QUOTE(Quazacolt @ Apr 3 2015, 12:12 PM) It is discontinued, the new product code is AZO, new signature series line. Thanks. I've bought stuff online from Zhapalang before. They arrived good. For oil I might just go to Kepong straight to their shop. Can consider visiting Zhapalang at Kepong to purchase. zendengoh |

Hope anyone can help me on this.
i bought amsoil signature series 5w30, then i go to another workshop to change the oil get the filter. At my sticker the mechanic write my next oil change is +5000 only which i think its a lot of bull because last time i change with their eneos synthetic oil they write +10000 interval. and im pretty sure with this oil it could go up to at least 12000 or 15000 Could anyone confirm with me the service interval usign the amsoil signature series 5w30? |

QUOTE(silentser @ Apr 7 2015, 11:19 AM) yeah saw the label that why want to confirm with knowledgeable person here , i definitely didn't dare to go 40k km la, inspira only did 10k km.or should i just keep it be around 20k km only? what i worry about here is the oil filter thank you for your reply personally, oil filter also won't last that long, so can change oil filter only (and top up loss oil from oil filter) during half way interval. atm sentra is experimenting on 16k km / 1 year OCI, which i have full confidence on it as i've done 12-14k km oci on "lesser" EO before. do look up information on first page, look at my amsoil signature series UOA report, and look up what is TBN and then compare with the TBN rating/data sheet on competitor products depending on your car condition, you can try 20k km or 1 year (please be mindful of the 1 year mark ya, it's whichever first so no matter what, just change your oil when 1 year reach even if you didn't drive 20k km) and change oil filter only during 10k km mark 1 time oil (one time top up for oil filter, assuming your car have no leaks), and 2 oil filters/drain plug washer or gasket depending on your mechanic/car. |

QuazacoltWhat's your opinion on using mineral for new engine, only switching to fully syn after certain mileage?
QUOTE(icyd @ Mar 26 2015, 10:16 AM) i'll appreciate opinions on my situation here. my car has 176k km on the clock. it's a 1.8T audi engine with k03 turbo (not Tsi). been using LM semi 10w30 but last service i changed to pennzoil fully 5w40.i dont drive much these days but i notice after 3-4 days the car sitting still, theres a lot of smoke from the exhaust upon startup and lasts about 20-30 secs.is it a bad sign or has it anything to do with switching the oil? I hope yours is not the one listed here: Check out engine number 2disregarding the smoke issue, i've been contemplating to switching again to 5w30 full syn.maybe mobil 1.thought lower viscosity will be better since i almost never rev past 3k rpm If so, might want to check if your engine has sludge problem already. About the smoke, does it disappear after exiting the exhaust? If yes, it is water vapor. Else, then it is really smoke and you need to send the car for inspection. According to the link above, this car needs fully syn EO, especially one that offers high temp stability. |

QUOTE(alexei @ Apr 8 2015, 01:32 PM) QuazacoltWhat's your opinion on using mineral for new engine, only switching to fully syn after certain mileage? in today's engine oil technologies, pointless.straight maximum protection maximum lubricity accordingly to manufacturer's recommendation/specification. aka straight full synthetic. i did the same with my iswara 4g15 after it overhauled, and the same for my inspira when i gotten it new. |

hi all, i'm driving a 2003 proton iswara 1.3(did overhaul in year 2014), all the while i'm using shell helix hx-5 15w40. the recent 2 times i went to service my car the mechanic recommended me to use Vitech 15W40 SM/CF 4, i only look at the grade and didn't bother about the brand.
based on the website, the description of the engine oil is written as below: VITECH 15W40 SM/CF-4 is synthetic engine oil with MAS FORMULA is the premium Fully Synthetic engine oil with MAS ( Metal Treatment, Additives and Synthetic). Manufactured to meet requirement of all modern multi valves. i'm going to change engine oil in next week, just wanted to know is this engine oil really suitable for my car? else i will look for some other brand or maybe some sifu can recommend me some suitable engine oil for my car. so far it's smooth to drive, fuel consumption is normal as before, no engine oil leaking(check engine oil level every 1.5k km, it's always enough) hope some sifu can reply my query. thanks! |

Since you have the time and money good for you lor.so who is caring about what brand of engine oil since my car is not a super sport car ! For me I'd rather use good oil to ensure engine longevity and longer OCIs. I don't have time to change oil every month and rather do it every 3-6 months based on the oil OCI. Why waste time doing oil changes when you can be out there making money/enjoying things. This post has been edited by izso: Apr 16 2015, 11:11 AM |

Why waste time doing oil changes when you can be out there making money/enjoying things. more so when it gets tough maintaining 4 cars in the family, and they (mom/sis) would rather not have downtime on their vehicles as well. also, labor rate isn't getting any cheaper, along with gst, and also environmental concerns, why not make use of lubricant advancements and have longer oci when the end protection is the same? end game= cheaper, better protection/performance, save environment, save time. |
