Even more Bars!
![]() ![]() ![]() And guess what? I'm still top at 436 useless posts!!!!!! Wooooo!!!! Ok....... Back to serious discussion..... (*snicker*) The deciding song that made you pick up the guitar in the first place....... Mine was *bows head in shame* Wonderwall by Oasis....... That's the very first song that made me wanted to play guitar....... But first song that I wanted to solo? Ozzy Osbourne - No More Tears. Still hearld as my favorite solo of all time. woohoo ...new thread....
well the very first song that make me wanna pick up the guitar is Hotel California by the Eagles or is it Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin ... but that time never really got a guitar yet....so i waited like another 5 years before i got a guitar.... nowadays the one that motivates me to practise are guitarist like Malmsteen, Michael Angelo, COB....never fails to give me the urge to start practising and keep on playing.... Yeah...... Just when I think I'm good enough, I listen to Randy Rhodes, Van Halen, Al DiMeola, Jimi Hendrix........ that just kicks me in the ass and makes me want to play better.

just woke up and my eyes are still blurry.. dun remember my first song, but it was from Butterfingers.. started me playing power chords .. then later on metallica made me learn more difficult guitar riffs.. after that, heard RHCP n got me into buying an electric n start practising Had a REALllLyyY wierd dream last nite.. b4 that one, i dreamt about sitting in a car , n then there was a hand touching my neck.. then i woke up takut2 :S .. must have been a nightmare. The wierd one, i dreamt that there was a meeting between all the GuitarPhreaks.. n blacktrix was telling ppl the prices of stuff he'll be bringing back from US for us.. aannddd,,, Blacktrix was a girl ! @#@$ damn wierd man.. maybe reading reviews about the Crybaby 535Q all day n looking at the cheap prices in the US made me have that dream.. |

If you grew up with Full House like I did (I had a HUGE crush on Jodie Sweetin when I was MUCH younger)....... you'll find this EXTREMLY hilarious!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Illest M'fer in a cardigan sweater!!!! http://music.ign.com/articles/712/712812p1.html |

Right now playing back some old Metallica favorites......... Enter Sandman, Master of Puppets, Seek & Destroy, Memory Remains........ stuff like that.....
Also was playing Creed's My Sacrifice with the stupid DADADD tuning....... but sounds good......... ADDITIONAL POST: Well guys, it looks like the 357 Customs thing is officially a scam. Luckily I was still able to get my T-Shirts out of the deal. What ever is happening now is between 357 Customs and Zakk's management...... apparently some big lawsuit thing..... So dammit.......... will have to save up for that Zakk Wylde guitar next year! No chance of me bringing it back from US...... No More Funds!!!!! I only have like, 300 USD for spending cash, so I can't bring back any guitars back home. My Only hope is for Swee Lee to still have that last Camo Epi for sale next year! Metallica ey?.. just reminded me. need to learn the solo's b4 Uni starts
so the 357 offer was a scam? Thats a very high profile scami might say.. since it onvolves 357 n Zakk's side. wonder why they didnt think it all out b4 doing the offer, like stocking up guitars etc... well. guess if theres a lawsuit, should last a few years.. been playing around with the wah on my gfx-8.. well.. makes me feel like getting a Pedal wauwahuwahuwah. btw, the RHCP stadium arcadium n dani california distortion is using fuzz right? managed to get a close sound with fuzz , but wanna double check with u guys Relax Criptonox89, there'll always be time to play ur guitar |

Well, no use beating around the bush then.
I'll be going to Guitar Center in LA to buy an Epiphone Bullseye Les Paul IF it costs 799 USD (That's the retail price I see most shops have).... Will probably get the Coffin Case Body Bag to go along with it so I can Hand Carry it on board the plane...... then add stickers and some "minor" damage to show that it's a played guitar and don't have to pay taxes Was planning to get another coffin case like what I have...... but then the weight is just TOO DAMN MUCH!!!!! So will go for a softcase and bring it back. And IF ever 357 Customs send me the guitar, at least I have a camo Les Paul as well!!!! |

blacktrix, since you're buying a guitar in california.
there should be sales tax of 7-8% added on. |

