of course not lah. we give him yours. i'll just be conveniently lounging there when the guitar arrives, and when your back's turned... er... cya later tongue.gif

And low end Gibson. Spend a bit more on some pups and all, and you'll get wher eyou wanna be.

Another reason for low end Gibson: everytime you look at your headstock and see that Epi, you'd be thinking, "hey it could've very well said Gibson"... Might not be the best reason, but aren't most guitarists brand whores? tongue.gif
*
seconded. laugh.gif i would rather own a low end gibson than own a high end epi... tongue.gif

im getting seizures from the lightings shocking.gif
*
blame the provider. laugh.gif

QUOTE(echobrainproject @ Jun 21 2006, 06:25 PM)
what gig is that? lighting and stage was really weird.

well besides working on the vocals and drums, the whole band has to work on stage presence and crowd interaction. ask sifu led zep for more lessons.
*
some function from my ex-school lol. yeah i agree about the weird lightings, i shut my eyes at times lol.

yeah thanks for the comments. will try and do it during later gigs. but the place we were performing was an auditorium, so there was a reasonably far distance between the stage and audience..

.. and the vocals mike was too loud.

QUOTE(led_zep_freak @ Jun 21 2006, 07:06 PM)
Yeah right... sweat.gif  sweat.gif  sweat.gif I'm only eligible to give one and only one advice : Be a poser. rolleyes.gif

Oh speaking of videos I'ill be getting the DVD tomorrow (I hope!) and will be meeting some BLS poser too. rolleyes.gif Jk... tongue.gif
*
summit auditorium. funny huh lol. i think this is the last school-related function before college life haha! yeah i'll be a poser. who do you pose as, ledzep? tongue.gif

QUOTE(+3kk! @ Jun 21 2006, 07:41 PM)
woah you people performing sial.......................

me = bed room guitarist who is cursed to miss gigs
*
i used to think the same thing too, but things changed lol. tongue.gif

oh yeah, the best part was, there was no soundcheck! the equipment provider was 2 hours late. ass****doh.gif

and we only practiced for 4 hours prior to the gig. laugh.gif coz of time constraints haha.

QUOTE(echobrainproject @ Jun 21 2006, 08:20 PM)
if u're going to do gigs often, u need to get used to very bright lighting especially big gigs. try to get used to it asap. the crowd wouldnt like to see a guitarist trying hard to keep his eyes open(and with a funny 'orgasmic' facial expression) yet standing still. hehe. u can check out how led zep(eong xien) poses in his friendster!!! (led zep: dont get mad. helping u promote ur band). hehe. or u could check mine out too(in my sig)... and watch the shameless self promo vid. rotfl

practiced for 4 hours prior to the gig???!!! wow, u guys did well!!! no soundcheck is not an excuse. i made eong xien miss his soundcheck and he still did well
*
i'm okay with bright lighting, but i wasn't really comfortable with the psychedelia. but i guess the feeling's gone when you really start playing hehe. i was headbanging and half closing sometimes lol. not closed totally all the time. tongue.gif i did look at the crowd haha. biggrin.gif

yeah i looked your self promo video already lol. laugh.gif it was good!

yeah i know, it's not an excuse, just that if we had a soundcheck, the solo could be more audible. smile.gif

Jk jk... echo understands since he reads my blog occasionally. tongue.gif

holy. i didn't know you had a blog! and when i found it, it caused my firefox to hang lol. so i opened using IE. omg so poser! tongue.gif

QUOTE
For some reason, soundcheck-less gigs are part of gigs, always. Malaysians being Malaysians are always late, including myself. tongue.gif
Anyway the stage setup for my gig was bloody messy, I thought our band was gonna screw up. I was bloody afraid if I stepped on a cable of the power point, which would shut down all the pedals, so I had to be extra careful whenever I step out for the occasional posing moment. tongue.gif  I agree that soundcheck is very crucial, but always prepare to play without it. biggrin.gif
yeah i guess so. it was a good experience, that day. smile.gif

QUOTE
4 hours of practice, that's pretty good, keep up the good work. biggrin.gif We should update each other on available gigs so we could perform together. biggrin.gif
Were you the one who played the main riff??? I couldn't really hear the solo but the other guitar was pretty ok. biggrin.gif  The drummer needs to work somemore but considering he's only Form2, he's definitely on the right track. If he continues to practice consistantly, he'ill be very good by the time he's in form 5. biggrin.gif
I've seen it already, yeah it's pretty funny but it gives you a chance to review your stage presence and antics. I'm thinking of new tricks to pull off onstage already. tongue.gif  tongue.gif One day I'm gonna try the windmill. biggrin.gif Have you tried that before? tongue.gif
yeah we should! biggrin.gif looking forward to that hehe. yeah i was the rhythm guitarist, how'd u know? the video quality was so bad lol. yeah i think his progress is okay, and it's only his 7th time playing with a real drumset. sad but true. tongue.gif coz he doesn't have one at home, and he only attended 2 drumclasses before his mum asked him stop because he didn't study LOL.

