I don't know PGP now how already. Got two type, aircon room got attached bathroom. Normal room common bath room. To prevent pervert like bunny taking photo of girls showering in the common bath room, only one gender tenants at that floor. If couples staying at the same floor others will complain. There is one block of post grad units, I never went there but heard is like a normal HDB unit.

not ssay irrelevant lar... 'exceptional talents & achievement' is very broad and vague... it doesnt specify academic or skills.. even helping out local charity will help...

to try and fail is better than not trying... like in exam, wrong answer u get 0 but at least u tried... if u didnt write anything u get straight 0

Hello, I'm currently a STPM student currently waiting for my final results (out on 19th of March) under the new semester system for STPM (first batch of white mice). Fingers crossed, the results will be a 4.0
I'm hoping to apply for both NUS for the architecture and industrial design course.
Anyone can shed some light on how is the competition in these courses? And how is the interview and tests?

Thanks a lot!

Go to 'www.nus.edu.sg' > Admission (Undergraduate) > Contact.

Hi, it's good to know that there are still somebody interested in architecture. Haha.
I am currently a year two architecture student in NUS, i got in with my STPM result two years ago, and i did not have straight As.

I am not that sure about industrial design, but usually architecture will require you to come for an interview and aptitude test, same as any other architecture school. For NUS, almost every year it's about making a 3D model with some cardboard paper on a given topic, and you would have to explain your intention behind the design. Do come prepared, read up on some famous architects and stuff. I am sure you will be able to find more discussion about this online.

As far as competition, I think it's the same as every other course in Singapore. The competition is tough, and the course itself is not easy. "Are you staying over in studio tonight?" is one of the sentence i heard the most while i was in year one. But it is definitely a fun course, I get to do all kinds of interesting stuff like building timber structure and casting concrete, and there are less textbook to memorise and tests to prepare for.

Do read more and prepare for the interview. Show your passion in the field, architecture is not about drawing nice buildings.

It's a little long, but hope it helps!

Thanks for the reply! And no its not long at all.

Phew... I thought nobody is going to reply my post. Never heard of any M'sian doing architecture in NUS. Can I know how big is the intake like for this course? For foreign students?

Hopefully I can get in at least to the interviews... I really enjoy making things and doing crafts. But honestly, my architecture knowledge is really low. Need to prepare for that!!

Everybody says that architecture students have to stay late nights n the studio and rush for crazy datelines. But I'm really excited to do this course.

Although something that is really bugging me is the accreditation. NUS architecture not accredited by LAM, so I can't practice in Malaysia after I graduate right? So I need to take the LAM part I and part II exams?
Do you plan to work in Singapore after you graduate?

sad.gif is she doing graduate studies? Cos PGP gives priority to undergraduate students instead of graduate students. Or, could it be that she did not pay for the deposit to continue her stay on second semester last time?

Try to appeal again. May I know, is she staying out campus now, or anywhere in the campus? smile.gif

Hey, do early applicants stand a better chance to be shortlisted than those who apply few days before the deadline. Will both of them stand an equal chance of being selected or the admission favours those who applies earlier??

Yeah, there's only one GSA block for grad students in PGP. So do you mean that she's applying for next semester stay in PGP? smile.gif

Yup, the incubator bungalows are for NUS Entrepreneurship Society students. Do they have people staying there? I thought they usually hold their meetings or activities in that unit. laugh.gif

Hey there, there isn't such thing as first come first serve for the admission application. biggrin.gif So everyone stands an equal chance on getting selected. By right they shortlist applicants all the way until June. Just be patient and maybe apply for some other uni/scholarship applications at the meantime (if you have alternative choices other than Sg)! wink.gif

NUS is not market, no first come first serve policy. I would have already submit application for medicine for my unborn children then if it works.