Eep.... Forgot about the Sales Tax...... will see how then loh..... hopefully parents can chip in a bit! hahahaha.....
But yeah, I've been talking to some people and they say that safest route, if you bring a soft case instead of a hard case, so I'll need a pretty good soft case gig bag...... Coffin was the first to come in mind....... and Led_zep, I'm not getting the Camo Les Paul and going for the original Epiphone Bullseye instead....... JUST incase the Camo DOES start shipping! |

Crap. Found out that the Randall amp costs around 500USD..... compared to the 799USD Les Paul!!!!
But the Randall is going to be a b**** to carry home........... not to mention having it modified for our electric current....... So.... it's back to the Les Paul....... hopefully will be able to bring it back from Singapore instead. |

You can always buy a banjo...
If you want a stompbox, get one of those cheap ones that are not available here... or one of those expensive 'boo-teek' pedals. |

if thats so, at least he can start off with a squier tele first. with blacktrix, a squier tele would probably be bought with loose change.
your SECOND option is to bring in a gibson les paul???!!!! wtf man, that should be your first option if u could afford!!!!! everyone, we really do need to rob blacktrix one day. jk |

Yeah. A Les Paul Menace I meant. And technically, my first guitar SHOULD be a telecaster. I traded it for a Strat instead.......
And to me, I would take an Epi Zakk over the Gibson Menace...... but hey..... that's just me...... I will see what happens when the time comes....... I want to get a Les Paul with some binding at least!!! |

490 and 498 gibson pickups arent that great.
but of cos low end gibson anyday, the menace isnt that low end. low end is the melody maker or even the les paul special. now the pickups i'm interested in are the seymour duncan actives that mustaine is using. |

what gig is that? lighting and stage was really weird.
well besides working on the vocals and drums, the whole band has to work on stage presence and crowd interaction. ask sifu led zep for more lessons. |

if u're going to do gigs often, u need to get used to very bright lighting especially big gigs. try to get used to it asap. the crowd wouldnt like to see a guitarist trying hard to keep his eyes open(and with a funny 'orgasmic' facial expression) yet standing still. hehe. u can check out how led zep(eong xien) poses in his friendster!!! (led zep: dont get mad. helping u promote ur band). hehe. or u could check mine out too(in my sig)... and watch the shameless self promo vid. rotfl
practiced for 4 hours prior to the gig???!!! wow, u guys did well!!! no soundcheck is not an excuse. i made eong xien miss his soundcheck and he still did well |

Did you realize somebody screamed "One more time please" at the end of the song? ah thanks, i think i make a better rhythm than lead guitarist. but i shall not give up practicing solos!~ ah, equipment? i was using a randall tube combo (not sure about the model though, and i think it's tube) through my yamaha + SH-10s. i like the trebly sound of the SH-10. yeah i realised, and we actually contemplated on playing it again, but we were scared that the organizers would slaughter us hahahaha! i wasn't wearing my glasses at that time, but my friend told me a few people stood up clapping, some sort of standing ovation i guess! hehe. QUOTE(C_w_sam @ Jun 21 2006, 10:33 PM) yeah it was abit off, my lead guitarist was feeling emo at that time because his clean sound during nothing else matters was distorted. turn out he plugged his GFX-5 into an overdriven amp LOL. actually during the solo, my lead guitarist and i was supposed to lean on each other's back (to make it more cun la) but he was too emo, he forgot LOL!oh btw, we all are cousins. QUOTE(blacktrix @ Jun 23 2006, 03:28 PM) Well, decided that my first choice will be the Zakk Wylde Epi...... Second choice, if I still have the cash for it, a Gibson Menace........ will have to downgrade both the pick-ups though........... Fixed for greater justice if you're putting EMGs. and no..... I will still buy it in Malaysia..... |

If it's anything like the Distortion +, it should give you a more Randy Rhoads sound. Never pay much attention to distortion pedals anyway. So take my comments lightly. |

spider sense tingling! MxR in discussion!
the double shot is one heavy pedal and if it's too heavy, you can drop to a smooth overdrive for that bluesey tone... having a Stop Over in Hong Kong now. Whoops. Boarding time! smell you all later! |

nah i dont use fast frets on the strings or anything.if rosewood, just get some lemonoil conditioner or similiar. for my maple fretboard tele, i just wrap around the strings and run down a few times. same for the fretboard itself , just wipe with cloth.
and no , don't scrape your fretboard, that's much too violent... This post has been edited by nick_drake: Jun 26 2006, 06:46 PM |

the shine stays for a week or so. after that u can still see that the fretboard is oily. i use it everytime i change my strings. the oil stays for quite some time. i normally apply it, then leave it for a while.. then qipe of the excess oil.

