I received the "official explanation" from the service center after getting MSI malaysia to force the service center to explain. ( customer service and msi are 2 different companies ).

First off, I'm happy MSI malaysia cared enough to push for an explanation and also offer their apologies for the issues.
Not very happy about the explanation from the service center because it's bull. They still did not admit anything.

I don't really care what the service center say anymore now.

------------------------
Official report ( paraphrased ):

Laptop problem ( audio/mic jack not working anymore ) suspected to have been caused during courier service back to customer during first report to repair speakers because we have done burn-in testing on-site before sending laptop back to customer.
------------------------

Very good, except...

1. I send in and collected the laptop in person when I made the 1st report.
2nd report I had to courier because I was outstation. - No problem yet after this 2nd report.
-> Nice joke but I was not in the mood to laugh.

2. Burn-in test does not detect connectivity problems on the peripheral interfaces on your laptop ( USB,audio, mike ) if you do not do physical testing because you need to plug in a physical device to test if there is any external data transfer between host and device. Easiest way to test is to just plug in something and check if it is detected or not.

I think the lesson here is to call customer service or contact MSI directly if you have very specific questions on warranty claims. Service center people will never have very good answers if it is too complicated. I think contacting MSI directly is better.

Test everything before you take back your laptop. Don't only test the thing you ask them to fix.

Report to MSI directly if you suspect they caused other issues after "repairing" your laptop with some reasons.

So far, MSI laptaps = quite ok.
msia customer service - maybe good maybe bad. The Penang branch guys are quite good and friendly. KJ branch, not so good.

Just to update to the "resolution" of this customer service nightmare I had a long time ago in the last thread.

1.I brought in my unit as promised and it was "fixed".

2.Checked the speakers and was happy.

3.Flew back to Penang.

4. Over the weekend I decided to use my headphones again after enjoying the speakers for a few days. I only use headphones recently because the speakers sound bad.

5. Headphones and mic jack doesn't work anymore.

6. Complain the the center messed up my laptop audio/mic jacks and forced to send in laptop again for 1 week.

7. I requested for the service report to state that the latest report is made because they did a bad job on the first report and caused this issue. They tried to make it look like the laptop so ngam ngam have 2 problems in 2 weeks in the 2nd service report. Genius.

8. Also requested they find who is responsible and ask to issue an apology. -- Nobody wants to take any blame.

9. Waiting for response now --> I think they will just ignore.
Quite fed up of this nonsense already.
They even have to force me to personally ask for an apology when it is obviously their fault. First time I heard of this.Don't even want to say "sorry lah".

Probably will need to ask around if Asus or Lenovo has better CS before buying new laptop when the next GPU refresh comes out.

Is that means MSI Malaysia outsource the service/repair to other computer/laptop repair center? First time I know both are from 2 different companies.

You make me scared, as currently I stay around KJ, anything happen to my laptop, siaplah saya sweat.gif

Anyway, hope you can get your laptop repaired soon. smile.gif

BIOS update is quite dangerous for people not familiar with computers. I wouldn't recommend it if its not necessary. Bios changes your basic software to run everything in your computer. Even without windows, your computer will run on BIOS. Normally if BIOS installation goes wrong, you cant even on the computer.

Thats why its recommended to backup your whole hard disc before updating BIOS.

True, but I updated on my own using official MSI BIOS, not the vBIOS version. And follow the procedure also, nothing strange happen.

Actually, when you update from the windows store one is very safe, but you better make recovery disc. BCS last time I was about to make recovery disc, then suddenly I couldnt find it bcs the partition has gone during upgrade. mad.gif

End up using own 8.1 pro genuine.

I was told to use the numbers in the official website under asia/oceania -> malaysia if I want to contact them directly.
http://my.msi.com/about/contact-us

The number listed here is the service center hotline (different company).

Bought my GP60 a week ago, just curious if there is any battery charge limiting framework available for this machine to prolong the lifespan of the battery.

My old Lenovo had a battery conservation mode which I find very handy for that.

Total of 2 years warranty (being first year international warranty) for local MY set.

Local MY set should comes with a MY warranty sticker on the notebook, you may check from the Serial Number if it belongs to local MY set.

Please take note there will be RM200 handling charges for non-local set.

Q4 2014 Bundles

Nowadays, when you buy a gaming notebook from MSI, chances are you’ll end up with a little something on the side, apart from the notebook and the usual accessories. The tricky bit is that what extras you get vary quite wildly from region to region, making it close to impossible to summarize what’s bundled where, and for you as an end-user, even harder to know what you’re getting.

Recognizing this little dilemma, we decided to take a look at a selection of things you will find bundled in a little video presentation of the Q4 2014 bundles, including plushies, mouse pads and backpacks. The video is found on Youtube:

Ya, it's local set. So it means two years of parts and labours as long as I am in Malaysia rite?

Ok... I have experimented my laptop for 2 weeks, and I would like to conclude that:
MSI GE60 2PE... Not recommended. The cooling system is very bad, causing constant CPU and GPU throttling.
Even Notebookcheck review also shows GPU throttling.

Hey ZRong,

I've got a few friends who are using the GE60 (even one college student who games overnight every weekend, Lols!)
and no issue of CPU or GPU throttling wohh. At what point did the bottleneck happen?

Btw, are you referring to this article by Notebookcheck? They reviewed the GE60 with Nvidia 860M GPU and some of the comments also stated that Furmark isn't a recommended stress tester as Nvidia throttles their cards when they detect that program running. Seems it's to protect the card from the 'extreme electrical currents' generated from the Furmark test.
http://www.notebookcheck.net/MSI-GE60-2PEi...w.117056.0.html

Anyways, hope you can share your experience on this as there are sifus here to help.

Good luck and all the best with your gaming! biggrin.gif biggrin.gif
