hmm....want to ask those already in OZ land, do u do part time jobs there to earn pocket money for living expenses? coz my dad says lots of students support their living expenses all by themself and ask me to do that too perhaps in 2nd year...pls enlighten me on how to apply work visa, eg of jobs we can do...thx a lot.

i wanted to go UQ too, but i didnt get selected for their scholarship. i was offered scholarship by Tuart College Perth and Eynesbury Internation Adelaide. i took Eynesbury instead.

hmmm, are there any students here working in aussie while studying? im thinking of working at food shops like sushi-ya's, since i know japanese (not that much though, just able to read hira/katakana and some basic conversations) so im hoping it would be a plus. thats not the main concern, but how much is the pay for us students? people have been telling me, due to the heavy protection from the Union, pay ranges from AUD10-15 per hour. My dad said its all standardized at around AUD10 per hour. Really? If thats so, i work full time during hols or weekends for like, say, 10 hours, I would have already earned AUD100. If thats true, that would already help cover half of my projected weekly living cost. Im putting around AUD220-250 weekly, or less maybe. I still have to check on my accommodation. Bradford Lodge is already full, now I'm waiting for an answer from Highgate Lodge. Homestay is last on the list since i wanna learn to be independent and interact with others.

I'm going to Melbourne next month(Trinity College Foundation Studies).

anything else u guys wanna noe bout living in aussie, plz feel freee 2 ask la...  oh yea...students workin is normal la...whu dun like extra cash...n since the pay here is way better than msia...y not??....n visa is simple stuff....apply online like how u purchase stuffs off ebay (coz u need 2 pay by creditcard...& dun worry they got all ur details in their database)...or fill in a form,get it stamped by uni, make an appointment with the immi office n be there 5 mins b4 time....no need  2 experience the bloody waits like how we all did for our mykad....

yeapz agreed...when u r more settled....u will usually use 3g (the company name is like dat.....dun ask me y)....coz it has the best deal for money....however the service quite sucky compared 2  other service provider...ie...credit balance checking, "prompt-ness" of its sms / voicemail is very doubtful.....

erm.....bank account ar...use the daily account....diferent bank got different names 4 dat...my advice....use comm bank.....best!!!....most ATM around....very common....the australian post office is their authorized service partner oso...which means u can oso deal ur stuffs in post office...if u use comm bank...for tertiary students,....banking is free...no fees.....juz need 2 prove to them u r a student every year n dats it!!

No frigin way lol ... confirm no .. i juz did my working visa .. erm i also forget la .. asalkan if u wanna apply anything in australia ( bank account, age proff card, working visa ) u need 'points' it depends lor .. passport gives you 20 points or so .. uni offer letter also important .. keep it .. around 10 points ? Around there la .. asalkan to do any documentation .. you need at least 2 or 3 documents la .. i recommend you getting the 18age proof card ( now called photo card ) as well ... it's a good replacement for your passport so u dun hav to carry it all over the place ...IINM it gives the same ammount of points as your passport too .. i think 50bux for 5 years ... for the photo card .. go get it

oh and btw ANZ sucks lol ... limited ATM .. Commonwealth bank best la .. everywhere you can get ATM .. n best of all .. there is a branch in the uni's upper campus go get your account there .. got a lady (forgot her name) from malaysia Super frenly ... from ipoh 1 haha .. u go in straight can see 1 la .. 'malaysian face' lol .. she very 'jiu gu' all the malaysians 1 dun wry .. go find her haha

edit: whoops the bank part applies for sydney only ok and the msian lady is working in UNSW's commonwealth branch .. and for more information on the point system i think you can check www.rta.gov.au ... not sure about the website la .. google 'rta australia'
