Hi guys, other than APC / Nudie jeans, are there other brands of raw selvedge denim jeans that's similar or better in terms of quality?

Sorry if I did not read through all 5 versions of the old thread lol.. icon_rolleyes.gif

it depends on your budget first and foremost. for their price, apc and nudie are really good imo.
if what you're looking for is quality, then it's always Japanese denim at the top. they are pricey and if you're not wearing jeans often enough, then maybe it's not a good investment.
plenty of brands in the market now. just need to figure out basics like budget and fit as well as whether you're a denim enthusiast(more particular on smaller details).

Thank you.

Budget is not really a concern tbh, since a good pair of denim would or at least could last pretty long.

Just to be save, I'm planning my budget roughly around APC ~ Nudie's range, 300 onward to 500++

Where can I find APC / Nudie in M'sia? Not really sure of my size so was hoping I could try to find 1 to fit in before getting it from overseas hmm.gif

In terms of fit, what do you mean by that?

And I'm a budding enthusiast, I daresay. brows.gif

i doubt you can find rm300-500 for new pair of nudie or apc to be honest.
sizing is tricky so make sure you know your measurements.
i mean the fitting as in slim, sknny, straight etc

Hmm..

Coz I saw a pair around 150 usd onward, so from my rough calculations, it would not exceed a certain amount hmm.gif

Putting aside pricing, which is a small issue, I read up on the fitting which you mentioned earlier.

Nudie jeans based on their website has a few types of fitting.

I'm more interested with the straight or slim cutting, with normal leg opening hmm.gif

grim tim will have more thigh room compared to slim jim, but with taper below the knee.

Slim Jim looks cool. Gonna now find a place that have it so I can try fitting it.

Why pay more for something that cost less elsewhere?

It's unethical..if u want to buy overseas or online..don't treat local denim store as your fitting room

Unless it's your shop we are talking bout, I dun really see a problem here?

Besides, if I like it that much, I might buy it on the spot rather than to wait 2 months for it.

In addition, they might not have my size and other factors that could deter me from spending my hard earned dollars there.

Again, what's the problem?

It's my rights as a customer to try on the apparel and decide whether I want to purchase it 1st for an extra 50 bucks or I could always opt to go for any other brand from any other outlet.

Don't really understand why you wanna make a fuss out of something that's actually nothing.

Unless the shop has a big label say, "Try it only if you want to purchase it definitely"

Most of the shops dont overcharge anyways.
Just slighly more than price if you buy online +shipping cost.

Benefits are you can try on different size.

Orrrrrrrr plan a holiday somewhere haha. Like Japan

Yeah, so when I try it on, I like the pants, I take out my wallet and buy lo.

But if they dun have my preferred cutting or size, takkan wanna force myself to buy?

My point is even simpler. Don't need to make a fuss when there's no reason to.

If you own the store, then I'll gladly adhere to your "No-fitting-and-must-buy-here" policy.

But since you don't, no reason to make a fuss when it does not affect you.

Have a nice day.

Lucky day denim heads, just got back from a trip to Japan a few days ago and got over enthusiastic with denim purchases at Fullcount, Harajuku and Americaya, Ueno.

Made sizing mistakes i.e. too big, with Fullcount 1108 one wash size 29/34 (hemmed to 32 inches at Americaya and chain stitched) and Samurai 710xx 15th Anniversary raw size 29/36 (hemmed to 34 inches at Americaya and chain stitched, and hot soaked 30 minutes at home, now 32.5 inches). Selling both at almost 30% off Japanese prices i.e. RM550, COD in PJ/KL. Measurements (checked against my own measurements) for both can be found at Blue in Green website (Blue in Green) and from the user "Pirates" on Rakuten (Pirates, Rakuten). If there are no takers soon its going up on Superfuture. Thanks.

