Late in saying this... but smellyocheese you did a great job wth the new thread. Very informative, I likey likey thumbup.gif

Yes Sui Teng my babies eat the bedding at the bottom of their cage. But now that is not so worrisome. They make loads of noise at night, from their playing. When they are wrestling, one of them will fall and hit the bottom of the cage with a load "bam". Then when they run overzealously on the wheel they fly out and "bam" again. Then when they are on me and do their jumping to the cage or anywhere...they miss cue sometimes and land real hard. Will they break anything? They are so small....

Thanks smellyocheese. I will take the same route as SuiTeng and play with them from the moment I get home from work. Maybe that will tire them out and keep them from doing Kamikaze jumps.

Their nails are killer though. Usually I can only take about 30 minutes of them crawling on me. When they grip upside down on the inside of my arm or leg, the only thing I can think about is : Ouch! Plus the scars on my arms and the small little holes are not exactly nice either.

Oh and the glider mix called Slurp. How do I get it? I am already making a mix for them that is said to be the safest and its well rounded.

Consists of:

Apple juice
Carrot juice
Wheat germ
Apple sauce
Yogurt
Oats
Broiled chicken
Wheatgerm

Can anybody tell me if this is ideal? I already bought the ingredients in bulk. So i better not waste it after I busted my wallet for it.

QUOTE(boigamaniac @ Aug 9 2006, 09:54 PM)
On the contrary, I think ur mix is perfect. Yoghurt is an extremely rich source of calcium - paragraph 6 http://www.pygmypets.com/sg8.htmlApple and carrots are excellent sources for vitamins. However, for the sake of taste, do vary fruits once in a while.

The broiled chicken is more than a sufficent source of protein. But considering it gets boring in taste after a while, u shud try live prey items like pinkies or cicak. Gliders dont tire of them. I've been keeping gliders for about two years now and they never get sick of the taste of blood and flesh.

They love cicaks... dont forget in the wild they naturally prey on any moving thing they can catch.

As for my glider diet here it is:-

3 times a week fruit slices with dog biscuits, sometimes with rasberry/strawberry jam.
3 times a week yoghurt with slices of fruits or dog biscuits.

And once or twice a week live prey.

Regards.

Thank you for the feedback Boigamaniac. I do actually feed my SGs a variety of fruits with the mix and calcium powder sprinkled on top, as a staple part of their diet. I am also feeding them meal worms and would eventually feed them crinkets.

While your suggestions in feeding them pinkies and cicaks may seem viable... I can't do it!!! I think the ickyness factor is way to high for me. Feeding them the mealworms is already a little gross, but I am fine with that. But seeing blood and guts eaten by my SGs is another thing altogether.

I admit I am a big wussie with a faint heart. But I would still like to kiss their snouts every night and not think of the gore.

PS: Anybody want to share their SGs' diet list as well?

Awww all your joeys are so adorable!!!! Crazymouse the photos of Kiah are really nice.

Just wondering, crazymouse and smellyocheese: where did you get your pouch from? It looks much better than the one I have. Looking to get another pouch because mine is so worn out from so many washes because my SGs like to pee and poo in it

Thanks girls. Will go look for some good pouches. Anybody know how to stop their glider from peeing and pooing in the pouch? Or even me cry.gif I will like a toilet. Really when Roscoe wants to come out and play he will jump on my hand just to pee first, followed by shitting mad.gif

If the Gliders were in their natural habitat, the forest and I would so happen to walk by... I am sure that I would look like some huge walking toilet to them. In all probability they will still pee and poo on me! To make matters worse all the SGs will glide on me just to do their business cry.gif

Not sure if its some kind of SG spitefulness. They look up at me with such innocent eyes on their adorable faces will emptying their bladder on me. Its a conspiracy!

Anyone have any suggestions on potty training? icon_question.gif

Ahh such adorable pictures! Makes want to hunt my pair SGs to take a still shot of them too.

On another matter. Yes I have tried taking my SGs out to play only after they have woken up for a while. In fact I usually take them out to play when they are looking really sadly out of the cage and clanging their "tin cups" (if they had any) onto the bars of their cage. But they still pee and poo on me! I think they are excitedly waiting for me to take them out just so they can relieve themselves on me.

Can SGs have such wicked intentions behind their sweet fronts? (Smart critters!)

I have no idea where to get the SG smell minimiser. But if anyone else knows... please share it. My room smells like a toilet, them critters are so naughty! Its hard to believe but this one time they spread all their poo onto the wall behind the cage! shocking.gif I have no idea how they did this, but I spent a good half hour scrubbing the wall down.

Oh yeah Dananmy, your SG does resemble a German Shepard in a small way. Its the ears! So pointy and long! Damn cute rclxms.gif

I bought those pellets from pet safari too. Not sure if their any good but my SGs don't like eating it. In fact they like these natural organic cat kibbles a lot. Roscoe will go through all the cat kibbles he can, greedy critter. Then look really desparate if I don't feed him the cat kibbles and start eating aspen ohmy.gif

Lucky that he now likes the mix I give him.

