I understand what you mean man laugh.gif
For me, its very hard to use back lower-end compacts after trying out FF  tongue.gif Even though the shot can be decent, I always feel that it could be much better with a mirrorless, DX or FF! haha T____T

Played around with an NEX3 and NEX5 before and I think they're still okay la haha, still beats breaking my back haha~
The Sony RX100 or its successor seemed pretty gooding, even so when paired to an underwater casing for underwater shots  drool.gif
But at the moment I'm more poisoned by Fujifilm mirrorless cameras~~
I hope Nikon up their mirrorless camera lineups soon  hmm.gif

Heard that my dad said my neighbour is using a Fujiflim xe-1, he says so far its the best for him when it comes to white balance and colour is great for him

Don't know about you but mirrorless quality still leaves me wanting more. sad.gif Especially after paying so much for it.

If really want to save the back, I would rather forgo everything and simply rely on a cili padi like the Sony RX100. Really light weight and relatively superb performance from a small sensor.
Unfortunately, there's no free lunch with the TC2 especially on a zoom. You get decent performance when paired with primes like the 200, 300 etc.

Another option for long lens is to go for the new AF-S 80-400mm. Focus is quite fast. Apparently performs better than 70-200mm + TC2. But it's a whopping RM 7k plus.  sweat.gif

I believe Albert posts some samples of it from time to time.

That's the issue when I'm trying to supress the light going through the lens sad.gif

70200+CPL is ok most of the time, 70200+TC2 acceptable, 70200+TC2+CPL --> this one pretty dodgy... better on the D800, but on D700 not as reliable hunts more.

Hi D600 users. anyone who purchased the latest batch of D600, so far using it have any significant problem of that oil/dust trap on the sensor?

Yes, its because of this problem hinders me from jump ship to Nikon and getting that awesome bang for buck d600.

Yes, I saw the Zeiss announcement on email. I told myself yes given the modern glass treatment on the Zeiss etc, with the kind of money they are asking for it, I might as well go for the Nikon Noct 58mm f/1.2.

seriously?
why?

It is true that mirrorless systems are taking over, and even when they are only featuring relatively smaller sensors. By the time we have FF mirrorless system, most people would probably make the switch imho hmm.gif
Slighter lousier ergonomics is a good compensation for portability I suppose?

DSLRs will be left only, like mentioned in the article, for more specialized genres of photography; or perhaps for that professionalism look to inspire clients' confidence. Hell, maybe one day mirrorless cameras will even be considered as standards in events or weddings laugh.gif

That said, I will definitely keep my D800 and use it for macro, portraits and everything else~ but I'm definitely not bringing it on a vacation laugh.gif laugh.gif

Really depends what the person wanna achieve and use the camera for.

Decline in DSLR, it's always happening, many people buy DSLR, excited and bring it everywhere they go the first time, and slowly, the DSLR went into the cupboard and they use their mobile phones.
Even digital camera are troublesome to carry around with you all the time.
Those never use DSLR will want to get one because they think only DSLR can get good image quality, but after getting, only they know, they're many others thing they need to know and learn, and more maintenance on the DSLR, etc.

To many, the camera they use is for taking food or something they see, you don't need a DSLR for that, and if they bought it, most likely they will not want to bring it around later. Another scenario is they take for shooting small family events, gatherings, small parties, etc. You also don't need a DSLR for that and it's troublesome to carry around, moreover, without knowing how to use it, they still get blur shots for movement/action when using A mode, harder to share, etc. Someone using smartphone may already taken the shot and shared it, or send to others.

I notice many media/journalist (auto blogs/magazines) already using smaller mirrorless camera, it's much much more convenient for them to carry around, with much smaller bags, and more convenient for them to move around and squeeze through the crowd to get that shot. You may carry a DSLR, but if you can get the shot or angle you wanted, it become pretty pointless.

Higher value = fine setting
Lower value = normal setting

So logically, higher value is 'better'. But isn't it that higher value means more bits are compressed and that is not a good thing right?

Is there actually a big difference between fine and normal setting? Thanks

i remember reading somewhere that shows sales figures that say mirrorless is only an asian trend.
in US / Europe, mirrorless isnt doing too well, thats why they keep slashing prices left right center.