All gtb label come in one wash state, not sanforized..these 2 terms are different

http://www.rawrdenim.com/dictionary/s/sanforization/

Gtb already washed so no point soaking..most of the shrinkage already gone..

lol malaysia ke arah kuasa besar dunia

Hi xxxx, can you tell me, if you know. Why there are so many fraud orders from Malaysia using fake credit cards, but not many orders for normal people? Having these fraudulent orders, it seems there is a big demand in Malaysia for Japanese jeans. Is it because we do not have our website in Malay language? We would like to sell more to people in Malaysia.

lol even some seller from japan asking me bout this credit faud in our country... we are in serious business now

A lot of US site dun accept M'sia CC too because of this.

Unless you email them personally and try to reason with them laugh.gif

It's a very well known issue with M'sian issued CC esp when it comes to international purchases..

You are right, it is an old news.

Some online stores would rather send to African countries than to Malaysia.

Washed jeans??

I wear 25oz denim and boots everyday to work..not a problem i guess..pretty much subjective base on each individuals preferences and ability to withstand hot wheater..i just wear it for my own pleasure, not to please others..so if i am feeling incomfortable wearing just straight away rotate with my 15.5oz fullcount

I keep it raw, i usually wear on Sunday outing, so it doesn't really get dirty or end up smelly, usually wash around 3 months once, sent to dry cleaning, so far the color still preserved, so just wondering how u guys preserve the raw jeans

Ues oxford and blue blanket, the pant need hemming i know sweat.gif
Bridle belt from Equus and Shoe from herringshoe UK

Loose fit as the UES oxford is from sale, last piece and is 1 size bigger than usual i wear, so i went with the lose pant. Pant from Blue Blanket, bought 2 difference size 30 and 32, all even size and OGL only have 1 size 1 piece
Both size can wear but have give different fit, 30 give a slimmer fit.

The UES think i have my tailor put a dart behind to slim it abit, maybe, both wear really roomy and comfortable. But look a bit sloopy i guess.

Althought i dun have much jean/pant for comparison, the blue blanket construction is really top notch, the stiching is cleaner and more finer. Made in italy, and i thought what does the italian know about raw jeans, damn .. eye opener, they really take it to the next level. Bloody expensive during launching at OGL few month back, no gut to pull the trigger then. when they did a offer sale, no hesitation to grab it icon_rolleyes.gif

The UES shirt their stuff really up there with FH and Sammy, can even say might even slightly better in workanship, problem is not well known and they price is on par with sammy, guess more people willget sammy and FH wen pricing the same.

receive today mail from END, gloverall selvedge jacket, damn tight and need to break in, this thing is raw sweat.gif

Just visited Kronoz today.

Saw my pair of Grim Timm nudie jeans for a reasonable price. Somewhat feels kinda light after trying on APC New Standard.

Any idea which store in kl area has APC in stock? Been hunting for it for quite a while already and finally have the amount of dollars to blow on it lol

I may have an answer for you regarding that matter.

You can email the site and state your intent as a serious buyer. After that, they'll usually clear the payment and settle everything for you.

It's very common for M'sian CC to be flagged as fraudulent. Therefore, I usually email the seller before proceeding to purchase using credit card to avoid some of the issues above.

Hope your purchases would get through smile.gif

Theres was a time i was searching Uniqlo's selvedge denim high and low. Every uniqlo store had me flipping the ends to see whether its selvedge or not. tongue.gif

Not sure of the cutting, but going there to test out the jeans is always my first advice. some cutting may suprise you on how well it compliments you.

Lemme see. I'd been following Tarik jeans for a while, and honestly was quite put off by their early offerings. Their original leather patch, the stylized 'tarik' font back pocket stitching, and the selvedge line on the outside of the coin pocket, these details were... not my taste I guess hmm.gif
Then they released the Tarik Redline. Reworked leather patch which looked WAY better, plain back pockets, inner pocket lining in maroon. This more subtle looking pair got me to visit Nusantara Denims in Subang to check em out. Was really impressed by the feel of the denim, the cut they seem to be going for is something slim-ish, meant to be worn a bit low. At first the fit didnt feel so good but from experience figured they would slowly stretch and soften (which they did! laugh.gif )
Only thing they need to work on is the zipper. First pair I tried had a faulty zipper, and it sounded like they had a few pairs with the same problem. Probably not using button fly to keep the price lower. As for the price, I'd say it's very fair for the product you get. It's worth the money. I'm satisfied with the quality.
I really recommend you check out the store in SS15, just try a pair and see how you like it.

