These days, I prefer using Mikrotik over a pfSense box. It's really capable and comes cheap.

np. i doubt it matters anyway because hypptv channel selection is pathethic.

people would rather pay for netflix with vpn  smile.gif
anyhow i was planning on getting a Asus RT-AC56U router and use shibby tomato on it for my brother's unifi.

But since you got a pfsense, is there a settings for google ipv6 dns ? I'd also ask how much but you mentioned for business so it's probably now a budget pfsense build you got there  sweat.gif

In pfSense, under the "General Setup" menu, you get to key in up to four custom DNS servers. Hence, e.g., you can have two IPv4 DNS and two IPv6 DNS.

It doesn't cost the company much, as I just re-purposed an old HP server (dual Pentium 500mhz, 18GB SCSI and 1GB RAM) which has been idle for sometime into a router/firewall/proxy using pfSense. I've been using this same hardware for 3+ years under pfSense and I'm quite pleased with the reliability (well, server hardware reliability just can't be beat). smile.gif

Just some updates on my progress as a pfSense users.

1. Always try to experiment on your MTU settings. I find that mine works quite good at 1480 (in line with what HE.Net offers on their service which 1480).

2. Im on Streamyx PPPoE 8Mbps Home package. So yeah you can have IPv6 on your Streamyx too (if available)

3. MTU of 1492 also works but you have to defined it inside WAN page as what @ansonlos pointed out, but YMMV. Not sure why the default settings (null value) doesn't work out of the box and yet have to defined it.

Finally got my humble pFsense (VM) up with IPv6 support. Thanks for your tips. BTW I was using an old Dlink DSL-2640B (bridge mode) given by TM which its' firmware doesn't support IPv6. So modem have nothing to do with IPv6 blink.gif .

Updates:

pfSense just roll out it's latest version 2.2.2. I just finish testing the latest version and i can confirmed that pfSense has fully support IPv6 supplied by TM . Previously in this thread, me and @ansonlos stated that both of us had to define our MTU in pfSense WAN tab page. As of 2.2.2, i don't have to set/define my MTU anymore (although it's still 1492 coz of PPPoE overhead).

Just some updates too, Verizon, Comcast and other ISP already adhere to RFC 7368 and RFC 6177 (assignment of IPv6 address /56 prefix to customer/subscriber) . I'm in the process of urging ISP and telco in Malaysia to follow this standards too. The idea of using NAT (network address translation) is highly discouraged in IPv6 environment. Although this is not directly related to this thread, but do take your part in voicing out your opinion or lodge a complaint to your ISP's.

Hi guys, I'm on streamyx 1mbps and apparently on private IP too (10.xx.xx).

I tried to enable IPV6 on the TP-Link TD-W8970, using SLAAC, Address Auto-Configuration Type using RADVD, delegated site prefix configuration and my IPV6 seems to be connected,

however my test doesn't pass at all. How do I configure correctly?

Please advice thanks. biggrin.gif

Also found that my IPv6 shows no connection on my laptop. Is it my router not configured correctly?

do u know how to disable ipv6 in TM provided Innatech W7100N?
My streamyx is fast on everything... download speed is normally 500KBps... imdb, yahoo movies HD no problem... but youtube is super slow... only watchable at 144p.

EDIT: found it in a hidden setting in WAN.

Upgraded my unifi stock router to asus ac66u and enabled the ipv6. However when i switch on the parental control, ipv6 no longer worked. Is this normal? Should i sacrifice the parental control and get back my ipv6? Not sure whats the advantage of ipv6 to me though..

May I know which time range that you experience slow youtube over IPV6 so that I can test the speed
Before this, TM limit Youtube IPV6 connection from 11am to 1am (UTC+8) to 50KB/s on Streamyx (30KB/s for 512Kb Streamyx)
Not sure about UniFi because of no coverage
