Ryzen has risen but I still need to wait, since the cheapest high-end CPU starts at RM1599. cry.gif

Sadly for now they launch Ryzen 7 only, so I would likely go 1700 or 1700X, depends on how well 1700 could overclock, waiting real world test now.
If they launch Ryzen 5 ( 6 cores ) now also, I would just get the highest price Ryzen 5 then.

QUOTE(AMDAthlon @ Feb 23 2017, 12:25 PM)
Chill. That's the 8 core part. I'm waiting for the 6 core parts..
But then the price here could be different compared to mrsp like what happened to RX480 doh.gif

Hopefully not too far apart.

R7 1700X is available to pre-order at RM1899 now.

Honestly I'm very tempted to buy it right away.
but there is no mobo out yet.

Should I pre-order it right away due to limited stock
or should wait for some review first?

AMD Ryzen ™ 7 1700 + Wraith Spire 95W Cooler = RM1599

Don't know if i should go for 7700k compare to 1700x for gaming. 7700k is much faster per core.

Mainboard price is similar for both platform.

I think if pure gaming, 7700K will win, since Ryzen single core performance are on Broadwell level. I still aim Ryzen because it has more core count, which will be useful for photo processing, and hopes more and more games will be optimize for more than quad core.

Sry i meant 1700 but yeah, gaming is my priority so i think Kabylake strong core performance will benefit more unless many games will start scaling over 8 cores.

I know, but last time we have the cheapest highest end at RM999. Sad. I thought when I start to work, this things becomes more approachable, but now seems like it's getting further and further away. T.T

Yeah, definitely they need to show their best for the mainstream first. They said they're returning to compete Intel at the top of the crop level, it would not make such a bang to see the Ryzen 3 series beat Core i3 with 10% more performance at 30% lower price. Hehe. I'm really eager too to see what they bring to the table this time, planning for an AMD system this year. smile.gif

I think AMD cant wait to show what they have, the best of their best. Hence 1800X must available now.
I want to see how Intel react as well, likely forced to drop price, so winner will be us rclxm9.gif

if your rig is mostly for gaming just hold on for now, wait until the developers fully utilize the DX12 .

no need 64 zillion cores if the games are coded to use 1 or 2 cpu core only.

Guess I found my answer biggrin.gif

Ryzen 7 1700 ( not X ) could OCed to 4GHz using super expensive board Crosshair VI Hero, with water cooling. Should be no issue hit 3.7GHz with mainstream X370 board then rclxm9.gif
http://wccftech.com/amd-ryzen-7-1700-overclocked-4ghz/

Also, it seems single core performance could be on Kabylake level rclxms.gif

still thinking should i wait for their ryzen 5 1500 priced at rm1017 (usd229), or just get kaby lake i5 7500 priced at rm920. kaby lake 7500 has higher base clock but lower core / threads compared to ryzen 5 1500. just purely for gaming.

At least wait untill official review of Ryzen 7 then decide.
If purely for gaming maybe then kaby lake is enough for you. But it seems that upcoming games might utilise more cores.

thanks for the input but ryzen 7 is way out of my budget, even their lowest 1700.

Ya I know. Me too tongue.gif. But at least from Ryzen 7 official benchmark, we can see how it perform in games compared to skylake. If the R7 performance difference compared to skylake, then you can decide since R5 is just the lower part of the SKUs.
