guys.. i m going down sg to work soon nxt week..
my current company hold back my final pay to do tax clearance.. what exactly I have to do about the tax clearance thing?

whenever they issue the form I am already in sg.. and the how about the tax relief that I am supposed to file in next year?
*

Go the LHDN office where your tax file is managed (generally the office in the city where your first job was, where you first paid tax), fill in a form that you will no longer be working in Malaysia / no longer earning any income in Malaysia / leaving Malaysia indefinitely. Submit that form and the next step would be to make an appointment with the officer in charge of your tax file. You need to get your company to submit all financial documents for your remuneration up till your resignation. During that appointment, if everything is complete, the officer will inform you of your final tax liability. Pay that and they will then close your file until you start earning taxable income in Malaysia again.

This was what I experienced in 2005, just before I came to Singapore. You can give LHDN a call and confirm what you need to do.

Then just file a zero income 2013 tax return next year, and do the tax clearance after that. If you don't want to do tax clearance, you just submit a zero income tax return each year.

As for your last salary, check with the LHDN officer if the company needs to withhold it. You can also call your company's finance department to issue your Form E immediately to do tax clearance. But dunno if your company will layan you.

Hey guys! I hope a few of you sifus here can help me! How does one obtain the EP pass?

My employer and myself has gotten the In-Principal Approval letter. Apparently, my employer has to submit a request via EPOL for my EP to be released and then I make an appointment via the e-appointment portal to get my EP right? However, this would mean my employer has to pay S$150.

Or, do I do it via EPSC myself but I pay the S$150. I am so utterly confused. cry.gif cry.gif Plus, what is needed for the EP collection? Apart from the documents, I have to prepare a passport sized photograph yes?

Thank you very much in advance for your replies! I need my EP asap to open a bank account and look for accommodation! I have only 3 weeks left to look for a place to stay... cry.gif

Edit: HAPPY NEW YEAR ALL!

if your employer is withholding your last pay...that means they have informed LHDN that u are leaving the country.
they will issue a form to you...CP21 or something like that together with your last pay
it looks exactly like an EA form.
u have 2 ways to settle your income tax for 2013 now.
1. Do your income tax filing like what you do normally and submit the borang B or BE with the CP21 (i forgot the month...LOL)
2. When you receive your CP21...go to LHDN office, and get the form and submit manually.
I recommend the first method...which my wife and I both did 2 years ago.

I am looking for English teaching position in Singapore. Can anyone give me some ideas where to look for one? I have been teaching for 3 years as a part-time language instructor. I teach teenagers and adults mostly intensive English courses. In addition, does anyone know what the salary range is?

I thought so too! Shouldn't the employer deal with everything? No matter, I will wait for my employer's reply. Thanks very much!

It takes about 7 working days so fret not! Also, you will need to go for a medical check up before your IPA. If your IPA is not ready by then you cannot start working in Singapore.

Apparently the EP is needed before one can start renting a room. Sigh, for this, I am in the same predicament as you. sweat.gif

Some corrections here. You can start working legally using the IPA, and most landlords/agents should also allow you to start renting using IPA. So you get company to issue IPA, come in and start work/look for room, then while working do the medical check up, etc for doing the formalities / fingerprinting to issue the EP card.

What do you mean by ui/ux "consultancy"? Last I checked, there is no such thing.

This is good news to me!! What about a bank account? Can I open one with an IPA? biggrin.gif

Edit: Thank you! In addition, which lane should I use when passing through immigration? Can I enter Singapore via the EP pass lane using the IPA?

Apologies for barrage of questions! I am just slightly overwhelmed that is all. Any form of guidance will be much appreciated! blush.gif