i used to use it a long time ago and still have it with at least 90% unused. it makes the strings feel completely different. |

yea considering ernie ball is already slippery enough, the fast fret on it makes the strings feel worse.

damn thewhacker
well back with my ernie ball strings, and also GHS graphitall. now i dont need to use messy pencil lead that leaves marks everywhere got it for RM14, pretty decent price. ![]() Invented by Rene' Martinez and now available in white non-staining formula. GraphitAll® is a simple but powerful gel-like lubricant. It helps in tuning and maintaining of all stringed instruments. It works well with metal to metal contact with tremolo instruments, too! René first experimented with this lubricant with shop customers before he went on the road. It worked great! The real test was to come with his work with Stevie Ray Vaughan; as many times as he used his tremolo, this was the true test for his invention. It helped Stevie's guitar stay in tune many, many times over. It also helped in the prevention of breaking strings prematurely. René was onto something! He has been using GraphitAll® now for over 25 years. In simple terms, IT WORKS! Due to its powerful anti-friction properties, a little bit goes a long way. The bottle will last a long time and more than pays for itself from 1.) not having to take your instrument to a repair shop and 2.) not breaking as many strings. Your guitar will thank you. Help from a tiny bottle, a powerful lubricant, and René's 25 years of experience. This post has been edited by Everdying: Jun 27 2006, 07:18 PM |

I like Ernie Ball Slinkies because they tend to sound brighter and more transparent to my ears but I just can't stand it when it turns black as quick as an hour! I've read that there're strings that not only sound good but also withstand rust for a long period but they're not available here. |

man i got this problem...
i've been trying to nail ETB for a long time now, and i am still stuck at 61 bpm. the reason? for some weird cause i seem to play bloody lazy on it, make stupid mistakes....miss the string, miss the note, not comfortable playing....etc..e.tc but when i play at 70+ bpm and 80+ bpm i play a lot better and more comforable, mistakes are there but not stupid ones.........and it feels like i am actaully practicing this has been bugging me, i dont know to stick to 61 bpm and slowly work my way up or put it at 70 and slowly work me way from there |

my fav sounding strings were fender nickel coated.
but they break damn fast, so i dont use them. they had a real warm sound. but i've been using ernie balls for a long time anyway, nice compromise. and turning black and rusting are completely different. anyway, even if you play for fun you should be changing strings at least once a month |

In order to slow down the process I have to clean it everyday... it doesn't happen when I use D'Addarios. Anyway I usually change my strings once every month. Sometimes 3 weeks +. i need some advice on the marshall powerbrake.
Currently i am using an EXEF load box (non adjustable) to suck some power away (the band is complaining about loudness... in terms of loudness i think it's not even halved. Would the marshall powerbrake be able to reduce the loudness of an amp by half or more? |

I still do suffer from it, but it aint so bad. I think its cos our fingers aint accustomed to the slow tempo, or more likely its because we are just too darn lazy to practice more |

i am trying out daddario stainless steel strings, regular 10s.. its been a week.. my personal opinion is that its juz as similar with the nickel wound adaddrio regular 10s..
but the argument is this.. the bottom 3 strings which is not wounded is still the same.. even the top 3 strings last.. the bottom doesnt.. so wuts the point of making it last? still gonna change it once a month of maybe less.. any opinion? Recording is a very good way to gauge how well you play to the tempto, just remember to be brutal to yourself when judging, even a slight timing mistake counts. You're the only judge here and if you let yourself go with simple mistakes, nobody else will pinpoint if for you. |

QUOTE(sean392 @ Jun 29 2006, 01:22 AM) it does i suppose.. instinct timing. it works for me.if i play in my band, my timing is based on the drumbeats (i think all guitarists that play in bands should know this that's how we guitarists get through small gigs where we aren't provided with stage amps (means we can't hear each other's playing). all band guitarists, agree with me? |

