I am very pleased with my musical chair activities this week.
Winner - SCB and UOB Loser - CIMB, Ambank, OCBC
I really like UOB nowadays due to ease of placement and upliftment (can settle under 10 minutes) as there will be no queue, and just need to deal with one staff.

How is ur experience with SCB ? I personally don't like their FD placement process flow. Just like opening new accounts for every FD placement. SCB has too many documentation and restriction, but sigh what to do, 4.25% is attractive at the moment. Most of my funds came from CIMB and Ambank low rates, so almost 1% jump.

QUOTE(gchowyh @ Oct 16 2014, 06:36 PM) Alliance Bank never had FD promos for a long long time, so quite unlikely to go for their cards. Now hopefully no surprises for the Maybank under table 4% promo on Monday 20 Oct. I will also try showing my CIMB cheque book but what if we transfer the funds into Maybank account, will it still be considered fresh funds for Maybank? Bro, click here to my FIXED DEPOSIT Page at my blog and see Alliance Bank FD Promos. This post has been edited by Gen-X: Oct 19 2014, 09:14 AM

6 months - 3.7% 12 months - 3.85%
min. 1k deposit
not the best rate but if you like hassle free experience it is good, can just place online without walking out from your office / home. Although T&C mention fresh fund but i've checked my online acc you can just place the FD from your saving acc which is impossible for them to define the fund is fresh or not.

nomen and royalz, like I promised earlier, I will show you guys how to earn extra couple thousand Ringgit in 3 months by depositing with a particular bank versus all the 3 months FD posted in Post#1 and 2. However, I miscalculated earlier when I mentioned that one only needed RM300K to earn more RM2K in interest. I only work out the effective rate while writing the article and to earn extra RM2K, need RM1M! hahahaha And this latest article of mine is dedicated to MGM, bbgoat and kinabalu for their effort in assisting me to earn extra pocket money. I also extended invitation to all FD Fans to come join this thread and make it more exciting plus longer too, hahaha. The article was written with the intention to benefit those who are new to Fixed Deposit Promotions AND at the same time to benefit serious FD Fans where I shared discrete FD Promos to earn you guys extra pocket money. Without further ado, clcik here to start reading my article titled Get More FREE Money With The Right Fixed Deposit Promotions.

Read on your post that for conventional FD (i assume board rate) , for deposit over RM1M for particular bank will automatically go classify as tier 2 (lower interest rate) ? May I know more details on how does this work? Also for board rate, with OPR increase, example if placed affin earlier at 3.6% for 12months, does it mean will follow the earlier board rate, or revised board rate? Thank you

QUOTE(Pisang_Dy88 @ Oct 16 2014, 12:04 AM) To all sifus, I want to get some opinions from you guys. Currently my credit card debt approx 15k, and I dont have any FD with me. But I have my EPF acc 2 that able to settle up my CC and I plan to withdraw all and balance put in FD.(because can withdraw one time only,if i sell away my first house then different story) Any suggestion that I can get from you guys? You have to go to KWSP website and read about Jenis-jenis pengeluaran first before deciding on your plan A above. I can suggest you an interesting plan B if you qualify for it. There is a 12 months 0% balance transfer (BT) promotion by Maybank card now (ending 8th March 2015). Go apply any Maybank card and BT the RM15k to your MBB card and pay off the RM15k in 12 interest free instalments. Maybank card 12 month 0% BTFor those who have high Maybank card credit line and high cc spender, you can BT all your non-MBB cc combine monthly statement balances then put the money back to Maybank's "undercounter" FD and enjoy the absolutely free upfront interest (of course must meet minimum FD deposit requirement). BTW, you can apply as many times as you like but subject to 90% of your MBB card credit limit and 8th March 2015 dateline. MBB 0% BT application form.

QUOTE(kimmo88 @ Oct 16 2014, 05:37 PM) It seems there is an option to 'withdraw' your FD using UOB online banking. No need to walk-in to branch. Convenient but may not be safe if your account gets hacked ! As far as I knew, you only can withdraw online if the FD is placed via online in the first place. You can't withdraw online if the FD is placed over the counter. Also online transaction limit to third party (GIRO) is set at Rm10k/20K limit by default.

Usually online eFD , I placed from my MBB saving account as the funds came in, in 5k batches. As usually it is on board rate (low rate) , I would accumulate it until 50k before reassigning it to whatever promo is available. Since it is my primary account, ibg has no role in it. I would transfer it to my current account (no limit between same name / bank account) before writing a check for Fd placement.

I scattered my FD to multiple small FD, ie:
1,000 for 1 month 1,000 for 3 months 3,000 for 6 months
For the purpose of ease of withdrawing during emergency. It has now grown to extent it is all over the place. Would you guys take it out and move it to another for the hassle or let it be?
Ie, if a bank offers better rate, when the rate expired, did you guys take out the fund and move to another bank?
I find it a little too troublesome lol