Not all blue. They had a run in black as well some time back.

BTW, haven't posted here in ages. LAYANGLAYANG still around? I'm still hunting for a jacket similar to the persimmon dyed Sugarcane jacket you posted ages ago. Any leads? whistling.gif

QUOTE(kuzgo @ May 5 2014, 11:58 PM)
*
Thanks for the decent review. Now Im interested to see in person.

Too bad I have some jeans to rotate this time around. probably next time when Im hunting some denims again.

BTW guys, what have you got in your current denim rotation?

I can start:
1. Momo x JB 0705SP
2. Ceremony Fine Wear DSX213 (if im not mistaken)
3. Cheese Denim SF 13 black denim
4. N&F Red weft weird guy
5. TR raw selvedge denim (can't remember the model)

Seems that malaysia market is expanding..
I myself love denim jeans and especially vintage jeans. but due to the fact that the prices of premium jeans or vintage jean ( repro) are really killing.
I see that Bread and butter in Pavillion are selling mostly True Religion and Evisu. yea?
By the way what is so special about True Religion? except worn by celebrity. and i dont really see that their jeans are of selvedge.

I can't answer why but I certainly can answer how.

You just wear it like a pants laugh.gif

Besides, unless you walk a lot in a day, I doubt the jeans would actually bother you much.

i guess you guys are used to this climate that you don't sweat much or just stay indoors most of time; but i personally try to even avoid wearing long pants (khaki's) if i can here, just 5 minutes in a non-ac area like carpark or mamak and I'm sweating already. Can't imagine wearing raw denim which is even thicker!

Technically still a student laugh.gif

I walk to LRT, from lrt go down at station then walk again to work place.

After work, maybe go walk again.

So far okay la, but occasionally if wear too long, will get uncomfortable.

The mamak must be far then laugh.gif

Maybe coz during my uni days, I walk 2km+ every day, so wearing a jeans and walking under the sun feels normal.

Nowadays I spend more time in the shopping malls, so I don't really feel the sweat problem.

But i do agree, if you keep walking and sweating, the jeans would be quite uncomfortable to walk around in after a while.

For the leather shoes, take ur time saving the money, but invest in a good one. One reliable pair is all you need (but who am i kidding tongue.gif).

seluar raya arrived already! haha..

i think i'm gonna stick with N&F WG from now on (or at least for awhile). Doesn't hurt my wallet that much and i'm sure of the sizing and cut. Can't bear the pain of waiting for so long and getting a pair that doesn't fit right.

And please ignore the shoe. Those arrived together yesterday and decided to take a group photo.

APC buy online.

Facebook search them.

For other brands you can go to Secret Art Touch in BB Plaza or Undergroundstreet in Sungei Wang Plaza. If you have so much money to spend then try Bread and Butter in Pavillion laugh.gif

Stay TTS (true to size). Most raw denims nowadays are most sanforized which makes minimal stretch or shrinkage.

If the new raw denims feels a little big snug but you are able to button up, means the jeans fit you well.

Unionmade is the machine to stitch the jeans. Vintage machines for the authenticity of the stitching details.

Good budget to start with. I'd recommend some local denim artisans like Cheese Denim or Ceremony Fine Wear. You can check out the first page first post on the shop locations.

Hi gurus. Me saw evisu Japan selling for 50%discount but it is made in China. Is that a real deal?
*
based on previous thread, ive read that evisu is outsourcing to china and macau.
so if you wanna buy ori evisu even though it is made in china just buy at the boutique la.
dont buy from mudah or other people unless you know and trust the seller.

