I guess that's the problem with a lot of people with no time to do research and responsible enough to keep their glider in the cage. With little common sense, u should know since you bought them wild, that they are wild gliders and definitely have tendencies to escape if given the chance. Even a 4 year old kid will know if you open the door of the bird cage, the bird will fly away.....

how very sad indeed.....

Can't resist the "cute" joey they selling and just buy on impulse!!!

I had the privilege to witness this young and naive girl who bought a glider from Pet Safari. I do not think that the joey will survive because this young lady seemed really oblivious and clueless about SGs. She do not even dare to hold on to the joey for more than 10 mins. I made a prayer for that joey because she intends to feed it the glider pellet sold at the shop also.

And she bought the smallest bird cage to house the poor joey.... rclxub.gif rclxms.gif .....what can be more perfect than that!!?

The sad thing is, I do not think those people working in Pet Safari is educated in the first place. They just sell and do not even know that there are stuff like SG Mix and they need to be in pairs. If they know, the least they could do is educate potential buyers....

MALAYSIA BOLEH, APA PUN BOLEH!!!!

InfiniteVoid, well said.....
Thanks for answering for me....bwahahahahahaha.....

To all Glider Owners, pls take note:

Please keep the SG population in Malaysia clean!!!! We don't want to be blamed for causing infectious diseases. This article originated in the US and CANADA. Hope we are not affected.

THIS IS A HEALTH ALERT FOR ALL CARERS DEALING WITH SUGAR GLIDERS AND/OR PEOPLE WHO COME IN CONTACT WITH SUGAR GLIDERS:

SUGAR GLIDERS CAN CARRY AND TRANSMIT SALMONELLA TO HUMANS. IT HAS BEEN DOCUMENTED IN SOME SUGAR GLIDERS THAT ORIGINATED IN TEXAS AND SURROUNDING AREAS (MOST LIKELY FROM GLIDER MILLS LIKE FLYING FUR RANCH AND CUSTOM CAGE WORKS )

THIS IS NOT NEW INFORMATION--IT JUST BEARS REPEATING FROM TIME TO TIME. PLEASE BE SAFE WHEN HANDLING SUGAR GLIDERS:

ALWAYS WASH YOUR HANDS AFTER HANDLING A SUGAR GLIDER--IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT CHILDREN ESPECIALLY WASH THEIR HANDS THOROUGHLY AFTER HANDLING SUGAR GLIDERS.

You can find this article here:

Provided you have time to take care of it. Bring it everywhere you go and play with it when it is active. For a student, it shouldn't be a big problem bcoz most of the time you can still trade off the time to partner with your glider. But for working, it is different story. It is highly depend on your working environment. Not all the environment encourage you to bring along your partner to working place. Having a pair is highly recommend for those who can't sacrifice enough time with your glider.

It shouldn't be said "must" be in pair. Or totally take for granted "not" to be in pair. All boil down to personal preference of how the owner shall take care of. If the owner is not educate enough, it is always the best to recommend in pair instead of single. Being that unknown to new comer, the owner might take some time to accept the glider existence, which mean he/she would not carry the glider along them. Further more, glider lifespan is 15yrs, wouldn't the owner be with it all the time for the 15yrs? Nobody can promise it.

Well, it is always said that we can get a partner for it if the owner get bored with the glider. For the fact, introductory of partner won't be easy in adult stage. You might not get your glider to accept the partner completely. Though I would not say impossible but the possibility is there.

For the sake of headache later, it is always recommend to have in pair instead of single.

I totally agree as I already mentioned what I witness in Pet Safari the other day.... rclxms.gif

No. The price just rite for those ppl who know how to appreciate.

If Sugar Glider is priced at hamster price, I can't imagine what will happen later. The learning curve of taking care of Sugar Glider is totally different.

It is not suitable for those who think they are rodents, cute, and buy on impulse.

It is very easy to nail anything. U just get a wooden plank, then spread whatever that you want to nail, take a couple of nails and hammer, start hammering the nails into the plank through the target specimen. Walla!!!!

I think it will be really nice and interesting if you want to preserve your glider via nailing. U just spread it out and nail it to the wooden plank. Leave it out to dry and walla, u have a great stuffed/preserved animal!!!!

Good luck!!!

And your gliders are molting? I have not heard of Gliders molting before....something wrong?

khairizha,

How many from that litter you kept? 1/2 or 2/2? Lucky you have females. I dun mind trading to widen the gene pool. 4 months OOP is still okie. But by the time mine 2 months OOP yours would be 6 months. Teenagers are hard to bond with by then.... sad.gif

Do not need to use student as an excuse. If you cannot afford to buy means you cannot afford to maintain. So I recommend that you do not buy.
