Hello fellow Malaysian applicants! If you have any questions on application details, result anxieties, selection tests/interviews or anything about NUS, feel free to ask us here! There are seniors here to help answering your questions. biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Just a few pointers here:

Scholarships are available for you to apply for in NUS. One of them is the ASEAN Undergraduate scholarship, which you'll be considered for based on your results you've submitted, so you don't need a separate application. If you've applied to NUS early in November or before that, chances are that you might have already been called for an interview sometime in January, even if you have not received your offer for admission yet. If not, the second round of interviews will be sometime in May. Remember this is dependent on their assessment of your application!

A second scholarship is the Singapore scholarship, which I believe have already opened their applications. More information is available here
http://www.scp.gov.sg/content/scp/sc...holarship.html

About application outcomes, the time period it takes for you to receive them will differ! So do not get jittery if your friends have received their offers and you haven't. Chances are that it'll come soon!

Do post any other questions you have. We have a big Malaysian family here at NUS who are always ready to help! smile.gif

Do I need to take TOEFL and GRE if I would like to purse PhD in Computer Science? Both of my Master degrees are taught entirely in English.

Thank you

Hey there,

I'm glad that finally there is a thread for NUS 2014/2015 intake! biggrin.gif

Can I ask that when does NUS will send out the earliest offer?

For I had taken Cambridge A Level and submitted my application around early of December! Wondering if early submission of application will result into early application result? Hahaha.

And another question is want to ask if there are any seniors know the cut-off grade for 'Science' undergrad programme?

I'm hoping to do a Mathematics degree in NUS!

hello,

When will you receive the offer letter depends on NUS, i received it on April, if not mistaken.
You can go to www.nus.edu.sg , then click on admission > undergraduate programmes > indicative grade profile, then you can see the grade profile for the A level. This result is based on the admission in 2013/2014

Hope this will help you
cheers smile.gif

Yes, you have to take, according to the website. If you wish, I can help you ask the people in School of Computing. I am an NUS student. smile.gif

Hello!
As we are a bunch of undergraduate seniors here to facilitate the application process of the Pre-U grads, we aren't sure about the exact details about PhD. However, you may refer to the link http://www.comp.nus.edu.sg/graduates/m_application.html

Further enquiries can drop an e-mail to NUS School of Computing where the contact details can be found here:
http://www.comp.nus.edu.sg/home/contactus.html

Thank you for your question and I hope this helps!

Hey there!

Do you mind if I ask what course are you taking and your A Level/ STPM results? tongue.gif

The thing with the indicative grade profile on the webpage is for the Singapore-Cambridge A Level, but I took the CIE Cambridge A Level instead! So I guess I can't make a comparison over there sad.gif

It would be great if there's any current Malaysian NUS students see this thread, please drop by and share the results and course they are taking!

Will be much appreciated! biggrin.gif

Ahh I see! My results are 3A* 1A, missing an A* sad.gif

Btw did you/ or anyone else submit the statement of results of A2 (which shows the percentile of each subject) in the application?
Cause I only submitted my certificate of A2 results (which only shows the A* and A).

Hi there!

I previously applied with my statement of results, but I do not believe that it is compulsory if you already have the certificates. Try not to worry about a missing A*. We encourage you to apply and see how it turns out biggrin.gif

Thanks for summoning me bro! sweat.gif

I don't know about the School of Computing, but for the Faculty of Engineering, we do not need to have TOEFL and GRE scores when we apply for admission. However, once we enroll as a Ph.D candidate, we are required to sit for an English test, called the Diagnostic English Test. This simple test is to gauge our standard of academic English writing.

You can always e-mail the person-in-charge of admission for the School of Computing and make an inquiry. icon_rolleyes.gif

Hey!

Actually I submitted my application already! Hahaha.

Cause I just saw in the application supporting document checklist, it stated there 'National Level High School Examination Result Slip'. So I was wondering if I have submitted the wrong thing? Nevertheless, my application status is now processing. So i guess it would be alright? If there's a problem, they should have told me by then already right?

Another reason that I only submitted my certificate but not statement of results is that I actually my A*s weren't all very strong sweat.gif So they won't know my percentiles but only the grades hahaha.

At first I also thought GRE is compulsory, as it is written in the Faculty of Engineering Ph.D admission website. Mana tau tak payah wohh. So it is better to check with the School lahh to confirm.

I remember GRE tu tak murah kalo nak ambil. sweat.gif

Noted with thanks notworthy.gif . Perhaps I should opt for Network security areas in Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in your current faculty. brows.gif brows.gif brows.gif

You can e-mail some of the Professors and see if they have any openings for a Ph.D candidate. This is how I found my boss in NUS. brows.gif brows.gif

Tell them your area of interest and see if they are willing to take you in. brows.gif brows.gif

Let me summon another NUS Ph.D student, exquisite_markas.

Yea. Your application will be stronger if you already have a potential supervisor. Some more during the interview, the interviewers will ask u whether you sudah contact you punya supervisor.

Tak payah draft letter panjang2 bro. A few lines to intro yourself and your intentions, a few lines to describe you punya research interests, and finally ask him if he is looking for Ph.D students. Senang je bro. Lepas tu tunggu reply. biggrin.gif