The story is the shipment of the collab didn't follow spec so some people were pissed about it. Among the stuffs that weren't right were the "W" stitching was supposed to be green but instead it was the usual red color. Also, the pockets are supposed to use duck canvas but what they got was the regular cloth.

Due to this some members were writing on Kronoz FB asking for price down since it's basically a regular IH with the exception of the IH+Kronoz+MyDenim leather patch but charging twice the regular price. Some people felt it was a rip off and started tagging Gilles in which he replied he was sorry about the hindsight but stressed that if Malaysians complain too much this would be the last collab with our local denims and he would much rather do a collab with other Asian countries.

Needless to say this statement pissed off even more people LEL

All of them IH, Kronoz & Mydenim

First, IH for farking up the design... I mean it's a limited edition 100pcs design don't they follow a blue print or something? Ultimately the maker is liable for this if you ask me.

Second, Kronoz for not doing a first piece buy-off procedure. I mean they could have asked IH to make one/first pair first then send it to Kronoz for confirmation before start of mass production. Can't they even ask IH to take photos of the product in detail before proceeding to continue with the rest of the 100 pairs? At least by doing so they could back their arses a bit.

Thirdly I'm not sure what's Mydenim role in this but surely they could also follow up with either Kronoz or IH to provide a monthly or weekly updates about what's going on. I was told this project started since last year?

Pretty much what I think too, after reading the facebook comments.

IH should at least be gracious and offer some compensation, or something instead of ranting over FB.

And yeah, point number 2 and 3 is very legit laugh.gif

you described it fair actually. i should know, i was one of their customers.

yeah, it wasn't handeled professionally.

IHUK and that local retailer didnt deliver as intended.

to have the cheek to say that we should be grateful in the first place shows the lack of respect they have to the customers.

they wouldn't even have secured the sales without Mydenim's help and commitment.

i'll comment the mydenim role:

mydenim had been requesting updates for this jeans for the longest time. we tried to follow up with the local retailer (being the official brand distributor) but the information flow was lacking.

it came to the point we just asked directly to IHUK to ask what's the status. only from there we got a glimpse of the status of the jeans. it was far from satisfactory, but at least something to update us.

it came to the point that IHUK just replied "No news is good news". imagine you spent rm1,250 on something which both the retailer and producer of the jeans cant even take the time to explain properly to their customers on the current status of their project.

after months of broken promises and deadlines, we only got an update UNOFFICIALLY via the retailer's facebook. no direct communication with Mydenim was made to say the jeans has arrived.

now, not only that showed the lack of communication, but to see that the jeans was not up to the request we wanted, that was the ticking point of our patience.

of course we made our displeasures heard.

at least i tip my hat that the local retailer admited their shortcomings and offered an option to their customer. i shall respect that and hope they honoured as to what they promised.

i cant say the same to IHUK. their arrogance to say that we should be greatful did nothing to impress me personally.

to say that it was a " gift" to have IH making the jeans for Mydenim since it is not a retailer, i shall summarise the absurdity of that claim:
1. a "gift" wouldnt cost you money
2. without mydenim, you wont be able to secure 62 out 100 sales.
3. initial order to final product didnt match means you didnt deliver the goods as per requested. no two ways about it.

but i hold my peace with the local retailer. amends were made and hope the promise can be delivered.

Additionally and this is purely my opinion I feel that the local retailer might be trying to bite more than it can chew. They have only started their operations like 1 or 2 years ago?

I feel that they are too eager to establish themselves as the big guns of local denim and trying to do too much with too little experience or time.

I hope they will learn from this. I mean business needs time to grow and youngsters nowadays are a bit impatient. They want their brand or shop to explode in the local scene but instead it has imploded.

A collab with local brands first would have been a good starting point for experience.

