Hi maxxon where do you intend to place the emergency lights ? Every rooms or main areas ?
I was thinking of 3, one between living /dining, back and family room upstairs.

Your casing look similar to mine, mine can be use on ceiling, yours should be able use on ceiling. I prefer not because is obvious, putting behind the stairs is better for mine.

There comes the installation of my 5'x7' security door. It is from Top Security which their doors are locally made in Klang. I chose this type of full panel doors over the one with a sub-panel because it is better break-in-ressistance compared the latter.

I had the exact same door. Do watch out for installation, if not done properly it will be not straight.

Ya...I understand that life wouldn't be turning up exactly as what we want. I'm adjusting myself to accept the fact and telling myself that I would rather want a better workmanship than a rough job results from the rushing...
I hope life could throw me some honey too...so that i can make it into some honey lemon....  smile.gif

I just plan to place one of it on the ceiling above the staircase as shown in the first floor plan below. So, in case of an electricity blackout, this unit of emergency light will automatically lighten up the family hall upstairs and the staircase. Whereas the living room will be lighten up by the emergency led lights on the fan. As such, there will be basically some brightness to move around down and upstairs. Although it is not being installed at the back of house but i think there will still be some brightness from the living room, at least it is not a total darkness...

Yes, this is meant to be recessed into the plaster ceiling just like our downlights. I find it okay to be placed at a corner above the stair case. It is flat on the ceiling but not the protruded type like the oldtimes'. So, it looks okay for me.
If you want a smaller ones, they have a 6" square type just like a downlight fitting.

The charging will be auto right? It is only being used once awhile when there is electricity blackout, hence my parent's has last >15 years and it hasn't been taken down from the ceiling since then..

Putting behind the stairs?? Do you mean the portable type and you store it in the storeroom underneath your staircase? If like that, it just function like a big torchlight lor? For me, the purpose we install emergency light is so that we won't be in total darkness no matter we are at the up or downstairs as it will be lighten up automatically when no electricity. As such, we won't be panic especially for girls and kiddos at home. We will also not hurting ourself moving in darkness....

Err...would you mind to illustrate more? Can I know which alignment you are reffering to which is possibily not straight?
How can I check mine?

That's good idea to place it at the stairs. What kind of fan has emergency light?
Thanks for sharing and congrats on your upcoming big day smile.gif

My emergency light mount on top of the wall, is not so noticeable.

Charge is auto, but after few years the battery will deteriorate. Is better change because it won't hold charge anymore. Just like auto gate backup battery it will pregnant and later leak.

The top, left and right side of the door frame. You can only see it during installation. Once is all patch up you won't see any more. I was generally spending 2 hours every day during renovation to watch over them until it is all done.

Wow. I will only go to my house once a week to do inspection and perhaps the most 2 hours at the site. I hope I can be there everyday to monitor the progress and workmanship.

When doing major reno must keep close watch. I am sure there will be some minor mistake here and there.

I also went to Classic Hi Light in Bandar Sri Damansara to get some other general lightings. I've actually paid a RM300 during an exhibition fair in last July to lock the promotional price as they claimed that they are the major distributor of YET Plus lightings. However, very soon after that I found the price that I paid for the YET plus PLC downlight fittings are actually more expensive by RM5.30ea compared to CIMA Lightings. (I'm comparing the same brand, same model here)... So, i've actually overpaid a total of RM58.30 for 11 sets here, with the so called exhibition promotional price!    vmad.gif

Following are things I bought in Classic Hi Light:

- 2 units of 20W sensor outdoor LED spotlights @RM150ea.
Going to put one unit each at front porch and back yard.

user posted image
- 20W YET Plus Outdoor spotlight, warm white, 1840 lumen, @RM98. This is for my court yard.

user posted image
- 6" YET Plus round horizontal down lights with 1 pc Sylvania 20W E27 bulb, @RM28/set.
For the comparison apple to apple, CIMA Lighting is selling the same fittings @RM15.70, and Avalon selling the Sylvania bulb @RM7ea. It totals up to RM22.70/set.

I'm using this normal PLC E27 d/lights in all the bathrooms and in the spare room.

- Econlite LED recessed emergency light @RM150ea.
This is a local brand with sirim endorsement. I'm gonna put it at the first floor's ceiling near the staircase.

- Bought an Alpha 56" ceiling fan with incorporated emergency light in the middle @RM360. This is so that we won't get kelam-kabut when blackouts happens.
user posted image
- A Taiwanese made ceiling type motion sensor @RM100. That is to be installed to control the down light at the entrance, so that it will auto lights up once we open the main door and step in.

user posted image
- Lastly, I bought some YET Plus T5, 4' @RM15/set; 2' @RM12/set.
After Classic Hi Light, I went to CIMA Lighting on the same day and bought some Yet Plus 3W (276lumen) LED eyeball for testing.  CIMA is having sales now and I saw some Oxyone led d/lights are selling cheap...

I'll see if it is bright enough using 1pc bulb... I don't need very bright in bathroom and spare room, i like cosy ambience..

Following are what I have in mind and I have already purchased all those lightings..
i) masterbedroom- all led eyeballs on ceiling + table lamps on bedside tables + pendant light near dressing area;
ii) study/leisure room - 4" led downlights;
iii) Living room - combination of one row of T5 L-box + 4"led downlights + eyeballs + floor lamp (will on different combination based on different usage and mood temperature);
iv) dining room - pendant light + led track lights + led eyeballs;
v) foyer - pendant light + led track lights;
vi) kitchen - 4" led downlights + led eyeballs + led light strips underneath kit cab + pendant light above kit island.
