@cheaka

At first, you need a lot of patience with him. Firstly, the water. Are you using waterdish or the bottle? If you use the bottle, you might need to train him a bit on how to use..

About the bag, just buy a drawstring bag from the RM5 shop. I think some forumers here can recommend where, I'm not sure where to get but I got mine from Ikano. Breathable ones will do.

Try not to use coconut shell for the first few weeks. Let him sleep on your smelly shirt for a while biggrin.gif Like this it's easier to interact with him smile.gif

Suiteng:

Thank you. I am such a lousy pet owner. I am using the waterdish. BUt the water level seem to be at the same level since the first day i got him.

I will visit the pet shop to get the bag.

As for coconut shell, can i take it out now...and just leave my shirt there.???

Nolah... everyone was a noob before. Just telling based on my experience only. Got replace the dish with fresh water everyday? If he's not drinking from the dish, perhaps he was used to bottle? What did the pet shop equip his cage with?

Just take out the shell and leave your smelly shirt in. Make sure it's enough to cover his whole body.. scare he cold cold ler...

erm can giv opinion on what i give my gliders is good or not?during night i feed them 1 big spoon of what i've blend, 1 egg + 1 apple+ 1 big spoon ( which mostly chinese people use to drink soup)+ 1 big spoon of honey) i feed them with green peas and apple. sometimes i feed them with cricket and mealworm. during morning i feed them a few pieces of honey dews + carrot. is this all right? i stop giving them the BML mix juz only because today when i went to a pet shop, the owner which also owns a glider told me that feeding those mix with attificial food(gerber's baby food) is not good. so i stop feeding them with that and i tried my own mix. So what do u ppl think? blink.gif

cheaka,

it took quite awhile for me to notice a significant drop in the water level from her bottle. i'd recommend bottle, more hygenic, because sometimes the glider will decide to topple it over and wet herself, which you probably don't want lol. very simple, wet your fingertip with the water from the bottle, get it near ur glider mouth, then wet the ground below the bottle also. in fact, you probably won't need to as gliders will explore their enclosure and discover the wonders of bottles smile.gif if you're afraid ur glider will suffer from dehydration, provide lotsa fruits like watermelon and honeydew.

patience is the key, again, try using the mealworm trick i told u. lure ur glider onto your hand. maybe rub your hands on your hair or face when oily for the smell..haha. remember to use hands to grab the mealie...

as for the light, i'm not really sure. my girl will come out when she sees her blue dish full with food, i guess that takes some time. gliders learn slowly, so you keep doing it, they'll get the idea.

oh yes, if your glider bites you, don't retract your hand, but you have to take the bite. simply because if you retract, ur glider will know that biting will work.

vio,

some gliders can't take honey, so check if your glider has diarrhoea. logically the baby food should be safe to eat, why would it be called baby food in the 1st place? however, i do not feed my girl everyday, i experiment with various food. search online for some glider mix recipes, and always experiment. different gliders will have different favourites smile.gif

mamahui,

exoterra is a good brand..but all their products expensive la..

Suiteng: thanks again for your guidance. I finally got him out from the coconut shell last night. Was trying to lure him out with the apple but he refuses to get out from the coconut shell, so i had no choice but to take out the coconut with him inside, the use my smelly sleeve to try to get him out. i had to tilt the coconut down then only he climb out.

I leave my whole t-shirt at one corner at the bottom of the cage with some of the cut out sleeve. he was not use to it. was hanging upside down on top of the cage.

After a few minutes, he was going around the cage, i am glad this is the first time i see him drink water from the dish and also take the "kao chi" out from the other dish too.

This morning, i was worried. Couldn't find him at all. Then realised that he really dig himself into the t-shirt. i try to see how he is...he make the noise...then i don't dare to kacau him liao. i think i stressed him out too much. so i left some banana for him.

Later today, i will try to get the drinking bottle and also the pouch. I hope things will improve..... sweat.gif

They are both attacking each other! It seems to be better now... they hardly fight. Not sure why they fight to begin with. Could it be that they want attention?

I only feed my gliders with gerber baby food until they are good enough to eat solids. Never heard of baby food is bad for glider.. hmm.. Your mix is good but TOO much honey tongue.gif Their pee pee will be very smelly ler... Give lesser honey, a teaspoon will be enough to put the flavor in it. So far so good biggrin.gif More things to be discovered by yourself. Gliders have different personalities.

They will bark if they want attention. If they are hissing or crabbing, perhaps they were playing with each other.. my Benben and Sasa also like to play the I-bite-U-U-bite-Me game.. biggrin.gif

Yup yup....anyway, question to ask...if i keep feeding him Apple...is it enough ah?....Because i tried giving him boiled chicken meat, boiled egg, carrot and banana. He doesn't really eat it. One bite only then he don't want liao.

When he eat apple, he will something like tasting instead. He munch munch munch only and leave some of the bits out.

How much should we actually feed them ah? Like mine, an Adult Male SG, 2 slices of Apple enough ah?

Apple tend to leave smell after that. Is it okay if i feed him pink guava? As i feel pink guava don't turn black after a while like Apple and it contain a lot of water. And sweet too.

Mix them up. SG likes fruit cocktails, so give them a mix of it. Apple, Banana, Peach, and Grapes might be a good mix. Swap around the fruits from time to time... add carrots, vege, and stuff like that so that they won't get used to be fed only one single food.

If all else fails, strap the bugger to a 9v battery and discipline it.

Well there's a way, but it is up to you. Just ignore his crabs. You're the boss, and after the first week you should be pulling the shots. Goto the cage, tell him straight to his face "dude, you're here for a week, and a day in my clothes, and you still don't remember me? You're not retarded so you better stop that crap."

Then, touch him, and don't pull away when he crabs. He'll tire after a while, and then gently stroke him, and just don't cabut when he bites or crabs. If he bites, don't pull away, just freeze. His teeth aint strong enough to break skin I guess.

Wait, you did say its an adult right? This complicates matters...

Give it time I guess... feed it more, spend more time with it, get bitten regularly and it'll warm up to you.

Seriousy, you don't wanna consider the 9v battery treatment? tongue.gif

wrong. gliders natural diet is eucalyptus sap. how they obtain the sap? by piercing the bark of the tree with their teeth. so guess what it can do to your skin? brows.gif

hahaha....easier said then done...

Well, the moral of the story is, dun save the little investment to get a joey. By spending that little more, you'll be able to get a tame baby SG where u can bond with.

Njoy the bites...
