QUOTE(4896la @ Jan 11 2014, 12:13 PM) Sunway is the top 5 college and they say u will get higher pay if grad from sunway... They are counselors from sunway...== And you actually believe them? One of my ex's lecturer told them that they will be expecting 5 figure income after going into audit firm. That was 10 years ago in a CAT class. Everyone believed him. But 10 years on is that really the case? |

When you see someone making more than you thinkif you wanna troll, please go back to /k. thank you. Doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Anyway what's the point of trolling here? Hoping to get uhs and awes from people who you only know via nicknames? Where's the kick in that. |

QUOTE(sendo7 @ Sep 4 2014, 05:31 PM) You are such an ordinary designer I have seen, not saying u posting fake info but, most of my graphic designers friends who has more than 4 years experience only get paid around 3-3.5k and they always need to work overtime without any extra allowance nor pay. Pity for them if someone is posting their paydon't assume it is fake just because you've never seen it. my freshies get 5k and 13k after 3 years... O&G i can say so because they report to me... believe it or not... |

QUOTE(HawkreiN @ Sep 14 2014, 10:14 AM) Mostly agree. yeap... adjustments are market based studies done by HR and changes reflected in your payslip...From observing my graduating class, most fresh grads (not all of course) do not aim for higher paying jobs. Self-selection by fresh graduates happens very often and they end up going for conventional jobs or jobs they were brainwashed into. Point is, not all go for those top jobs and programmes. Have you seen this among your university coursemates? True that performance in academics does not equate to performance in the workplace. In my opinion, consistency is key and top performers usually have that in common. It would take a lot to lose that drive which is why they remain top performers in the workplace. To my knowledge, an increment is merit-based, such as a progression to the next level but not necessarily a promotion. An adjustment is not merit-based, and is usually given either to match market inflation or the pay scale of competitors. As such, some can indeed get both. Maybe someone in the HR practice can correct me if I'm wrong! some companies does adjustment when they feel not competitive... sometimes adjustments can be negative... implementation could be during increment or NOT during increment... increments are merit based... often yearly I've got 4 adjustments so far and 3 of it during my increments (merit based) sometimes almost 40% difference |

QUOTE(~~5ive~~ @ Nov 5 2014, 02:21 PM) Could i ask here usually around how much % you will get from promotion? really depends on the size of the company/departmentLets say from junior > senior > supervisor > assistant manager > manager. Within same company of course, not from jumping ship with promotion. Anyone would like to share here? Please mention from which position promoted to which position, industry and perhaps year of exp in current company? Thanks your question is too wide my industry... O&G engineers get 10-18k... (5-8 years exp) senior engineers 18-24k... (8-12 years exp) team leads (3-5 reportees) 24-30k... (12-15 years exp) managers (10-20 reportees) 30-40k (15-30 years exp) the list goes on retail industry... you could go from Junior exec to manager in like 3-5 years but does a retail manager make 10k? or more? so how do you gauge? |

QUOTE(joefrezzo @ Nov 11 2014, 12:14 PM) well... there is no snr manager post in my comp...managers by actual title are actually leading a group of teams.... can consist anywhere between 50-150 engineers they earn more than double what i get contrary to that.... in our other business sections, the fresh grads are called territory managers but are really junior execs... but these guys do front line sales... so maybe the title is needed... |

good that higher paid people are coming clear with their pay.
Its a bigger minority than actually perceived. So people, start asking for more! summary of my trip to US 1. Subway lady drives new Accord 2. Security guard in my temporary apartment gets paid USD30k per annum (24yo) in the 90s they were only paid 10-15k PA Companies in Malaysia didnt consider inflation! |

QUOTE(mat2020 @ Apr 24 2015, 10:03 PM) "The port offers a minimum gross annual salary of RM48,000 for fresh grads with medical coverage. The company also extends and annual increment of 5% to 20% based on performance. Additionally, over 40 different employee benefits are provided by Westports including 2-months interest-free salary advance. Loans are also provided for housing, vehicles and computers" Shipping has always been very generous...Guys, is it worth to work at westports? i'll say go for it... unless you get other Fortune Global 500 companies that pays better or do your own |

QUOTE(carrozaria @ May 26 2015, 03:28 PM) so i supposed u will be based in malaysia, the only merit is u gaining a 3 month experience oversea's, then for the present market the salary for fresh grade (degree holder) should be within the range of RM2250 to RM2500 (maybe).... this is for the basic salary. unless u have obtained a degree and have (from april 2013 to date) experience, it will be different story. dont settle for mediocre salaryhere if i get ur situation right u have just graduated.... since they are based there... they should pay you what you deserve... ask how much a typical person would be paid there... then work from there... it could be 3k Euro and they might be happy to settle with 2k Euro... if you say 2.5k RM thats like 650Euro... come on... don't settle for 2nd best |
