It is discontinued,  the new product code is AZO,  new signature series line.

Can consider visiting Zhapalang at Kepong to purchase. zendengoh

Thanks. I've bought stuff online from Zhapalang before. They arrived good. For oil I might just go to Kepong straight to their shop.

oh my bad just remembered.

i've test driven a scooby lineartronic (legacy 2.5 turbo)
really really fun stuff, takes all the boring away from a D segment car.

no surprise really, the WORLD is moving towards lower viscosity, by hook or by crook.
read up the evo x manual, they recommend xw30 too smile.gif

while the non turbos are in the xw20 already.

myvi owner manual recommends xw20 too btw, while proton campros on xw30.
so ultimately, it is just people's mentality here imho.

German manufactures are still using 5W40. They seem intent to have HTHS > 3.5.

Volvo is using turbo charging, direct injection and timing chain in their current S60. They recommend 5W30 or 0W30. So do Ford with their Ecoboost.

But why MB, BMW, VW are so resistant to HTHS < 3.5?

This is old news, not sure if you've seen it before.

Petronas introduces 0W-20 oil for IVECO. LINKLink

IVECO makes trucks. One of their engines is 4.5 L 4-cylinder. 210 HP & 750 Nm. That is more powerful than the majority of passenger vehicles. Yet they specify 0W-20.

Point is, if your car recommends xW-20, you can safely use it.

nope, only waste more money on fuel.

just look up my fuelly/youtube.

Why using thinner viscosity uses more fuel? Because you tend to rev more because the engine is more willing to rev?

Someone with an Inspira asked my opinion on his intention to use 0W-20. I told him it's fine as Lancer is cleared by Mitsubishi to use 0W-20. Inspira is the same as Lancer as far as engine goes. I pointed him to this thread and specifically to your UOA. He was satisfied and plans to change to 0W-20 in his next OCI.

if you don't want to spend so much, can  try amsoil XL as well, which allows ~10k miles (or 16k km) or 6 months whichever first.
example: https://www.amsoil.com/shop/by-product/moto...ront%2Fxlm.aspx
and that is API SN certified:
https://engineoil.api.org/Directory/EolcsRe...nyName%3Damsoil

signature series is too heavily loaded on additives/detergent hence it can't pass API certification, however that's why they can boast 25k miles oil change interval (OCI) or 1 year whichever first.
considering you're clocking mileage much faster than regular motorists, signature series is still a very good choice despite being more expensive than XL as you'll probably be changing oil every 8 months? (assuming 5k km/month, 25000 miles = 40k km)
that would still beat XL or almost every other oils on the market.

if you want to be even safer, consider changing your oil filter every 10, or 20k km (2 or 4 filters basically up till the 40k km for a full drain/oil replacement) and top up any loss oil through engine combustion/oil filter replacement.

1 gallon of Amsoil AZO 0W30 is RM220. For me, I just change it every 10,000 km, including the oil filter. Driving Preve CFE

Your information likely to be wrong because a 5W40 made from Group IV can no way be called "premium". Group IV is lousy base oil so the 5W40 must also be lousy. It's so bad that I am pretty sure your car manufacturers will void your warranty if you use them.

That's assuming you are right about it using Group IV base oil

How is Group IV oil bad?

I reckon they are OK if you are using that for making 15W40 oil but not if it's a 5W40. The range is too wide.

Group IV is PAO. Mobil 1 0W-40 is PAO. PAO are better than Group II & Group III. GTL Group III is almost as good as PAO.

PAO has very high viscosity index, therefore its viscosity is less affected by temperature compared to Group II. So I'm wondering how can you say Group IV is not good.
