The water closets, basins, and faucets are already sent to the site. The plumbing work is done by an indon guy and i had so far pointed out few errors on the plumbing job... Perhaps there was communication break down in between him and the site supervisor.....
That makes me so busy keeping an eye on the details...until wanna go back home town also feel so uneasy to leave...

Perfectly normal to have to keep a close eye for things they've missed.

Bought quite some random pieces of peranakan tiles like following pic for the entrance foyer. I want it in radom patterns to achieve the quirky + vintage touch...  tongue.gif

Ya... Can't wait really...
This team of chinese sifus are very hard to book as they have very tight work schedule... I have waited so long for the tiling because I insisted to use them particularly...as I have seen their work from my neighbor's renovation earlier...

How's their workmanship on your project? When I'm ready for reno, will get their contact from you ya. Btw how much they charge for hacking and retiling?

I bought these peranakan tiles from Terracotta in Glenmarie at rm4.70ea. These tiles are cement floor tiles and was all hand drawn...
http://www.terracotta.com.my

Before this, I nearly buy another type of peranakan tiles which I saw in many tile shops. Those are also with peranakan and victorian design but with embossed pattern and they are thiner, with different material.. Later that I found that those are actually for wall but not for floor tiling as it can't carry our body weight and will definitely break apart... The problem is most tile shop do not know this hence wouldn't be able to tell you this...so, pls take note for those who want to use similar tiles..

Chocolatewhore, I will PM you the contact once mine complete... smile.gif

The tiling job has just started...not much work has been done for me to judge yet. Furthermore, Im now back in home town for few days...and really curious about the work progress at site now... hmm.gif

My tiling job was quoted by my main con. Following are part of the quote for your refference...
- To remove unwanted wall & floor tiles for carporch, kitchen and all bathrooms - RM3000.
- For master bathroom measured at 11'x7.5' - floor tiling RM598, wall tiling RM2584.

Some updates as of 2 days ago:

Noticed the concrete top for the semi-recessed JS Arosa which I had posted earlier has been hacked away and has been replaced with a concrete with new measurement as following pic...I didn't manage to capture this mistake that day as I have no idea what would be the concrete structure looks like for a semi-recessed basin. I think the supervisor has noticed the wrong measurement and asked for redo...

One thing good about the contractor that I must admit...eventhough there are couple of overlooked mistakes happened from time to time, they have not push the responsibility away but put immediate action to rectify problem or redo...

I wonder why my contractor is putting up the wall tiles first before doing my concrete table top as opposed to your contractor; whereby, I think your sequence is the correct one. Can anyone please share the right procedure ?? Tx

I saw it in the thread below that the TS's concrete top is also after the wall tiling... I guess that is also one of the common way kua... smile.gif

At least my contractor is not the "unique" one. Getting a little annoyed with the progress coz my sis told me that when she went to do spot check at about 10am this mornig, there was no worker. Damn irritating.

Did you check the matter of missing in action with the contractor? Few possibilities:
- they went out to buy food;
- they are waiting for the delivery of necessary materials which they can't do work without it;
- they have been borrowed to work in other site handled by the contractor.

I just don feel like talking to my contractor. Yes. He won't run away with my money and I think the workmanship is quite OK thus far. But I just can't tolerate the delaying effect. The progress for my wet kitchen (wall tiles) is only 10% better if compared to last Saturday. He said the workers couldn't work "properly" yesterday coz other guys came and installed the front and back security doors. Really wonder what they have been doing for the past 3 days. Autogate, grille, glass roof/balcony, painting, carpentry, lighting, aircond all belum buat. I'm going nuts soon. vmad.gif rclxub.gif

Chill bro, your reno started 1 week later than mine but I think you have got a better progress there...
Mine just started tiling job, the kitchen cabinet and backyard folding door can only get the measurement after the kitchen's floor tiles are up....then, it's another few weeks for them to deliver their work...
The laminate flooring at upper floor could only be started after the tiling job of the 2 bathrooms upstairs.... sad.gif

My initial plan is to move in before 1st Dec for my pre-wedding preparation (bed setting ceremony 1 week before actual wedding date). I'm so upset now as I don't see any possibility that it can meet the date....Now you can understand my frustration and stress? cry.gif

Yup. My progress was extremely fast during the 1st month. It was just unbelievable. I'm already jumping up and down coz I don't think I'm able to move in b4 CNY and now I think your condition is more critical than mine. But bro, I don't think you can make it lah. Better have some contigency plans since your renovation is not minor lah. It will take some time to get it settled. Wish you luck.

You start around sep this year, progress consider reasonable. Mine took me almost 8 months. But I was not in rush. Your reno may take about 3-4 months work and 1month rectifications.

Why not rent a bungalow for wedding? My friend did that since she is from outstation.

Unfortunately, mine is in further delay as it's my turn now that the tiling sifu has gone missing in action.... doh.gif
The contractor said the sifu is not picking up calls for couple of days...they had just came for 2 days of work and gone missing just like that there after.......speechless, is the word... shocking.gif
The contractor is also pissed with the irresponsible act by them and he will be getting me another team of tiling sifu next week...he says this other team are also experienced sifus... So, what now? I can only pray hard-hard that he gets me some good ones...

As the big day is soon approaching...i have left with no choice but be practical and most probably using my current place (a studio unit in PJ) as the brides room....
My current place is actually now in a tremendous mess....with loads of stuff and boxes stacked up here and there (many things bought for new hse and lots of packed boxes)... I can hardly move around as the clumsy me always knock/kick into something and hurt my legs/toes.... sweat.gif
Feel upset that my dream of getting married in our new sanctuary is not going to realise now.... cry.gif cry.gif

There comes the installation of my 5'x7' security door. It is from Top Security which their doors are locally made in Klang. I chose this type of full panel doors over the one with a sub-panel because it is better break-in-ressistance compared the latter.

Firstly... congratulations on your big day!!

Renovations are like that... it usually takes a great deal longer than many estimate. Look on the bright side... at least you don't have to rush and get a place that is just finished renovation cleaned. That is seriously some back breaking work to clean all the dusty areas.

Sub-contractors going missing is also another common thing. The electrical guy who worked on my place will never get any other projects from me or my friends because of his irresponsible behaviour. But life's like that... when it throws you lemons... you do your best to turn them into lemonade.
