Usually no. most likely you have a faulty pair, what iem is that?

Actually it's the kc06a, maybe I was over-exaggerating a little, it isn't really that bad.. well it did improve a little after 7 hours of playing music but I'm not certain. After a few days I'll see then. After all there's warranty biggrin.gif

It sounds pretty sibilant out of the box, but not as KC06.

Actually it's also depends on the source and amp you have. To me, both KC06 and KC06A sound quite horrify on my Xiaomi 3. The sound is very empty, loose and lack of bass. Play it on at least a DAC cum amp like E07K or DAP like Fiio X1 would be a totally different story.

Mind to tell me your current set up?

in that case, probably can consider getting a DAP or DAC cum amp. The outcome can be day and night.
Not necessarily expensive one, at least a headfi level gadget would be helpful smile.gif

No matter which IEMs or headphones that you are using, source determine the quality of sound signal that you feed the amp and headphones. Amp wise is to decorate timbre and amplify the sound.
Generally anything with headphone out has a headphone amp. Amp that is not up to audio level such as the build in amp of phone or computer, will give you bad sound quality as well.

Would the sansa clip+ or clip zip suffice? Pretty personal but I'm looking at it for my next purchase and if it doesn't really make that much of a difference in sound quality maybe I would reconsider my options... for something.. more poisonous brows.gif

They both sound radically different, and IMO the more fun to listen to is the IM50, while the XBA is more humble in every way. Yes the IM50 takes a little getting used to putting on, but it wasn't the worst I've ever owned. The worst would be the Radius HP-TWF11. tongue.gif

My ear bowl is pretty large and open to the point where an earbud will never ever be able to hang off my ear, so the IM50 though not the best fitting IEM does stay on pretty good after I've learned how to put them on. Plus the stiff cable section that lets you shape the cable to your ear helped a lot.

I almost forgot, there's also Beyerdynamic XP series. There's clear, balanced, and bass (XP3,2, and 1 respectively). Pretty good sound quality whichever you choose.
*
I read a thread about Beyerdynamic XP, and almost made the purchase on XP 2 until I read the very last few pages about the earphones dying out after a year or two, sometimes even less.

I know it's subjective, but do you think it'd be more worth the buy if I purchase AT IM50 instead, considering that it's slightly pricier?

Yes actually I have read quite a lot of complaints about the durability. Despite having a metal body they're quite fragile. Considering their price and sound I believe some things were compromised. These may need a bit more care than what one would like for an entry IEM from a big brand name.

The IM50 certainly feels solid even though it's plastic, and the cables are replaceable but even so still looks and feels like they can take a beating (though I would reserve the 'toughness' for when accidents occur, and not make abuse a regular thing). I believe the higher price is totally justified.

I'm not sure if the demo sets I've been listening to are faulty or not (all of them sound the same), but the Beyer XP series sound like garbage. If that's how they actually sound I think its a sin to keep recommending the XP series to people. I had a VSonic VSD3S and they sound a lot better.

**edit
Sorry VagueConcerns , didn't mean to attack your suggestion there, I just think the XP Series sound really bad, and my girlfriend says the same thing. All three of the models, XP1, 2, 3, they all sound bad. and people shouldn't spend anywhere over RM50 for that kind of sound.

I personally think the XP series have serious issues on durability, not to say the subpar sound quality (I demoed in an Apple store, don't think they are faulty) They are pretty hyped for nothing.

I have forgotten to mention the Blox BE3 is good too sweat.gif
I agree the Yuin is pretty colored, but I believe its strongly tuned for the consumers. wink.gif I didn't mean it has to be delivering reference sound tongue.gif

You can get it from BLOX (it's showing as available on my side though, else feel free to drop them an email)
http://bloxearphone.com/purchase.htm

Or you can get it from screwedpeep's bulk too, especially if you do not have Paypal. smile.gif

I'm not too sure about the Baldoor - But I know subwoof3r from Head-fi has both the BLOX BE3 and Baldoor, and rated the BE3 over the Baldoor (even bought 3 pairs of BE3 now).

With that alone, I do not think I will bother with the Baldoor. laugh.gif