@junkyman is correct..but others who do not involve should not make assumptions..unsatisfied customer can always get a refund..or else they can walk away with those iconic pair..it's a win win situation..yes we are pissed off but things already resolved peacefully..what was written over over kronoz facebook page is purely personal opinion, does not represent the whole mydenim community

The jeans is up to IH standard..no faulty at all i must say..after being tried on, i dont care much much about those missing details..but this is my personal opinion

it could be the case. your suggestion of having the one off pair for inspection was a great idea. hope future collaborations can inplement this.

i'd encourage anyone to check them out. see....no bad blood vetween me and the local retailer. wink.gif

Price wise is the same or a bit less from buying IH from their international distributor.

You cant get the japanese domestic price unless you buy it online.

Chill bro..u should how how retailers make profit..

This a collab between mydenim, kronoz and iron heart..therefore..mydenim need to go through 2 different retailers (kronoz and ihuk) to get it done..off course retailers wanna make profit..it's just business..nothing else..that's why what you pay is exactly the price same as iron heart uk or selfedge..

some say some japanese retailers also do collab with iron heart..and their price are lower..the thing is you cannot compare ihuk price with japanese retail price..japanese retailers can always buy cheaper from japanese manufacturer..remember denimio??can other retailer beat their price??

Off course you can always buy iron heart 666lht from rakuten for about rm700++..some say iron heart take those current 666lht from current production, replace the patch and flasher, then stitch the stealth arc. I believe they was wrong..or just dig out at anything out of frustration..iron heart would never do that..at least from my point of view..as a forumer in sufu and ihuk..haraki also prepared a video for us when he monitoring the production..but the damage already done so i believe they are not gonna publish it..

This jeans were made specially for mydenim..off course we gather 62 customers for kronoz..but the green light from haraki to start production was based on giles recommendation..do you ever see iron heart do a collab with any forum?they normally work with trusted business partner only..collab with mydenim should be the first (and probably the last)..

Just wondering, does anyone have issues with leg twist? Happened with my APC's, right leg twists inwards pushing the selvedge line towards the middle. Same thing with my current Levi's.

Opinion from sifu, why is there fake samurai, flathead, etc... Come complete with selvage and only cost rm100 to rm 200? Is it so cheap to produce a selvage denim from a shutter loom?

leg twist is part of raw denim/selvedge is part of the allure. some people desire that look for the fades.

if you dont fancy it, try broken twill denim. left hand twill will also counter the leg twist if im not mistaken.

selvedge denim can also be source from countries like bangladdesh. lower production cost plus lower source cotton (non-zimbabwe cotton or non-texas cotton) can also produce cheap selvedge denim.

higher prices for jap denims is because of their source of cotton (zimbabwe being the best) plus the skill of the workers in the japanese mills contribute to more expensive but higher quality denims.

So it's due to a similar twill being employed, I need to read up more on this.
Not to say dislike, but the actual hassle of constantly adjusting the lower leg does lead to some interesting creasing and fades on the right knee. A benefit I'd say, if one doesn't mind it. I just don't like the selvedge facing the front, it looks quite awkward in my opinion.

GAP sources their selvedge from Bangladesh for their 1969 (?) range of selvedge jeans... however I think it maybe lower ounces due to the denim feels light and softer

Anyway don't need to go far if sourcing for reasonable quality selvedge that are mass produced on modern high speed high production shuttle loom. Our neighbors up north are making them and I have a feeling that's what they use for all the fake Momotaros or "Red line" selvedge Levis sold at chatuchak for 400 baht a piece

Fair Textile

Can see all the high speed rope dying, weaving, sanforizing, quality check and etc. here >>> http://fairtextile.com/index.php/technology

If those Levis with selvedge can be sold for about RM40 taking into account that the shop would earn at least RM5 from each pair that means the production cost for each pair would be less than RM35... minus out the labor for cutting, stitching and making the denim I won't be surprised that the denim cloth itself would cost around RM10 only

Got it. Thanks for the answer. So does this mean some denim designer can source cheap selvedge denim and sell it at a premium price around RM 400 to 600?