Me too.
But yeah, if the drummer isn't playing on a certain part, I would usually tap my foot and headbang a little to keep the timing. I realize that at times your foottapping would be synced to the movement of your picking hand. So the tapping is gonna be confusing if you play some complex rhythm, hence the headbanging. in my opinion, playing to tracks can be easier than playing with a live band.
Here's my opinion from a bassist point of view. Instead of just you alone practicing on a metronome, bring a metronome along when you guys jam. Very often i have seen brilliant guitarists who suck when they play in a band. It's not because they suck, but if the rhythm section doesnt groove properly, then it's usually not the guitarists fault. Usually timing and groove are jobs of the drummer and bassist. So if you realise the band is still abit here and there with the tempo, there is a 90% chance that its a problem with the bassist and drummer. And once the tempo is off, you can be the best guitarist in the world but things just don't fit anymore. But dont use this as an excuse to hantam your bassist and drummer QUOTE(led_zep_freak @ Jun 28 2006, 06:34 PM) Me too. headbanging and foot tapping would work as well. But I've seen some sesat people who headbang to a totally different tempo than what the drummer is playing But yeah, if the drummer isn't playing on a certain part, I would usually tap my foot and headbang a little to keep the timing. I realize that at times your foottapping would be synced to the movement of your picking hand. So the tapping is gonna be confusing if you play some complex rhythm, hence the headbanging. So remember; love your bassist and drummer and they will love you back.....Wait, that sounds sooo wrong... This post has been edited by Bassix: Jun 29 2006, 04:41 AM |

well bassist and drummers go together(ok, it sounds wrong). in my former band, if the band practices 3 times a week, the bassist and drummer will spend another extra 2 days just the both of them to practice and nail things down tight.

QUOTE(led_zep_freak @ Jun 29 2006, 01:34 AM) Me too. ah foot tapping! i almost always do that when playing powerchords in a band to keep a certain tempo to myself. but it's not forced, it comes naturally lol without me realising it. finding a drummer is easy.
whether hes free or not is the question. cos usually he'll be tied to quite a few other bands. finding a vocalist WITH image, now thats hard. oh... SLAYER and uhh iron maiden might be coming to singapore end of this yr. This post has been edited by Everdying: Jun 29 2006, 02:17 PM |

QUOTE(hydrogen @ Jul 2 2006, 04:10 PM) LedZep, cool links. thanks. Hope you enjoyed it. watch this my roommate's friends, performing at KLPAC. Both from Taiping. Band name: Silent Scenery, performing their own song. The song sounds alright I guess, still loading. Anyway I think they would look better with short hair lol, no offence. QUOTE(nerd @ Jul 2 2006, 07:55 PM) dude, that seems like a great gig! No no, the sound is alright, it's not THAT bad. The format conversion and Youtube screwed it up lol! |

yesterday went to CK, JS, Bentley, Chambers and the Yamaha shop at kl plaza..
went to JS first, n Jaya Satriani was demoing the line6 head, really cool amp head, with all the effects etc. theyve got almost all the new ZOOM models, the G7.1(dun really remember which model exactly, but i think its this one) was going for 1300~ Then went to JS, tested the Vox Wah there.. i didnt like the distortion on the pedal.. the 3 wah sttings; Mo, Lo, n CBY way models were almost the same. the other two were a bit different. i tried a few settings with the Q n diff models then went off to Bentley. the price was listed as rm600 n after discount rm500, Last model etc etc.. At Bentley, my fren tested 2 ibanez guitars, i think one of them was the SZ n the other one looks abit like a les paul. the SZ neck was quite nice, easy access to higher frets bcos of the set neck n the string was thru the body. nice long sustain. Then i tested out the 535Q Chrome since they didnt have the normal 535Q's in stock.. All i can say bout the pedal is, i like it At Yamaha , tested the Epiphone LP, rm2300 through a Yamaha stack. really nice n chunky sound At Chambers, tested the Yamaha AES through a Cube 60. to me, i felt that the AES sound was a bit thin. the fretboard finishing was a bit bad i think.. but maybe i was spoiled by the LP i tested at Yamaha After Chambers went home but the stupid Summit traffic light jam kept me waiting another 45 minutes to reach home. btw, i went to 7 Eleven on the way back, and noticed they were selling these Prepaid Mastercards from Am Bank |

Prepaid debit cards, eh? That's a pretty good idea. Just check to see if you can use it online. I've had some trouble before with regular credit cards.

hey guys, how do you power several stompboxes at once? i remember someone asking about this once but i can't seem to find the thread. I don't wanna use batteries as it is troublesome and i don't think using several PSU is easy too. So is there anyway to just use one PSU to power up several stomp box?

