Waterchange: Daily Dai86, if thats an Impressa then the price is pretty okay. Let me know if you wanna pass on. By the way, i just put an Impressed Tortoise to peace today in a petshop, they didnt even know it has stopped breathing. Am very sad myself when i held it up and find that its not moving anymore. Worst part, when i held it vertically to take it out, internal rotten juices flow out from its anal together with blood. The shop guy was so shocked...huh...they could've been better. Put it into a box and close up. I am still very sad Regards |

ekiddie, i dont know exactly what is that on your Razorback but i believe it is like what the others said, some sort of algae thing. Did you keep your water circulating ie a filter pump? Water cleanliness is the best key.
People, that Impressa is not mine and i have no idea what causes its death but as you know, they are the most difficult tortoise one can take care of. I believe it started with stress and later refuse to eat and during the transport from Cameron, it has developed illness. When it comes to shop, it didnt make it till the end. Thanks all for your kind words anyway Regards |

A simple question, do anyone here prefer Leopard Tortoise over Star Tortoise? It seems like less people are into Leopard Tortoise....why?

QUOTE(ekiddie @ Sep 16 2006, 08:34 PM) eujax... can i ask u why is ur razorbacks in different colors or one of em (de lighter color one) is not a razor but other species? ekiddie, btw, how old oledi u haf de razorbacks ar? Well i guess its like what Uzairi said, different bloodline. They are around 3 years old. It is a Razorback no doubt on that. Anyway did you manage to find your Stinkpot? I think they stink on me this morning when i cleaned them Regards This post has been edited by EuJax: Sep 16 2006, 10:10 PM |

Yes 'water fish' or 'sui yee' is one type of softshell. I like Florida Softshell...kicking myself for not getting it earlier when they are available in pet shops

QUOTE(funkychips @ Sep 16 2006, 10:26 PM) but one drawback tho, is that softshells can be quite susceptible to shell rot or ulcers because of their ...um....soft shells..! if you keep a softshell do make sure you have a good filter running in your tank and do regular water changes. keeping it in stagnant water without filter is likely to cause disease to the turtle. funkychips, You are absolutely right mike3300, congrats on your new turtle. Best of health to you and them Regards |

I dont recommend Impressed Tortoise for beginners though
Burmese Brown Tortoise is also local species but they get pretty huge and of course Elongate Tortoise as you mentioned...apart from that...cant think of any that is native to Malaysia. Regards |

QUOTE(kamekame8888 @ Sep 17 2006, 01:49 PM) Thank you to both of you...i would not dare to try the Impressa tortoise for sure. Elongate maybe...or some water based turtles...Stinkpot...even Razorback stinks? wow...susah laa ni...afterd my whole room stink! Kamekame,Kamekame. Well actually Razors dont stink like what Stinkpots do. Stinkpot have the ability to produce the smelly odour from the inner part of their limbs while Razor dont. As for beginner, i would say a water based turtle is easier to take care of, just make sure you have a good setup with filtration system. Try to get a Red Ear Slider maybe? Or even a Malayan Box Turtle is interesting Regards |

Uzairi, hows your Ally Snapping Turtle? I hope they are fine. Anyway that is water concern and sometimes its the shipment of the fish as well. How did you store your snapper? In an aquarium? They actually produce some acid over time so its best to change the water every week or the most two weeks..that is if you have the water running as in filtrating. Just my 2c.

QUOTE(dai86 @ Sep 17 2006, 08:48 AM) well, there is a stall in selayang mall (where i incharge) and our shop in mutiara jalan ipoh there. haha... our business are still new, so we are still developing it. we only have little basic thing like pets, food, and some cage as our product~ hehe... some here know where lah cause they went and see and eventually buy before dai86, i believe Chaco Tortoise is pretty rare here in Malaysia. In fact i've never seen it so far. Maybe you should try Red Footed or Pancake, pretty unique imho. Radiated is nice but thats some serious pricing we are talking bout. ooo... beside star tortoise, leopard tortoise, and sulcata, anyone own others type of tortoise? like red foot, yellow foot, chaco, pancakes... (except uzairi lah) hehe... ( i am looking for a chaco~~ Regards |

Uzairi, i think dai86 meant the 3 Stripe Musk Turtle not Keeled Box Turtle. Here is a picture to share
UPM, i havent seen that one before. Very beautiful tortoise but i wonder if its a cross breed. Havent come across the scientific name as well. Thanks for sharing. Where did you find that picture? Regards Attached thumbnail(s) |

I want another star star.... crazymouse, i am sure you will get your another Star Tortoise QUOTE(UPM_Parasite @ Sep 21 2006, 10:38 PM) Haha....... u reli need a another star le, ur manggo reli feel lonely. Its a good thing that you are independent, buddy. Keep it up and it will be rewarding in future PS: I never ask or tell my parent what i buy, what i do:hehe: ............. like this 2 star, i use my own money to buy it without telling my parent QUOTE(ekiddie @ Sep 21 2006, 11:01 PM) izzit really compulsory to have basking area for turtles ar?? i still don have any tho... my RES had been wif me for years and they never haf any basking area b4 but they are OK... now if my musk... de question is, do i really need it? or optional or to haf it, is a bonus kind of thing? ekiddie, it is pretty much a must for RES to have basking spots but not so much for your Razorback. They will not show illness now but sooner or later you will face the problem. Better put a rock or driftwood so they can dry themselves. Cheers.uzairi, ur snapper need a basking light too? Regards |