Totally agree with what you say. And sometimes feel like a ripoff when some jeans Designer selling them RM 400 for a piece. We won't know where the denim are from, I can alway say it's from Japan.

This is just an example of how an RM40 imitation selvedge can do what it's much more expensive RM1K brothers can... which is to stand (proudly) on its own lol.

user posted image

I'm sure many would loathe it and say "oh it's just some imitation crap, can't compare to my real selvedge that I bought for >RM1K". But really, if using this same cheap selvedge denim and improving it's workmanship, much better quality stitching etc, some savvy entrepreneur could claim that the denim is Made in Japan and sell it for a premium.

What I'm saying is that to take everything in life including selvedge denims with a pinch of salt

im not sure about designer jeans. some swear those designer jeans (eg Dior and Burberry) makes decent selvedge and raw denims rather than jump on the bandwagon.

truth is, as a buyer, we know the trade off whether the quality meets the price.

honestly i dont mind where the selvedge and raw denim is sourced from. if the quality and workmanship is there at the appropriate price, i'd buy it.

many had doubts initially on hearing about redcloud, a denim brand based in China. but the quality is there, and some buyers can appreciate that.

i just dont support fake denims. if they come out with an original brand, i have no qualms about it.

With my Petit New Standards, they weren't so bad but still quite obvious. A bit worse with my current Levi's 511 I'd say, maybe due to it being looser.

yes.. i will rather buy a cheaper brand than buying a fake samurai.
just saying that if they can come out with a good quality selvedge, might as well built your own brand. I guess thats the hard part of building up your own brand and convince people to buy it. but i hardly see why would anyone that know all this premium brand will buy fake one. Not everyone ( at least among my friend ) that really know about Samurai, Flat head , momotaro, etc .. and i think for an average joe they wont even bother spending 1k for a pair of denim. Of course me myself couldnt afford it. But at least i wont be buying a fake one. I rather by a cheaper uniqlo.
or if other brand like local brand or other Thai brand with a reasonable price then i will prefer that.

I guess you have to factor those jeans are also unsanforised causing the leg twist.

is that why there is this brand call unbranded brand? since they claim they use Japanese selvedge denim, not sure from which mill.

Unbranded is the "brand" that answers your question. it's basically you are paying for the denim, not the brand.

Hence it is relatively cheaper in that sense as supposed you are not paying for the brand and marketing of it. just the denim and workmanship.

even their patch is empty of any logo.

But i believe their denim is sourced outside Japan like Turkey if im not mistaken.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I always thought A.P.C.'s were sanforized? I never did a pre-wear soak for my pair, just recently did a machine wash because I can't really be bothered. Guess I can't put them on anymore post-wash, garage sales here I come.

Hi guys,

Just wanna ask, for those who always cuff their jeans, will the fold get torn or damaged?

Cos I used to have a pair of Edwin which I always cuff, and after almost a year, the fold at the cuff koyak. It's like free alteration ady.

Now I just bought a pair of Uniqlo's selvedge slim fit, and wondering will the cuff get damaged like that as well. sweat.gif

Was in Levi's The Gardens, they were selling selvedge denim. But unfortunately all of them are straight / regular cut. It had the 'Made in Japan' word in the tag, but doesn't mean that all tag with 'Made in Japan' was selvedge.

Noticed those too, Levi's is apparently selling a MIJ series at the moment. Didn't notice any rigid, and not a particular fan of the washes. If I'm not mistaken, they have a 508 MIJ too, tapered cut. No idea on origin of denim used though, any experts care to clarify?
I find the irony hilarious though.

Just sharing my uniqlo's slim fit straight jeans (selvedge).

user posted image
Nothing to shout about, but I'm kinda proud of my first selvedge. Not sure if they're raw though.
Made in Bangladesh, so I guess these are pretty much the low-ends of selvedge jeans. No mention of Kaihara, but likely the fabric is sourced from there.

