^ actually the price for sia is abit cheaper than mas, problem is sia's connecting flights all $uck and the transit times are usually a lot longer than mas'. but well, depends on what u value more, service+comfort i'd take sia, but for convenience i'll take mas anyday tongue.gif

well the price i'm talking about includes fuel surcharges and tax. if you dont include those in, then yes SQ's cheaper

ps: from my experience. cant say about the rest wink.gif

@Sesshoumaru: *glomps* Lol... sorry i misunderstood. No wonder I got stumped when you said quilts. XD o.0 omg.. 200 aud is like RM600!!! o.0 Are blankets any cheaper than that?

Enrich members DO NOT get extra limit. they only get frequent flyer points. and you need to get STUDENT ticket. if you buy flight tickets at say travel fairs, i doubt they give you the extra 10kgs.

in my experience, the best time to buy blankets or quilts is actually right now when its summer. when winter hits, prices are jacked up a bit

^^ Thanks for clearing that up, QuackSilver.

Apart from that, I would like to know if I should get my sneakers here or there? Different sources have given me two different answers. They say that Reeboks or Nike are cheaper there or something.

Next, referring to Perth's weather, how cold can it get? Do I need to bring trench coats or heavy jackets? I already have them with me so the question is whether to bring them or not.

Besides that, are shorts or pants used more there? Since I have limited packing space. x.x

oh yea, you'd be best answering MildBluese's queries on Perth as you're studying there wink.gif

Perth is not that cold, infact not even the Melbourne-ians and Sydney-ians need a trench coat/thick jacket. Leave that for places like Russia/Alaska.

You might wanna wear multiple layers instead. For me, yeah it's cold outside but the moment I step in a campus building it is a different story altogether. I'd say a good setup would be just your shirt + windbreaker.

Eh just bring a few shorts will do (sexy ones? =P) for house wearing. You do not want to go out in winter with shorts xD. Jeans/Long pants is a standard wear for those going out.

Sneakers, went to a Nike F.Outlet, prices is roughly the same IMO can't be certain. If you have a good pair from Malaysia, bring it. Perhaps ckwei can answer you better.

Assuming you live close to uni....
1 - Try Big W, KMart (Westfield EastGardens), Target, Retravision (Kingsford), Harvey Norman (Supacenta).
2 - Asian mini stores down in Kingsford. They sell everything like buckets, mops, hangers, etc.
3 - IGA Kingsford (convenient, but less choice and more expensive), Coles Randwick, Coles Maroubra, Coles/Woolworths Eastgardens. For Asian foodstuffs, check store below Harvard court, Randwick Oriental along Anzac Pde and Randwick Junction.
4 - Kingsford Newsagent or stores below Cambridge/Harvard court
5 - See 3.

There was once I went over the limit (returning to Melb)....... then so nice of that person at the counter in KLIA, he upgraded my economy ticket to business class biggrin.gif ....... and after flying in business, gawd, if only I'm that rich to afford everytime tongue.gif ........

Anyway, I would suggest you to get a duck feather quilt as your blanket, its worth it, for me, don't need any extra blanket anymore with that just one quilt..... and cause its a quilt, don't need to fold each time you wake up, just strech it out across your bed and its done tongue.gif .......

To reduce heating cost in house, I suggest that you get a wool (or similiar material) jacket, wool jacket stays warm all the time unlike windbreakers.......

and actually, I do wear a trenchcoat in Melbourne tongue.gif ...... winter in Melbourne could dip down to 3-4 degrees celcius :S ....... COLD COLD day like this

hey, where do you study?

RMIT

As far as Melbourne weather goes, it'll be hot right now, but it'll be more comfortable by mid-March. For going out, a light hooded jacket is usually a good choice. I don't like umbrellas, cause even when it rains, its only for 5 mins, for which I don't really need an umbrella.

That said, I do like the cold, and have almost never used the heating in my 3+ years there.

Eek... I'm going to board the plane in three hours. x.x My anxiety, excitement and sadness are all merged together at this moment. Add lack of sleep to that and you'll get a weird MildBluese.

Anyone else going to Perth today or soon?
