I am not working for Singapore immigration but as far I know immigration will place a red flag on you when you had overstayed based on temporary stay visa. Once you exit the country they will check your visa validity. If you had overstayed, better be prepared for the worst such as interrogation.

I am not sure if you can apply for extension, better consult MOM regarding such matters. MOM contact:

http://www.ica.gov.sg/page.aspx?pageid=117

ICA 24-hour Call Centre*#  For general enquiries or further clarifications on our products or services, please contact us at 6391 6100

This is a 24-hour automated answering service for information of our services and procedures requirements. Our Customer Service Officers are available during office hours only.

I have experienced very strich immigration rules at Australia and assume Singapore is pretty much the same. I never try to overstay my visa validity period. Just be a good immigrant, there are plenty of jobs there. Just keep trying.

Mobile SIM is very easy to get, just go to any mobile phone shops/SIM card vendors and show your passport. The seller will scan your passport details to the company for registration. Top up is easy as well.

Dont worry about SIM, just check for a method of staying at Singapore for long period or reapply your visa if needed.

I think there was a similiar query regarding this visa stay stuff in the previous post. I remember reading it somewhere.

Haha yes I know you're not working for Singapore immigration but they'll be lucky to have you work for them because you're so patient in explaining things. Thanks for the link and for the infos.

Yes, it's better to be safe and not overstay but I'm asking just in case suddenly smth crop up when I am about to go back (e.g last minute got call for interview) so if this happen I know what to do and will go apply for extension even if it is just for a day.

I'm not sure which mobile line or plan (prepaid or postpaid?) to sign up with. I'll be going to sg for about a month and then returning to malaysia after that so I'm planning to keep that number for awhile when I'm in Malaysia to receive calls from sg.

Welcome. Just helping out. You should ask the rest of the fellow SG guys here, they know the bolts and nuts (more than I do) to these immigration stuff and job hunting. The following sifu can help you out alot:

Fiona Chin
alaskanbunny
jasonkwk
Mackiddo
deodorant
(alot more. they are friends in this forum)

If I am not mistaken one of the lowyat member here is a head hunter. I dont really know how to summon that guy, I am kinda new to this forum (noob here still learning tongue.gif ). The head hunter can help you find a job without jumping borders. They are pretty helpful as well. I got my job through a head hunter as well. It makes life alot easier through networking.

Prepaid is easy to get. Postpaid I think needs a resident address. Also exchange contact such as phone (both Singapore and Malaysian number) and email when you need to be contacted for any follow up.

hey, SG sifu. Just wondering is it better for me to change my AUD currency to SG currency at SG or Malaysia? Currently most money exchanger rate for AUD to RM is 2.9 . I dont want to lose money due to the double currency swap.

I be changing a large sum of money.

@alaskanbunny : I don't think I can enter government school. The school that I am thinking at the moment is SIM. I have thought of SMU but their intake is open in 2014 and it is for 2015. So I would have to wait for another year.

I'll try talk to SIM and see what they can offer.

IT is a very very big market. what type of jobs you looking for? BI apps support? helpdesk? network? hardware? asset management? software developer?
Be more specific when you want people to intro you.
