I cannot describe how disappointed and disgusted I am towards Peugeot's after sales service. My car broke down on 3 separate occasions:

1st time they say fuel pump (claimed warranty)
2nd time they say fuel seal/high pressure pump (claimed warranty)
3rd time they say engine harness (electronics) (claiming warranty)

My car has been in the service center for 3 WEEKS now, it it just SITTING THERE and PENDING APPROVAL for warranty replacement. Even worst, what I found out today from calling the service advisor is that they REJECTED the warranty claim.

WHAT. THE. HECK.

They diagnosed the problem to the electronics (harness) and yet they are not approving a warranty claim. This is going beyond what I can comprehend. My patience has ran out. Oh god.. I thought Peugeot was a good brand. I was so so so so wrong.

P.S. My car is due to celebrate the 1st birthday in 2 months notworthy.gif

You can do yourself a favor and all of us for the future if we run into similar problems. Please write to the CEO directly and cc copy to the Star, Peugeot head office in France and send a legal letter. I am sure something good will.come out of it. Also you can create an online petition for all of us to sign. Lets send a strong messages to Nasim.

I remembered the protest by the M'sian volkswagen purchasers in front of the VW HQ, & it worked! Changes were made by the VW management! We could start something along this line if all else fails!

i believe still the best way is resolve all your problems with Nasim and its authorised service centers.

Take my case for example, I have reported a problem with my almost 2 year old 408 NA . The car was hard to start especially after leaving the car idle overnight or after long hours e.g. after a days work ------I have to twist and turn the ignition key sometimes two times, before it would fire up. At times though seldom I even have to do it on third attempts), it first appeared on and off but then it had worsen to almost daily, initially i have highlighted this to Chan Sow Lin Branch but they could not fix it and mentioned they have reported this in the system and advised me to approach Glenmarie HQ for warranty claim.

I wrote to Clic and call them but they were all booked up, so i asked if GeoAuto can help and without appointment, i went there in a morning and have the problem diagnosed and it was found a speed sensor faulty issue is the culprit, so geoAuto helped me put in the warranty claim, at that time, it was near Raya holidays, so i was told to expect the parts to come in 2 weeks. Well two weeks eventually becomes almost 2 months later after regular call up and email to clic, the parts was changed FOC EVENTUALLY but i had to leave my car overnight there. and while at it, i also ask them to check the air cond. smell issue AFTER even replacing the filter at 40k km service recently of which they claim they have cleaned it 'More' thoroughly... which resulted into Smell gone,,,,well for now...

It was frustrating re: the wait . Sure! it was very time consuming in chasing them , Sure that too! it caused anxiety and nervousness, sure you bet!

The experience was even worsened with untidy work shown (certain car internal plastic covers was removed obviously but somehow the service technician has even overlooked to put them back), Can you imagine? it was even heartbreaking when your colleagues and wife tell you in your face, "SEE? French cars, told you so"

It was lucky for me that i have a second car and a driver (wife's car and she volunteered to chauffeur me through the ordeal, and we took a day off on top of me taking additional time off when i drove my car to Geoauto before leaving it there)

But if i sit back and ask myself: Were Clic@naza's team and the service advisors at GeoAuto patient, courteous and apologetic, yes, they were, these individuals i am sure are dealing with many cases (just look at the car lining up at service centres) and met with angry faces and raised voices, you bet and even as much as i would hate to admit it, they are possibly doing their best to help us and so far to me they have not yet fail in my score cards, but i can imagine when a parts did not turn up, or delay somewhere, somehow, it is actually beyond their control.

I learnt that being brutally honest with them helps, they are just like you and me, normal person who deserve some fundamental level of respect. I even tell them look guys, we are in this forum of car owners who don't just ONLY criticize but PRAISE the cars and service too when it is due. We also get sneered by people (even our close ones) who now give us these. ''See, I have told you so'' kind of snap backs, and it would not help their (Peugeot's) sales, brand and reputation

We praise when we get good service too...but bear in mind not all encounters are sweet (especially when you come with a 'problem'). My advice to all who are facing problems, small and big with your car now, you got to do your part in chasing them, call & email clic, call the service advisor even when they don't call you back (as PROMISED), it is your car, who is going to take care of your baby if not you taking the lead?

I am not sure everyone would agree, this is just my perspective icon_rolleyes.gif

it is sad when it comes to this but like what energy analyst said, not everything is within their control. do bear in mind also the totally negative outlook on the brand and your model's acceptance when it comes to selling off time if public actions were to be taken. nobody wins. best to engage and sometimes, relating to them will be a better option. and yes, i can assure you, those guys at clic get yelled at everyday. so a soft word may in fact work in your favour.

imaging everyone screaming n yelling at them and here comes someone who empathises with them. wouldn't they be more receptive to sort out your issues? you may have other views like 'i am a paying customer and it is my right to yell if i'm pissed' then by all means do what you want to do but do bear in mind the consequences of such an action.

just my 2 cents worth on this.

I am with all you guys here - you share from the heart. This is like you are so in love with this girl and most people told you not to but you still proceed and end with heart break but still admit it's worth it all - she's a great ride. The going was great while the going was good and I mean the car...

Just one more question - does other Pug model face issues like these ie. 508, 2008, 3008?

Hi
When I get my Car and since I am getting from a Dealer, how do I know if the car is indeed manufactured in 2014. I know the grant shows but anyway dealers/nasim can manipulate?

I understand we can check the VIN but not sure if the year is Model year or Manufactured year.

Where is the Vin is located for peugeot 408?

your geran will mention year of manufacturing

VINs are visible at the bottom of the front windscreen, a small cut out of the black area icon_rolleyes.gif

i believe they do share the common engine and electronics

i think those are common defects and they are doing a silent recall to fix them

unless the notorious local brand "beli ****** macam tu la bang"

My Lion lost power and high fuel consumption, so I ask the technician to check for me the problems when I send for the door stop replace claim under warranty,

1) Air filter is dirty - Replace
2) Spark plugs wear - Replace

Total damage = RM 368.00

Now my Lion is silky smooth and regain power again.
# Air filter play a important role as this turbo engine suck more air the normal NA engine, I think should replace it every 20,000 kms, what do you think ?

Hi vknight, referring to me? blush.gif I've collected my car and the experience for the last 4 days was fantastic. thumbup.gif Still, cars are meant for years so keeping my finger cross. One reason I choose to be a late buyer is so that any reliability issue can be coped on the production level earlier. I love Peugeot so need to play safe knowing they are not known for reliability and after sales... sad.gif I do get very worry like u but I believe it's still depending on luck! I hope I'm right! icon_rolleyes.gif

Aside to the rest, any way to put air circulation and air con mode on default? I realized I have to manually turn them on after starting engine since I have the habit to off air con before shuting down my car.