ah yes.. make sure you share the video with us! biggrin.gif haven't tried the windmill, but maybe one day i'm gonna try play lying down. thumbup.gif

Yup... Message me or something when you're there. smile.gif
Even Firefox can't stand the power of poserism LOL! XD

I recognize you by your headstock haha. You bent down to adjust the amp settings during the solo but the solo carried on, so it should be you on the rhythm. biggrin.gif
LOL! He did pause in the beginning of the song hah.

Windmill is the last thing you wanna play lying down. tongue.gif
*
ah, if i rajin i shall open IE and visit your blog more often now. tongue.gif

actually i bent down because my pick dropped!! laugh.gif i really got a shocker there lol. ah, luckily u think i was adjusting the amp. tongue.gif means the crowd was likely to think the same. tongue.gif yeah he paused.. but nevermind, it wasn't that obvious. tongue.gif

QUOTE(led_zep_freak @ Jun 21 2006, 10:19 PM)
nerd, nice guitar tone and tight rhythm btw, what did you use? Did you realize somebody screamed "One more time please" at the end of the song? tongue.gif  tongue.gif
*
ah thanks, i think i make a better rhythm than lead guitarist. but i shall not give up practicing solos!~ tongue.gif

ah, equipment? i was using a randall tube combo (not sure about the model though, and i think it's tube) through my yamaha + SH-10s. i like the trebly sound of the SH-10. smile.gif oh, and i scooped the mids. tongue.gif

yeah i realised, and we actually contemplated on playing it again, but we were scared that the organizers would slaughter us hahahaha!

i wasn't wearing my glasses at that time, but my friend told me a few people stood up clapping, some sort of standing ovation i guess! hehe. biggrin.gif

QUOTE(C_w_sam @ Jun 21 2006, 10:33 PM)
Is it just me or ... maybe the intro part wasn't in time ?
*
yeah it was abit off, my lead guitarist was feeling emo at that time because his clean sound during nothing else matters was distorted. turn out he plugged his GFX-5 into an overdriven amp LOL. actually during the solo, my lead guitarist and i was supposed to lean on each other's back (to make it more cun la) but he was too emo, he forgot LOL!

oh btw, we all are cousins. tongue.gif

same thing

always play with tracks

does it help with timing? cuz i tihnk mine is ghey =/
*
it does i suppose.. instinct timing. it works for me.

if i play in my band, my timing is based on the drumbeats (i think all guitarists that play in bands should know this laugh.gif) and also vocals to a certain extent.

that's how we guitarists get through small gigs where we aren't provided with stage amps (means we can't hear each other's playing).

all band guitarists, agree with me? smile.gif

QUOTE(led_zep_freak @ Jun 29 2006, 01:34 AM)
Me too. biggrin.gif  Usually in a band situation I would follow very closely to the drummer, if he screws up the timing, I have to follow too LOL! Anyway in my band my bassist is pretty much locked to the drummer and I usually give certain signals/eye contact when to end/quiet down etc... sometimes the vocalist would do the signal job, depending on which song we play.

But yeah, if the drummer isn't playing on a certain part, I would usually tap my foot and headbang a little to keep the timing. I realize that at times your foottapping would be synced to the movement of your picking hand. So the tapping is gonna be confusing if you play some complex rhythm, hence the headbanging. biggrin.gif
*
ah foot tapping! i almost always do that when playing powerchords in a band to keep a certain tempo to myself. but it's not forced, it comes naturally lol without me realising it.
yeah, we follow very closely to the drummer, if he screws up, we too will screw up because there is not fricking way we can go against the drummer (at least for me, if the drummer slows down, my playing immediately becomes lethargic and slow, that's why i always get mad with my drummer lol!) complex rhythm, i headabang abit only. tongue.gif

QUOTE(Bassix @ Jun 29 2006, 04:36 AM)

headbanging and foot tapping would work as well. But I've seen some sesat people who headbang to a totally different tempo than what the drummer is playing notworthy.gif  tongue.gif ....not easy to headbang out of timing...but they can do it...hahaha. And play all wrong of course.

So remember; love your bassist and drummer and they will love you back.....Wait, that sounds sooo wrong... shakehead.gif
*
i saw it in a trivium video once. tongue.gif but they were playing all fine. biggrin.gif