Anybody's SGs bite them like all the time? Everytime I put my hand in to touch them they will sniff at my fingers and then proceed to bite it. It doesn't seem vicious though. He will grab onto my finger with paws and claws and start biting and nibbling. Maybe my hand smells like food? I don't know....

Well I am convinced that Rene and Roscoe can sleep through any noise. Last week some men came in to fix the bathroom door and much hammering and wood splintering sounds ensued. Both the little babies just slept on cuddled in their bed.

Last night Roscor was so cute!!! Gave him some corn with mix to eat. As he has just woken up, I help hold up his butt in his bed for him to eat. Then he happily sat in my hand until he finished his corn and cleaning himself. wub.gif

Hahaha I might do that if I am bored enough. They would most probably only give me some 'lansi' look. Aiks like I am a creature lower that a sugar glider notworthy.gif

Speaking of which they are like cats! They would only play with me if they insisted on coming out to began with. If I take them out because I feel like it, they will look irritated and will try to jump back into the cage after a while.

Aww infinite your SG is so cute! Makes me not want to leave my SGs at all for the weekend. I will only be away from them a few days but it will be my first trip away from them. I am already wringing my hands in worry. What if something happens to them when I am gone? What with all the horror stories of SGs escaping, getting hurt or even dying! cry.gif

Especially so when Rene actually kissed me on my face when she was on my shoulder. Roscoe was pooing excitedly when he saw me. Sigh I am feeling resigned to my fate as a walking toilet. But I shal persevere!

Aiks whats the difference? I have never seen my SGs walk in a straight line before. Always jumping around. But when they get on the room floor and walk around they seem to be crouching so low their bellies touches the ground. Like a crawling walk.

Is this normal? Are they just weird? Or is something wrong with them? They have always been like this though.

How noble! That joey looks so adorable! Such nice sleek fur. Unfortunately my pair is already a handful (But its so tempting). I can just imagine that a third joey will poo on my head.

I hope you find him/her a good home.

Not sure if you should worry. My gliders like to hang upsidedown to sleep sometimes. Maybe its just their little quirk. I get worried when I see Roscoe sleeping at the bottom of the cage instead of the bed. I think Rene must have kicked him out for being naughty tongue.gif

And yes I am unfortunately a SG toilet. yawn.gif

I've checked with the people at SunCoast Sugar Gliders, they do ship in the Wodent Wheels --> http://www.sugar-gliders.com/wodent-wheel.htm

; ) Just to let you guys know. In case there are any of you who are interested in purchasing it.
*
Oh wow! I actually love the sounnd of the Nail-O-Matic that could be bought with the wodent wheel. http://www.sugar-gliders.com/glider-nails.htm

Such a wonderful invention! Especially all the trouble I have to go through just to get their nails trimmed. They cried, crab, poo, pee, got violent and aggressive and bite!

Anybody have any suggestions on how we can order these products at minimal cost? Maybe a group of forumers can bulk order. Or better yet: we can suggest these products to pet shops that sell sugar gliders! ie. Pet Safari. Hopefully this will lower the shipping costs.

On second thought.... getting the pet shop to get these products may have a lot of issues:

- Firstly, they might not even consider bringing it over.
- Or they might take their time to present it to management and then an even longer time to ship the products.
- Worse still the pet shop might just hitch up the prices of these goods because they have to import it and then ship it over - and still want to earn a profit from it.

Maybe getting a group of willing forumers to put in orders for this will help greatly in reducing the shipping costs. What say you?

Wow...... sound really violent. Didn't wait for them to sleep before trimming?

Yes I waited but they woke up very betrayed. Its like "I let you hold me while I sleep and you attack my nails". Hahahahah even critters are like humans most times.

Eeee cute! Is that your new baby?

Stayed up till 2am last night doing the mix for my critters. Could not bear one day of seeing their sad faces if I don't have any mix to put into their bowl. Really am a slave to my SGs. The moment they get out of the cage they poo and pee. Especially Roscoe who have the gall to drag his poop all across the floor! shakehead.gif

Hey anybody has gliders that don't eat their fruits? Mine did at the beginning. But after a few weeks of giving them the mix, they have only nibbled at the fruits but licked up all the mix. Worrying... if they don't eat the fruits will they get enough nutrients?

Reptivite you can get RM29 at Pets Wonderland but I bought the last bottle from MidValley heheheh.... Sera's Reptical C is RM36 I think.. Exo Terra Calcimize... I dunno how much. There is also another calcium, Wardley brand, Rm28 a bottle... I include these in my glider mix....

Crazymouse could you get all the above vitamins at Pets Wonderland? Which outlet? I have been looking for these supplements. So far I am only feeding my gliders the magic powder that I bought from Pets Safari.

By the way, to anybody who has expressed an interest in Sun Coast Glider's products: I have just discovered that they do not make any deliveries to Malaysia. This products will only be delivered within the USA, until further notice that is.
