feels like my salary is considered low in Lowyat standard, when we have IT people who receive RM4-5k salary after 1 year working experience

First job fresh grad 2.4k SGD, jump to 2.8k SGD, jump to 4k, now 4.2k, with 5 years exp, i think still below market

i have been serving this line for 6 years, and since last years already facing stiff competition as i am selling european product. most of my customer are from palm oil processing downstream and even few of the biggest player has much less inquiries compared to past.

which sector are your client come from whom you majorly handling now?

Lol this is dam low. Is 5-6k the average for a 28yr old degree holder engineer in SG?

Oh ya, don't say 1SGD=3MYR, u earn n live/spend in SG n u only save/bring back RM.

rm7k is their basic..but include allowance around 9k..seems to be pretty low..my sister whom in audit field...senior mnager position..already work around 7 year...but already reach more than 10k...i guess engineering field in Mlysia is really low paid...of coz couldnt compare with those in OnG...

4 yr + 5.5 yr =9.5 yrs of experience but still executive? What is the requirement for next level? Salary wise seems okay, but IR ady?

Oh corrected and edited. Its 5 + 5.5 years - it is a little above average in my industry.

I was senior but my title in this company is now just engineer. And there are senior titles in my company.... but I am happy to be demoted. The last increment for promotion from Junior to Senior was great. So I don't mind another promotion.

I cannot be IR cuz I do not practice what I study. I did not even register IEM. I do not care.

Your salary already gives you the right for not to care about what IR IEM thing. If is me I don't care as well lol.

not every company simply uses the word manager
my comp has 2000+ executives (20 managers only with an actual "manager" title)
senior engineers manage junior engineers...
team lead manages senior engineers...
Managers manages team leads...
some managers manages managers...

actually, it's spot on.

SG don't really pay their engineers well compared to those in banking and finance..


and no, it's not that low. 4k sgd goes a long way.. kopitiam only 3-5sgd per meal, mrt only 1-2sgd return.

Only need to consider the rental, ~1k sgd. can easily save up to 2k sgd a month. Doubt it that living in kl, you are able to save 3k ringgit.. and conversion is 6k ringgit, no need to even compare...

Nope. Used to earn 10+ k sgd when I was that age, that time the industry is good, working hour is quite long though.

Industry slow down now, chose to slow down the career too and focus on other things. Still working for SG, don't draw as much but spend 2/3 of the month in MY working at home. You can say this is a better example of working in SG, spending in MY, where the 1 sgd = 3 myr is applicable.

Yup engineer is no where near finance people or other profession. Have a friend at similar age but earning 2-3 time as much doing banking and working less hour.