The Yamaha stack was cool man.. my fren was the first one to test the guitar since he was shopping for one, he was playing on the Lead channel at first. then he wanted to switch to clean.. so, he pressed the Clean button on the head.. then suddenly, the master volume knob start turning by itself like it was possessed. shortly after that, the chinese guy came n explained to us. we were all like.. OOoooooOoOoo.. had a good laugh i guess they can put like a candid camera for that amp. n see what ppl(who dont know the amp) do |

there arent any epi LP with maple caps.
basically all flame tops you see are veneers. and the regular sunbursts are alder caps. but now notice how PRS are doing veneers and making it sound classy? |

Hmm, so what's the benefit of using these pre-paid credit cards? You still got to have money first before you can actually use one. On the other hand, with a standard credit card, you don't even need to have money first, and after you bought something, you can take your time to pay it back, as long as you pay the minimal amount every month (with interest of course, still better than paying one short)
For online transactions, I never had any problems with paypal or credit cards (ordered some PS2 games from Play-Asia before) |

would be usefull for kids like me who dont fulfill the requirements for a credit card application. however, will need to check their charges on transactions. since they dont get the interest from installments.

QUOTE(led_zep_freak @ Jul 4 2006, 05:16 PM) Heh what I was trying to say is that they won't understand why we need to have different types of effects and pedals. i understand why of course... i was just saying that other's won't since all strats look the same. At least pedals look different right?Anyway why not? One with a 60s neck, one with a humbucker, one with a vintage 60s pickups, one with hotrails etc etc.... the list is endless. |

Explain like this:
"Even you bought 10 handbag, the purpose still the same even different brand or material. Carrying thing like make-up, small mirror etc but if I buy 10 guitar or its gadget will produce different tone & sound" |

Yeah especially the Boss ones And you boys are all preaching to the choir. We'd all have multiple instruments of the same model and 15 reserve pedals for each type and have a nice Vox modelling amp, as well as each of the amps that Vox models in front of us, and 1763 different picks if we could. how come you know me so well.. we didn't even meet !
but i don't want 1,763 picks. everytime you sit on your couch couch, you have to clench your butt, to avoid ... hummm... "brokeback" accidents... |

A guitar ain't a guitar without chips and wear and tear.
Example: ![]() The Tele on the left isn't a Tele. It's a slab of wood with 6 strings. The Esquire on the right is an absolutely stonkingly good piece of work. She's got character and a voice. She's a joy to play. |

its lyn prob.
cos there is no prob loading other sites. anyway, i have very strong reason to suspect the fake chinese les pauls have arrived in malaysia. check this out. http://members.lelong.com.my/Auc/List/Deta...oductID=3406685 he had a quick buy now of RM2200 which i put in, but of cos it wasnt approved. i called twice and sms once to ask for the serial number, both times excuse of being outside and no reply. the description also doesnt match the pic. plus a search of ebay shows this is the latest fake les paul to be produced. how to check? search for gibson les paul, and sort by price: lowest first. The best bet is to check the guitar with your own eyes and hands if you're planning to buy online. Since the seller's loaction is at Setapak/KL, i don't think its a problem for you two to meet up. well the problem is.
yesterday afternoon we've already set a meeting at 5pm later today at wangsa maju. but as of my last sms to request for the serial number last nite, there has been no reply. i've called couple times today also to confirm the meet, no answer. for those that dont know, gibson serial number tells you exactly what model and color the guitar is. apart from of cos the date, day of production, which factory it came from. and i've heard enough stories of les pauls from woh fatt not being anywhere near 100%. QUOTE(Everdying @ Jul 7 2006, 02:41 PM) well the problem is. Something is not right about him, but always give the benefit of the doubt ... maybe he got no credit or not free at that time. yesterday afternoon we've already set a meeting at 5pm later today at wangsa maju. but as of my last sms to request for the serial number last nite, there has been no reply. i've called couple times today also to confirm the meet, no answer. for those that dont know, gibson serial number tells you exactly what model and color the guitar is. apart from of cos the date, day of production, which factory it came from. and i've heard enough stories of les pauls from woh fatt not being anywhere near 100%. Yea, the serial number is very important to tell if its a fake or real. That's why its always good to check the guitar with your own eyes and hands before actually buying it, regardless online or from the shop. Something tells me , from the link you gave .... that the Les Paul is made in China guitar .... his description also doesnt match the pic at all. |