At day 4 of wear:
user posted image

user posted image
Took this pic as reference, to compare after a while.
I gave it a brief cold soak to soften it before the first wear. Dye bleeds pretty badly into the soak water (considering it's really cold water cos it was raining that night). And it shrank a bit, almost an inch in length. Careful if you're wearing white sneakers or white shoe laces, the color will transfer.

user posted image
They're really light and soft. Even my cheap Edwin (not raw, not selvedge) feels much heavier. Not complaining though, they're really comfy, despite being a slim fit. And really easy to slip into.

user posted image
Unlike my other uniqlo pants, the zippers are pretty rough. Doesn't go smoothly all the way to the top. Protip: zip your pants first, then button it.
Planning to give it a quick warm soak after 2 weeks, just to shrink it a bit more, and then decide if wanna alter or not.
I'm not really a hardcore jeans enthusiast, so I'm gonna wash it after about a month or so. Gonna post some pics after the proper wash if you guys are interested.

Wouldn't suggest so many soaks, if it's sharp fades you're after. Quite curious about the shrinkage though, are Uniqlo denim unsanforized?

I prefer a subtle fade actually, so I dont really mind tongue.gif

I didnt really measure the jeans prior to the soak, but I can confirm that it's shorter after the soak. Cos my heels dont step on the jeans anymore, and I only have to single cuff rather than double cuff to make the jeans rest nicely on my shoes.

Nothing quite interesting if you're looking for rigid cuts, just pre-faded jeans in the usual models if I'm not mistaken. The only selling point is perhaps MIJ. They're available online too, now that Levi's has opened an online store for Malaysia.

Limited edition, RM249, featuring button fly. Unsure if same material with the previous selvedge, but it feels a bit stiffer. Description in UK website says it's able to fade.

Knowing uniqlo, that range probably isn't gonna be on sale. Even if it is, the discount isnt that much. Better hurry, i see not as many regular jeans, scared later tak ada size. tongue.gif

About shrinkage, I soaked my regular selvedge in cold water, and it shrink almost 1inch in length. Then later another soak in warm water, about another 1inch shorter, and tighter around the thighs. Not so much on waist.

Yup, numbers of pairs are limited in the shop so better grab yours before its gone.
I did the first warm soak with the selvedge button fly and it shrunk abt 1 inch in length too! Minimal in the waist though.
Based on Uniqlo UK's description, it is unsanfornised.

*Well apparently, this series of limited edition denims are actually the highly disputed Uniqlo x Pure Blue Japan collection in the U.S.

The uniqlo selvedge must be soaked in water before wearing?
*
Not really. I just soak cos want it to shrink a bit and reduce colour transfer to other fabric. tongue.gif The jeans are pretty soft, can wear straight away.

update: emailed uniqlo europe about fabric for their selvedge. they didnt really answer my questions, but they confirmed that all their jeans including the selvedge lines, are sanforized.

Man... There are many contradictions with their statements regarding sanfornised or unsanfornised. But based on my prior experiences, UNiqlo's denims do feel like safornised fabric.

that's why. different sources say different things. laugh.gif perhaps it is sanforized, but it still shrink a bit, so not advisable to buy a pair which fits snuggly or ngam ngam. sweat.gif

Sanforized denim will have minimal shrinkage..i can say maximum can reduce only half inch on waist and inseam upon machine washed..soaking wont do any difference..

My advice always size down for sanforized denim..it will strecth upon wears..but dont overdo it..as long as you button up all until top button fly..

I picked a pair of N&F chinos in a sort of rusty-brown for RM170. Pretty good deal. I also got a pair of Frankensteins (the original version!) and Left Hand Twills off eBay. The Franks were lightly used but the LHTs were BNWT.

Oh, by the way, if anyone's interested, I'm selling Naked & Famous unbleached selvedge denim as well as Cheese denim (non-selvedge). The N&F was used once in the house, the Cheese denim a couple of times (very minimal wear, no fades). 29" waist for both, PM me for more measurements and details!
