i was just wondering wad kind of oats and cereal to eat? like quaker oats? and what cereal would be the best for dieting?
jacobs biscuits is the high fibre or the wheatmeal one?

Oats are oats, they have bigger and smaller (mashed version) type. It is all good for diet and digest sys. The way you consume is the trick. U can cook it with sweetened milk, top it with fruits for sweet intake, for salty intake, u can cook it with eggs and menced meat with soy sauce, oyster sauce also can, as long as u like it. this is what i prepare for the kids at home.

But the most healthy way to take, is to take those bigger types, oval shape, bigger ones instead of 'instant' type. Cos the diff of instant or not, simply means u need to cook or not, the cooking time to make it soften and easier to be digest, it doesnt mean the bigger ones are hard to be digest. to cook the bigger ones with water/soy milk/HL milk, is to allow it be absorbed well, if u dont want to cook it, the same result comes out when u pour the same ingredient into a bowl and leave it for half/1hr. Cooking is to speedy up the time for the oats to absorb.

if u r interested i can share more menu/tips on oats

For true high fibre meal, u should eat those dark brown bread which is hard to shallow with nuts... but not sure in Msia got sell or not. Those in Cold Storage/super market claims to be high fibre/wheat are light brown, probably just color, not effective at all...

Too much hassle to prepare it. HL milk just take out and drink. There's been rumours about sperm damage too.

U r right, it does, but a little more time to prepare for a bigger diet, i thou thats worthy since u r sweating and dying to get 6 packs smile.gif

Soya protein is not good for guys coz soya itself have a high estrogen lvl...and  having a risk of Men "BOOBS"...

Not really true. In order to get gynaecomastia, you'll need to consume mega amounts of soy. And drinking a litre a day isn't going to do any harm.

Thanks Sasha (do you sasha?) Im glad that someone find it useful. I pick any brand in the market, i dont think there is any tricks of consuming the right one, it is raw. I ve been practicing raw food, i avoid fragrant rice, but brown+red rice. For oat,i think it is generally safe and OK for any choices. For those big ones i mentioned, i dont think there are many choices, i found some are from Canada/USA/Mexico, i wont say these are great, but since i dont have many choices for bigger types so i just grab anything within my sight, especially those from these places. If u cant find anything like this and if you are new to oat, please take those instant type as a start.
Even if it is instant, u can still cook it in the way i mentioned, but time in pot has to be less and less water cos it gets messy very quickly. Always add water gradually. Let me know if u need a detailed menu.

I dont pick any of those breads/biscults plastered with words 'high fibre' cos it is like Ribena are 'well-known' for Vit C, but we all know it contains too little to be mentioned about. I dont mean to criticize, I was trying to share that I dont rely fibre from my bread therefore i dont it in my bread. Whenever i go to starbucks/cold storage, i would choose anything in dark brown, some with nuts, some are not. These are 'better' quality in the Fibre and wholemeal reasons. those light brown one i doubt at the quality.

are we suppose to have meals before or after workout?
as i know, there are two options,

a) exercising with an empty stomach (before breakfast) burns excess fat in your body.

b) exercising after breakfast/meal would provide more energy to burn calories.

I usually go for a.. but i heard that it's not good because i would have a heavy breakfast after that, and my workout would not be so effective?

speaking of high fat, moderate protein and low carb diet,

does the oily mamak food considered as healthy fat ?

is it ok to eat the lard safely ?

the mamak fat mostly is saturated fat. Now still got conflicting research regarding saturated fat. Some say it is good, some say it is bad. So if you want to be safe, take less of saturated fat or try to take saturated fat from plant. But not too much. Then eat healthy fat such as mono and poly fat. also not too much. I suggest not to go too low on carb. 120g carb a day minimum for a man.

Hey guys i got this NUTRALIFE Maximum Weight Gain product for my bday (yeah im skinny, 50kg 175cm) and i m uncertain how to consume it. Under the description it says the product is a blend of proteins + milk + carb and Branched Chain Amino Acids. I am afraid i might waste it if i dont consume it properly coz i eat quite little and heres my daily diet :

morning : milk + cerealbar/sandwich
lunch : varies, normally kopitiam stuff(chicken rice etc.)
dinner : a bowl of rice with several dishes.

So my questions are

1. how much more food do i need to eat in order to obtain substantial mass?
2. Do i need any other products to go with it?
3. Should i hit the gym or only do that after i gain mass?

Thanks in advance for your advices. I did google and apparently this brand isnt popular sleep.gif

Hi all.

I'm trying to lose weight here. I'm 86Kg and 181CM tall. I have quite a big tummy with extra fat on the sides. I want to eliminate all of them. I usually do push ups when i wake up in the morning. After work, i will go for a swim everyday. Alternately, i'd go to the field for football or jog. Sometimes i lift weights at home just to build up the muscles at my biceps and triceps.

Here's what i usually have in a day.

Breakfast
8.10am - Milo with bread or breakfast bars

Lunch
1.00pm - Rice with chicken and vege. Sometimes i have noodles. Water

Dinner
8.00 pm. : Rice with chicken and egg or noodles.

I seldom have food in between. Sometimes i get hungry in the morning at ard 10 or 11am, i have tiger biscuits. Lol

I have people giving me suggestion that my dinner should be substituted with bread and hot beverages and also meal replacement supplement. Is this true? What kind of meal supplements are out there?

Any advice regarding my daily consumption is appreciated. thanks!

U alredi hv active lifestyle, dats gud. To increase ur metabolism, try do weights on other muscles as well. More muscles, more calories burnt. Diet wise, try substituting bread with wholemeal bread, or better oats. Drink milo with less/no sugar. Take brunch, there cn be healthier options than tiger biscuits, like fruits/protein source. Meals should be 5-6 times a day but in less caloric value per meal. Try google for site dt offers calculation of ur daily caloric requirement, eat 500-700 kCals less than that, but if ur male dun go below 1600 kCals/day. Eat less rice, more chicken/fish n vege. Eat less noodles. Better still, substitute rice/noodels with oatmeals if ur really trying to lose weight. I dont think meal replacement is a good idea coz natural healthier fuds r better n more fulfilling.

Just my 2cents. doh.gif

My suggestion
Breakfast - wholegrain bread + 2 eggs + low fat milk @ oat + milk + 2 eggs

lunch - rice / brown rice with chicken/fish/meat + vege

dinner - brown rice with chicken/fish/meat + vege.

In between you can eat fruits /wholegrain bread with white eggs / peanut butter / tuna / peanuts to stop you from feeling hungry. Remember to try to calculate your calories consume

Then exercise regularly, your bodyfat will start to reduce rclxms.gif although it will take some time