QUOTE(blacktrix @ Jul 9 2006, 11:44 AM) hey guys, checking in from LA. My flight is at 1:55 am.... and it's now 8:36pm on a Saturday. Should be back on Monday Kl time. Sorry led Zep, but they only had the fab distortion for sale in guitar Center, and it was the last one too. Even tried Sam Ash which was across the Street. sorry again. Got cool pics of Zakk's hand (and beer) prints on the rock Walk. And as for the guitar... Well.... i didn't get it. I got a 60 gig iPod instead... figured i already have a les Paul and need an ipod even more... Sorry guys... no Robbing my Place! cya When I'm in Hong Kong! You can get an Ipod anywhere but not a ZW LP everywhere. |

is an iPod cheaper in US compared to m'sia or s'pore ?
i'd have chosen the LP (not necessarily a ZW, "just" a custom LP would have been enough) anytime over an iPod, but well... it isn't exactly the same price range either. And it might be a hassle to carry around, etc.. knowing blacktrix and his slight madness about ZW, i'm sure he weighted the decision very very carefully |

Tonight there's alot of gigs everywhere in KL, they are playing before the World Cup Finals kick off. and everywhere is jam like mad, so travel if you have to. |

QUOTE(sean392 @ Jul 9 2006, 03:04 PM) nice i was actually talking about gibson lespaul with 60's neck eh i've yet to play with proper lespaul neck dimensions [sadly] cuz lespaul classics supposed to have a 60's slim taper neck but i played with the newer [2005 MIC] lespaul classics it feels exactly like a 50's neck cuz its really rounded and fat .... lol but my lp classic [2001 MIK] has a really slim neck =/ so im guessing epi really tembak the neck dimensions only -.-ll the epiphone LP necks are nowhere near as thick as a 50s gibson LP neck. as for slim necks, the most comfortable neck would be the '61 reissue gibson SG |

yea gibson necks in general only two different ones.
50s or 60s, but limited to the LPs. my 70s SG has a completely different neck to the SG standard or even the '61 Reissue SG, its narrower but thicker. '61 Reissue SG has the slimmest neck of all SGs, with its wide fingerboard it makes it very fast and comfortable. ok, i've decided i'm going to *try* to like strats again. so i'm thinking of getting a cheap one to begin my rehabilitation. either the samick malibu mb-1 or the SX ash strat are my cheap options for RM500 or less. mb-1 has some nice things going for it, duncan designed pickups, angled headstock, 3-a-side grovers (yea cant get out of my gibson mindset yet). but the SX has an ash body, yummy so does anyone have either of them? at the other end of the price spectrum, i would go for the warmoth/stewmac option and just do a custom one, cept that would come up to easily almost RM3k or more, so i dont think so, cos at that price another gibson is better and no, do not suggest squier cos to me the samick and SX are better quality. and i feel the warmoth quality is easily better than some fenders out there. Ah such trickery...
Deceive us to think you're bowing to Steve Jobs and then suddenly turning around to surprise us. You cunning one.... I can't see the hairline crack, and if it's not noticable, just leave it. If it's opening up, do what Erlewine would do and seep some thin cyano in. And get fuzzy dice knobs, or metal skulls. Oh, edited to add: Congrats! considering the 357 customs offer... you're gonna have two epiphone ZW LP soon, aren't you ? i wouldn't fix a hairline crack... maybe repolish it to make sure the polish covers the wood everywhere, if you're really a fanatic ? And fjooking welcome back, dude ! |

