i've gotten the chance to listen to the IM50 and IM70, the IM50 I felt is geared towards bassheads. There's quite a bit of bass to a point I feel uncomfortable with just slightly but will be the love of anyone who loves listening to techno. The bass extends really deep and it's nice but just not to my taste. The IM70 on the other hand is more lighter on the bass, its nice and tight but vanilla wise I think it need's just a teensy weensy bit more bass extension since it already has a nice kick.

Clarity wise I enjoy the IM70 more. I'd suggest you try it at E1's place at Sungai Wang, i'm just piecing together what my memory can pull out haha.

More than three weeks ago I purchased a what seemed to be a reasonably priced pair of earphones (Sony MDREX310SL) on Lazada. They priced it at around RM230, which I could accept. Further, it would come included with a carrying pouch, a few different sized earbuds, as well as noise-isolation earbuds. I've never had earphones with changeable earbuds or noise-isolation ones, so I was quite happy.

Three weeks went past, not a single update from Lazada. I contacted them, only to be notified via email that they have cancelled the order due to dubious processing time promised by the seller.

Now I'm left with my clunky Sony XB-400 Super Bass headphones. It definitely serves its purpose, but I feel that carrying it around is a hassle, I prefer earphones which are much more portable. I also want to make my purchase online, but I can't seem to find a reliable shop which sells Sony products.

I need your help, and welcome your suggestions, if you think there are better earphones in the price range which are not necessarily branded Sony.

Thanks.

There's Jaben Audio:
http://jaben.com.my/shopping2/home.php

yuheng and walabies are the 2 I know represent the store, and I've dealt with them more than once. They're fast and reliable with pretty good warranty service.

Then there's E1-AKG which also has an online store. Then there's jjjkj from whom I bought a Shure SE215-SPE. IIRC I bought an Audio Technica IM50 from him as well, and at a surprisingly more affordable price. Fairly competent in presenting detail, but the treble wasn't my most favourite trait of that IEM. It wasn't that it was piercing but it's a bit too shy.

It certainly won't reach Sony XB level bass on its own, but with good EQ it's fairly capable of much more bass. Excellent choice for the money. Between it and the EX310-SL, I'd go with either, but the IM50 isn't the most comfortable or easiest to put on. It's actually pretty big its small drivers. However the IM50 does have removable cable so they can theoretically last pretty much forever.

I'm owner of EX300, while EX310 is very similar with EX300, I think you should try XiaoMi earphone first.
Sony earphone don't have a good value at its price.

Your statement is misleading, it's not all the IEM.
Here's a list of Sony IEM i find its good for its price.
- MDR-EX600
- MDR-EX800ST aka MDR7550 drool.gif
- MDR-EX1000
- MH1C brows.gif

Not sure about the XBA-H series and the newer A series.

Heard these are great but I never try them before. But all of these are beyond his budget @@"
XBA series seems like great for higher end product also, based on internet review.

Yesterday received my Fidelio S2 and I think will stick with this for a long time ^.^

Enjoy your S2 smile.gif
Honestly i find the XBA series are quite subpar especially for their price counterpart, however they do, perform at their own best. biggrin.gif

I checked out Jaben Audio, but they stock expensive ones, which are clearly out of my meager cry.gif budget. But I think I can push beyond RM250, less than RM300, to be precise.

Now that you've mentioned Audio Technica IM50, I'm torn between the two ( but still considering XBA-1, unsure of the price ), but the problem is, while I've found sellers for AT IM50, I haven't found any for a discontinued Sony product. Any thoughts?

Thanks for your recommendation by the way, I learned a lot. Bear in mind I know next to nothing about earphones, in fact, I only learned what IEM was a day ago when you guys mentioned it... sweat.gif

Why do you say so? I learn towards Sony simply because I've bought Sony products and they've lasted for a long time. I haven't heard of XiaoMi, it seems like it's pretty easy to buy a fake XiaoMi Piston if you're not careful. Thoughts?

I don't know where to look for discontinued products unfortunately. Which discontinued product are you looking for? If it's the XBA-1, there's actually the replacement XBA-10, at RM199.

That's odd, XBA-30 is still in production but not XBA-20, at least not the non-mic version.

I was referring to the EX310.

XBA-10 seems very reasonable, but I think a step-up to AT-IM50 would be better, no? What do you think? The only concern I have with AT-IM50 would be comfort, as reviews mostly point out the large earbud sizes.

They both sound radically different, and IMO the more fun to listen to is the IM50, while the XBA is more humble in every way. Yes the IM50 takes a little getting used to putting on, but it wasn't the worst I've ever owned. The worst would be the Radius HP-TWF11. tongue.gif

My ear bowl is pretty large and open to the point where an earbud will never ever be able to hang off my ear, so the IM50 though not the best fitting IEM does stay on pretty good after I've learned how to put them on. Plus the stiff cable section that lets you shape the cable to your ear helped a lot.

I almost forgot, there's also Beyerdynamic XP series. There's clear, balanced, and bass (XP3,2, and 1 respectively). Pretty good sound quality whichever you choose.

For price and value, EX310 is not a good one.
For earphone durability, I haven't meet a spoil one, maybe I'm a careful and low volume user.
For XiaoMi earphone, just buy them from official website, quite easy to get them because the real hot is battery.
*I got 2 pair of XiaoMi earphone, LOL.

I own Havi B3 and I just received KC06A. So can't really give fair comparison. But I can comment on Havi, for me its the best iem for budget of RM200 range. The soundstage is just on another level. It may not lean towards bass but you somehow can still feel the bass (though I have to up the bass bit on my DAP). It just stress on good sound quality. The sound production is just natural not colored. I think it is also good for monitoring records.

KC06A does sounds good now... but still very new let me give it times to burn

Plan to use it for music and gaming. Please help. My friend recommended me the Jaybird Sportsband.

Hi, I'm thinking of getting the Xiaomi piston but I heard that there are a lot of fakes being sold.

Can somebody link me an original xiaomi piston with the best price?

Also, how's the sound quality? Any other good earphones around the same price?

Thanks.
