what type of health effects? btw i've heard of such a diet before. if u look it up on bb.com its called CHA diet by team scivation marc lobliner. i downloaded the pdf and it says that it needs some time to get used to cause your body will start to get sluggish as it's not used to getting energy from fats rather than carbs.

how abt glycogen stores and insulin spikes?

so in conclusion its safe to just maintain a low carb diet to get more ripped right? what other side effects would it include? i.e. sluggishness, ketosis, etc.

sorry for shooting so many questions. thanks again very much  notworthy.gif

That fat induction diet was based on 80-90% fats. The author didn't mention what adverse effects. He suggested just a few days would do as precaution. When you go on a low carb and hi fat diet, the body will become sluggish. It may take about 2-3 weeks for the body to adjust to it.

We got plenty of fatty acids, there's no need glycogen. I dunno about the insulin spike theory on this diet. According to record an amateur competitive bodybuilder gained 25lbs of muscles in 6 months or so while on LC HP HF diet. That already contradicts with the insulin spike theory.
I did gain about 10 lbs of muscles on this diet, so did my friends.

According to researchers, there are some cultures in the world eat a very high fat, high protein and low carb diet and found they were virtually free from any health problems. The Eskimos eat mainly whale and seal meat for 9 months during winter. No carbs at all. They live up to old ripe age.
Some died young because of the harsh living condition.

Thanks for shooting these questions. I need to brush up too. My brain has gone rusty.

I learned from other experts in the related fields. I also attended seminars conducted by researchers from overseas.
And I took up a semi correspondence course in nutrition medicine.

Most importantly you must use your own body to experiment. Reading is theory. Theory could be wrong.
Our body is a perfect tool to prove whether the theory is workable or not.
I tried vegetarian diet for 1 1/2 years. It sucks. Or probably I was eating wrongly.

haha. try adding more protein and healthy fats (peanut butter, healthy oils etc) to your diet to bump up your calories. together with a solid workout program, your body should start gaining muscle. it's good that u can't get fat. people would kill to have that u know biggrin.gif

looks all right.. according to 4Rings, it should take awhile before your body is able to use fat as energy. consuming carbs shud be fine as long as you burn them during workouts. try this for cardio:

good luck. btw, why don't u try eating nuts/healthy peanut butter when you're hungry ie at night?

Your diet is still hi in carbs to induce a fat burning process. There are hidden carbs in yogurt, nuts and skimmed milk.
To induce fat burning, you have to temporarily reduce more carbs.
Try to do without starches for at least a month. Eat only vegetables as source of carbs.
In order to force your body to use fat as energy, you really have to limit your carb intake to a bare minimum.
Remember to increase your oil intake. You need to eat fat to burn fat.

A few whole half boiled eggs is simple enuf.
Take macadamia nuts instead of peanut. Macadamia has more fat and less carb.
Add a tablespoon of olive oil to each meal. You need oil to fuel your workout when carb intake is low.

Something is funny with your diet. Try to rearrange another one with 3 solid meals plus 2 whey shakes between 3 hours interval.

There is nothing to do with the brand of whey if you can't gain muscle mass.
You have to look into your food, training, rest and lifestyle.
Try to correct what is wrong.

No such thing. You probably eat other junk foods.
Whey is good for slimming beside being used for building muscles.
Whey contains Glycomacropeptide which send signal to your brain telling you that you're full, don't eat anymore buddy.
Whey also boosts your energy level for you to work more efficient.
Whey is a good way to healthy life.

Bodybuilders are used to drinking lots of whey hence no effect on them. For non bodybuilders, they have 'full' feeling after drinking whey.

HI all sifus, I'm trying to gain healthy weight. Only 60kg for 1.8m, looks real skinny.

Here's my typical daily meal plan:

Morning:
1 small whole apple
2 wholemeal bread
peanut butter & butter spread (sometimes cheese)
50g Instant Organic Rolled Oats
10g Organic Pumpkin Kernel
10g Organic Sunflower Kernel
10g Sunmaid Raisin
250ml Soyabean
Sometimes 2 half boiled egg

Lunch
Economy rice (Veg + egg/tofu + meat/fish) OR
1 can tuna with 6 pcs of wholemeal bread

Afternoon Tea
10g Almond
10g Apricot Kernel
10g Green/black soyabean

Dinner
Economy rice/porridge (Veg + egg/tofu + chicken/fish) OR
Pasta with broccoli + chicken + white oyster mushroom

Supper
Depending on dinner time, could be light one like honey (250ml) or fruits OR
heavy one like more beans with soyabean

I think I'm taking >2500 kcal most of the days but in terms of protein, guess very hard to fulfill the 1g protein per pound of body weight (suggested by one site i visited - can't remember)

My workouts - Gym at condo (i don't know what are those called but the weight ranges from 3-7kg, using machine) and alternate with breastroke swimming almost daily basis.

Just started out this routine a month ago but not satisfied with progress cause only added 2kg (that's also not sure cause using different weighing machine).

Anyone can help to improve my plan? TKS icon_rolleyes.gif
