Hi guys,

Just wanna ask, for those who always cuff their jeans, will the fold get torn or damaged?

Cos I used to have a pair of Edwin which I always cuff, and after almost a year, the fold at the cuff koyak. It's like free alteration ady.

Now I just bought a pair of Uniqlo's selvedge slim fit, and wondering will the cuff get damaged like that as well. sweat.gif

Just sharing my uniqlo's slim fit straight jeans (selvedge).

Nothing to shout about, but I'm kinda proud of my first selvedge. Not sure if they're raw though.
Made in Bangladesh, so I guess these are pretty much the low-ends of selvedge jeans. No mention of Kaihara, but likely the fabric is sourced from there.

At day 4 of wear:

Took this pic as reference, to compare after a while.
I gave it a brief cold soak to soften it before the first wear. Dye bleeds pretty badly into the soak water (considering it's really cold water cos it was raining that night). And it shrank a bit, almost an inch in length. Careful if you're wearing white sneakers or white shoe laces, the color will transfer.

They're really light and soft. Even my cheap Edwin (not raw, not selvedge) feels much heavier. Not complaining though, they're really comfy, despite being a slim fit. And really easy to slip into.

Unlike my other uniqlo pants, the zippers are pretty rough. Doesn't go smoothly all the way to the top. Protip: zip your pants first, then button it.
Planning to give it a quick warm soak after 2 weeks, just to shrink it a bit more, and then decide if wanna alter or not.
I'm not really a hardcore jeans enthusiast, so I'm gonna wash it after about a month or so. Gonna post some pics after the proper wash if you guys are interested.

Wouldn't suggest so many soaks, if it's sharp fades you're after. Quite curious about the shrinkage though, are Uniqlo denim unsanforized?
*
I prefer a subtle fade actually, so I dont really mind tongue.gif

I didnt really measure the jeans prior to the soak, but I can confirm that it's shorter after the soak. Cos my heels dont step on the jeans anymore, and I only have to single cuff rather than double cuff to make the jeans rest nicely on my shoes.

You're quite tall, eh? Isn't Uniqlo's inseam something like 33?
*
Local site says 85cm, so that's about 33.5. I'm average height I guess, the bottom is stacked a bit (uncuffed). sweat.gif

Saw some new Uniqlo selvedge at Uniqlo Mid Valley today.
Limited edition, RM249, featuring button fly. Unsure if same material with the previous selvedge, but it feels a bit stiffer. Description in UK website says it's able to fade.

Dropped by Mid Valley's Uniqlo this evening, man... taper of the loose fit selvedge is damn dope! But i chose the button fly slim fit instead tongue.gif
*
Naissss biggrin.gif i love the slim fit cutting, looks slim yet so easy to wear and comfy. My other slim fit jeans want to sit also feel like want to koyak ady.

QUOTE(HateFakers @ Oct 27 2014, 11:15 PM)
Exactly! The tapered opening sits so nicely on the ankle. I'm afraid if I wait for some price reduction sizes are gone by then  cry.gif
*
Knowing uniqlo, that range probably isn't gonna be on sale. Even if it is, the discount isnt that much. Better hurry, i see not as many regular jeans, scared later tak ada size. tongue.gif

About shrinkage, I soaked my regular selvedge in cold water, and it shrink almost 1inch in length. Then later another soak in warm water, about another 1inch shorter, and tighter around the thighs. Not so much on waist.

The uniqlo selvedge must be soaked in water before wearing?
*
Not really. I just soak cos want it to shrink a bit and reduce colour transfer to other fabric. tongue.gif The jeans are pretty soft, can wear straight away.

update: emailed uniqlo europe about fabric for their selvedge. they didnt really answer my questions, but they confirmed that all their jeans including the selvedge lines, are sanforized.

Man... There are many contradictions with their statements regarding sanfornised or unsanfornised. But based on my prior experiences, UNiqlo's denims do feel like safornised fabric.
*
that's why. different sources say different things. laugh.gif perhaps it is sanforized, but it still shrink a bit, so not advisable to buy a pair which fits snuggly or ngam ngam. sweat.gif

Sanforized denim will have minimal shrinkage..i can say maximum can reduce only half inch on waist and inseam upon machine washed..soaking wont do any difference..

My advice always size down for sanforized denim..it will strecth upon wears..but dont overdo it..as long as you button up all until top button fly..
*
aisey. sudah beli size up. sweat.gif luckily slim fit, so i guess it will look a bit relaxed if it's stretched. sweat.gif

Hi guys...... Anyone of you guys here have experience with Uniqlo selvedge denims before? Mind share some thoughts? Tqtq
*
Newbie here. Worn my uniqlo selvedge for 3 months. Washed twice, but color seems to stay. Since still early, only minimal fading on upper thighs. Seems to be sanforized, but it still bleeds pretty badly before the second wash. So careful with white shoes/laces. Minimal shrinkage in waist, about an inch length-wise, after a warm soak.

Comfort wise, no issue. Been wearing it for almost every single day, morning till night, since first purchase. smile.gif

Just got myself a pair recently bu t not yet rockk it. Read online some said need to soak b4 1st wear. But i find no bath tub for me to soak my jeans.
*
no need bath tub. i just soak in a pail. no problem laugh.gif

if the denim is the type that fades easily, then i can see why bath tub is preferable, maybe to minimize the unwanted fade from the folds and creases if u put it in a pail.

but uniqlo one is not the type. i've even washed mine like 5-6 times ady, still look like brand new.

i soak before first wear to soften it a bit and more comfy to wear.

haha..coz i saw it from youtube the guy wore it and sat inside the bathtub.  laugh.gif or maybe he wants his jean to shrink to fit his bottom?

mind to share ur method? or just throw into the washing machine?
*
that method if im not mistaken is to get a better fit. but seems ridiculous. laugh.gif unless my denim memang quality and expensive denim, that is too much effort for me.

for soaking, i just soak the jeans inside out in a pail filled with cold/warm water. warm water will shrink the jeans more and also wash out more dye, so color transfer afterwards isnt so bad. but either way, uniqlo's denim doesnt shrink that much.

for washing, i just throw it inside washing machine and put on gentle cycle laugh.gif be careful not to wash with bright colors. mine already wash 5-6 times and the dye still bleeds.