Hehehehe...... Thanks everyone......
Forgot to mention...... I got a Monster Cable gold plated jack, 2 sets of ZW Boomers and a Levy Leather strap to go with it, although I might buy another Leather strap (probably the Planet Waves one) because I find the Levy too short now! Also got the new Issue of Guitar World with Slayer and Zakk on the cover. If anyone read it already, now I want an Este-shlong guitar!!!! Hahahaha..... But US was a blast man. Walt Disney World was FREAKIN' AWSOME!!!! A whole week of nothing but play..... Wake up about 7 in the morning, sleep at 1am...... Just going to the parks and PLAY!!! I probably only saw 65% of what WDW had to offer.....even though we had a week there. Totally enjoyable. And for all you guitar fanatics, make sure you head down to the Walt Disney World MGM Studios park to ride Rockin' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith!! Scary as hell, but totally freakin' fun!!! Wouldn't do it again though. The first laugh literally snaped my head back! Also, will be selling off the EMG-Hz pick-ups from the Epiphone to buy the EMG-ZW set. Will be letting go for RM400 for the set..... the guy in guitar center quoted me a set of EMG-HZs at USD150 a set, so will be selling it off a little cheaper, even though it's literally brand new. Will sell it as soon as I swap in new EMG-ZWs by the end of next month. If anyone interested in buying my EMG-Hz Passives, please PM me. Will post a proper sell page as soon as the pick-ups are removed. EDIT: Since this is the first post of Page 22, will repost the picture again for ALL too see!! Hahahahaa..... Man, Did I get you guys good!!!!
Monster cable is 35.90 USD..... You do the math. And yes, I'm writing a review for it tonight when I get to play with it more. So far, it has a much treble like tone compared to my LP-100..... kinda like the Truckster..... But once the distortion is cranked up...... this baby is smooth!!!!! Sustain is incredible, although it could use a little more power...... say hello to Active EMGs next month...... Test session at Bentley's will be conducted once the new pick-ups are in..... |

hmm....why not u try to put another pickup? such as seymour duncan or else....since u've a pair of EMG's on ur les paul-100... EDIT: this thread is getting hot again!! This post has been edited by Criptonox89: Jul 11 2006, 03:42 PM |

I know....... but I'm an EMG man like I am a Les Paul man...... It's just wired into my system. However, I might get a seymore duncan Jazz humbucker for one of my Strat-copys.

haha....when i recall it....it's quite weird while the seymour duncan is in the les paul.....normally EMG would be with the les paul and seymour duncan would be with fender, squire mostly.....

Sorry man...... Getting the 81 and 85 in the set....... plus I get another Zakk Wylde pick! hahaahahaha......
Will go Woh Fatt on maybe a Thursday or a Friday. Oh yeah....... I forgot to talk about Guitar Hero!!! The game is even MORE awsome with the SG Guitar Controller! If anyone wants pics of the controller, let me know. Like those ah Lian girls in Sungai Wang says..... It's damn cute lah wei! It's soooooo tiny compared to a real guitar and it's freakin' light..... so have to get used to it.... But many of the songs perform extremly well with the guitar controller. Now I can't WAIT for Guitar Hero 2 in November! I hope Black Label's new single will be on it!!!!! This post has been edited by blacktrix: Jul 11 2006, 04:51 PM |

the only thing im curious on the zakk lp is how the epi neck feels.
cos i know its not bare like the gibson one, i think theres a very thin coat of lacquer on it still right? |

Nope. Totally bare as far as I know. Even if there WAS a coat..... you can't really tell..... So easy to move up and down the fret. The action might be a little high for some, but it's just right for this guitar because I can pull off Pings very easily. Only gripe is that it comes with the standard .10 Gibson strings....... Wish they used the Boomers..... no matter. Bought 2 pairs for this anyway. Will get 'em re-strung when I change the pickups.
Oh...... And I might have a little budget left over, so if anyone wants to buy the pick-ups, just PM me straight. Thanks. |

well i've read reviews that says it has a poly coat.
the gibson if i'm not mistaken is just satin oil finished. either way i was thinkin of converting my epi lp custom to that way. since its the exact same specs as the epi zakk anyway without the bullseye. just wanna try it out first to see how its like. speaking of pickups. just found out that a SD Livewire is SGD125. QUOTE(blacktrix @ Jul 11 2006, 09:57 PM) Well, my dad DID offer to buy me the Camo Les Paul in US when I tired it out...... But I turned it down...... saving the cash for the half-stack..... hahahahaha............ peavey XXX FTW!!!I MIGHT have to go with the AVT150w.... but like I said..... will head down to Bentley and try a bunch of 'em first to see how it sounds. I hear the new Ibanez All Tube Half Stack sounds pretty awsome as well.... and the Peavey Triple XXX...... Wow...... That is an AWSOME amp. |

Man, if there was a Guitar Center in Malaysia, I'd be there every single day!!! Imagine pulling out guitars worth 3000USD WITHOUT being hassled by the staff, and instead, helped to an equally expensive amp and lets you noodle with it until your heart's content! The staff are extremly friendly and helpful and will really go out the way to help you. And as for selection......... well, try everything you imagine....... and then double it. It's THAT huge. It's so freakin' awsome.......... words can't describe. Very hard to go back to Bentley now...... Imagine every single wall high above until the ceiling, all stacked with guitars and amps!!!!! *drools*
Oh, and yes..... The Peavey Triple XXX (Jagermeister limited edition) was one sweet amp. The cleans were done well, and the distortion was nice and tight. But what REALLY impressed me was the Crunch channel..... a beautiful Marshall-esque crunch which would be even sweeter with an overdrive pedal in front of it........ Really impressed with it. Which brings me to my next point....... Does anyone know where they sell Peavey amps????? This post has been edited by blacktrix: Jul 12 2006, 07:13 AM |

Well, for me the ultimate would be a Marshall JCM800....... but I AM open to suggestions. Top of my list right now is the Randall amp (Which is impossible to find in KL) and if possible, the new Ibanez Tube Amp.
Will head over to Bentley once the Les Paul is properly setup to test out a few amps over there...... This post has been edited by blacktrix: Jul 12 2006, 11:29 AM |

QUOTE(blacktrix @ Jul 12 2006, 07:08 AM) There is a Peavey dealer nearby Jalan Pasar that can bring in any Peavey amps for you. As for the price, I believe you will need to pay around RM4k++ for the head.QUOTE(blacktrix @ Jul 12 2006, 10:13 AM) No way!!! If anything, the 5150 has way more crunch than the XXX. The XXX (also known as the George Lynch signature amp (little known fact)) aims at a more modern, saturated Mesa Boogie inspired high gain tone. It is way more versatile than the 5150 because the clean is awesome. But most will agree that for pure distortion and crunch, the 5150 is hard to beat. The 5150 is the one that is pretty much based on the Soldano that Van Halen used at one point, which was based on his souped up Marshalls. That said, did you get to check out the JSX? Pretty much based on the XXX. |

I have been playing for more than five years and I still suck!!! LOLI can play rhythm very well but just could not get into lead playing at all. One way to improve though is to constantly try stuff that you can't play. Start with not so challenging stuff then move on to harder stuff as you improve. It will take time but keep at it everday and you will get it sooner or later. |

QUOTE(Pix @ Jul 13 2006, 06:06 PM) was thinkin of that option, with wilkinson vs50 or vs100 bridge, grovers, lefty strat neck so get reverse headstock which i prefer cos of the reverse string lengths.i already had all the parts including the mighty mite neck and body sourced locally from dealers. the total came up to just under RM1800, with duncan designed pickups. now that i know the mighty mite bodies arent made in the USA, well the wood is from the states, but routed everything else in Korea, so i think i'll pass on that option This post has been edited by Everdying: Jul 13 2006, 06:54 PM |

Why? Korea makes good stuff too you know........ You're being wood-racist man!!!! Hahahahaha........
But all honesty, American Workmanship isn't all that it's cracked up to be either you know..... Sure....... they have a high workmanship in terms of guitars....... but just BECAUSE it's made in America, doesn't mean it's the best. Korea (and to some degree Japan) also makes excellent guitar related stuff there too........ |

Even my friends japanese squier jazz sounds better than some american jazzes i've played. Besides, Leo Fender is gone (RIP). What makes you think that the dude thats building the "made in america" guitars is not korean or chinese or indian etc.... i bet it wouldve been so much diff if someone told you its a korean made prs body... or a korean made jem body...lol
everyone is biased in some way... imo its all about the assembling of the gat and the fine tuning that matters.... so i guess it wouldnt really make a huge difference the bodies are machine-made anyway (useless you go for the "custom" US made bodies...LOL) |

well the ash series strat in a real fender.
i was actually looking at that model earlier today on the fender website. falls under fender's american deluxe series which explains its high price. think what that guy on ebay has is a older model, cos the current ones dont have seymour duncans. yet no idea what the MN means |

No "stratocaster" or "made in korea" or some serial number....And the neck bolt on plate also states nothing. I have seen Ash strat series. But i'm still not very sure about this model. Somehow it's different also because of the MN that stands after it....weirdi was actually looking at that model earlier today on the fender website. falls under fender's american deluxe series which explains its high price. think what that guy on ebay has is a older model, cos the current ones dont have seymour duncans. yet no idea what the MN means |
